Can you name 1, or 2 things you would love to do once you reach your goal?
Ariel replied to mstrina27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I want to wear tank tops and look good in them. I want to be able to go swimming anywhere and anytime. And my ultimate dream is to run the boston marathon. -
My doctor dosen't have me on a pre-op diet...
Ariel replied to love777pink's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor had me on no diet. She said that there was not enough research to support torturing me with that. She did say that people with fatty livers are a different story, but for me and my normal size liver I would not have to do anything. -
Don't want General Anaesthesia
Ariel replied to ccc0206's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a bad experience with IV sedation. I became very aggresive and was hitting the doctors and nurses. They had to restrain me until the medicine wore off and i came to my senses. I literally had bruises on my stomach from where a male nurse held me down. I was soo concered about this, and talked to the anest. and she assured me that it would not happen with general. And she was right. I love general and i would pick it every time over IV sedation. -
Oh man, I really think LB takes advantage. The clothes shrink sooo bad!! I follow the directions to a T and no matter what after a few washes the shirts usually shrink to my belly button. I think it is a scam to get you to buy more clothes more often. I can't tell you how happy I am to be able to shop in other places.

3 days in Hospital??????
Ariel replied to LOOKIN2LOOSE's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
are you self pay? If not, then i would just go with it. but if i were paying for each day then i would have a prob. with it. I stayed 1 night and it was great. The PCA pump is your friend. -
I have to triple check that everything is off in the house before I go to bed or go out, even if I know for a fact that nothing was turned on.

My first meeting at Clinic
Ariel replied to Shamrockgirl60's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Goodluck with whatever you chose. Personally that would be too much pain for me. Two surgeries no thanks! If you don't mind pain and being part of an experiment go for it. -
My first meeting at Clinic
Ariel replied to Shamrockgirl60's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If your insurance will pay why put yourself through an experiment? It may work it may not. The band has already been proven. -
I think it's great for the poor and uninsured. Also some of the walmarts are in a really really small town and they have the fire and police dept. built in why not the doctors office too?
-
I didn't do any of the interactions with the insurance company. My doctor's office took care of everything. I did wait 6 months but that was because of my school plans. Where are you from and what doctor are you using. If you are in the Boston area I would highly recommend Dr. Vernon. I love her and her staff.

I would advise that whatever you bring, wash it when you get home. the hospital is full of germs and the last thing you want is to have MRSA or VRE on the pillow that you sleep with everynight. I just brought my PJ's and some clothes to change into for going home. The hospital has everything else and after the surgery you are out of it mostly.

I'm going bellydancing tomorrow!! Aubrie if dancing isn't your thing keep trying different classes until you find one that fits you.
-
I have tufts and they have been soo great! Very Fast approval and they even have their nurses call me and check in to see how I am doing. I love tufts. I got banded last year so I don't know if they have changed the policies.

I think selling organs is wrong. You should either give your organ out of love or human kindness or you don't do it. Selling organs would just cause too many problems thats why they don't allow people to sell thier blood anymore. Too many drug addicts. An organ is much too valuable of an assest to sell. Sure now you may be healthy but in 20yrs maybe you go into kidney failure and lose that kidney, or your stuck on dialysis and can die or worse yet, your child needs a kidney and you would have been a perfect match. We should stick with the way it is or maybe even adopt the UK method of harvesting the oragans but tweak it a bit.

I am going to get Lasik for myself as a graduation present. i can't wait!!! Thin and no glasses how sweet!
-
I love them! I can usually find yougurt and a nutrigran or some ceral bar. I love loading up my purse for snacks/ meals throughout the day. Free food is great.

I have a huge problem with this. At times I feel that I look exactly the same as I did preband and at other times I feel thin. For me pictures really help and having clothes that fit. Group pictures are the best because it allows me to compare myself to others and most of the time I am absolutly shocked at what I see.

My bites are smaller than preband but no where near eraser size. I put most of my focus on chewing rather than size. So far it has worked out well for me.
-
I go to the doctor's office once a month. I always see the physican's assistant who i love and if i have a problem i see the surgeon. The surgeon usually does a quick 1-2 min check in every other month if all is going well.

Got my surgery date....Jan. 10!!!!! Question about surgery day logistics...
Ariel replied to citygirl4616's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
well it all depends on you. Do you feel like you would be scared and having a friend/ family member would help you? I would suggest having the person stay with you until you go into surgery but afterwards is really a toss up. I was soo out of it with pain meds that it would not have made a differance. I literally could not keep my eyes open for more than 30 seconds at a time that first day. The next day I was back to normal. Some people when they come out of anesthesia are very emotional and having someone there might help, others are wide awake and might like company. It is all so individual. Good luck with your decision. -
help: dr. wants to refer me to Boston
Ariel replied to Newbeginnings's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Without a doubt go to Boston. I went to Dr. Ashley Vernon at Brigham and Womens and i absolutly love her and her whole staff. The aftercare has been amazing. -
If you can eat. A slice of toast with a little Penut butter or a yogurt with cherrios mixed in. Those are currently my fav. breakfasts.

Flippy Thing at the back of your throat
Ariel replied to godzgurl75's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I had a surgery about 5yr ago that happened to me. My throat hurt more than the surgery site. For me it took about a month to heal. Man, I'm sorry that happened to you.
