Carbonated Drinks - Why we shouldn't have them -Explained
Ariel replied to *Love*'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor always digs. My port is tilted though. =( -
Call your doctor, he can prescribe something different. Dry heaving is very dangerous to the band in this stage and dehydration is a big concern so get on that phone.

Hi, Everyone....I think I'll be the contrarian voice here...
Ariel replied to Headhunter's topic in Rants & Raves
How about some details. Doctors and hospital's names, when you had the surgery and where it was done. All of this more to come later is weird, stop leading us on. -
Oh thats great that they have support meetings at the faulkner. I will try to go to the may 12th one. i would love to see some other banded people. I am at the point now that all the weight that will come off with out me trying has, so now I'm actually going to work hard for this. I am soo gonna need support for this.

i think Disney is just being super safe. But I so had a massage within my first year post op without a Dr.'s note.

I have no idea how it happened, but I'm happy. =)

I have actually gotten bigger. I went from not compleletly filling a C cup to now fitting perfectly and depending on the bra a D. I think alot of it depends on the amount of breast tissue vs. fat.
-
I have never gone to a support meeting. I was always curious but I don't want to go to longwood and pay big bucks for parking and have it be a wasted night. I don't know if they have it at the falukner, that would be good if they do.

Ariel replied to Fairysaddle's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a really hard time throwing the clothes away too. I keep thinking that I will need them again but they will be gone. I'm slowly working on it -
No one know i have had lapbanding
Ariel replied to slimmy120's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So when i started out I only told my immediate family and my best freind. I was soo scared about what other people would say about the band and about me. And what made it even worse was that my parents always keep telling me not to tell anyone else but you know what, now I feel like this band is a big shameful secret and I think I am ready to tell people just so I can find some peace with myself. I have gotten to the point that I absolutly love my band, and if they don't like it they can take a hike. -
Hi everyone. I was banded by Dr. Vernon and I love her!! she is so easy to talk to and will answer all of your quations. I have been going to the faulkner for my after care and I absolutly love all the staff there especially the PA and secretary.

Oh dear .. My doc shocked me ...
Ariel replied to Pix's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok so your doctor does 4 days clear liquid, than full liquids, than solid foods. And your suggestion would be clear liqiuds, full liquids, mushies than solid if I followed your thread correctly. For me skipping the mushies is no big deal, as if you chew your food enough they will become mushy. I would just ask the doctor what research he has to back him up, but it does not seem like he is endangering his patients. -
If you don't love curves don't waste your money. You have been good for 3 weeks, but since you hate it you will most probably return to your old habits and not go. Now if you can find something that you love, you are soo much more apt to go. See if there are any womens gyms in your neighborhood.

How much weight can you really lose? How fast?
Ariel replied to BATassbandita?'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
1-2 pounds a week. My doctor told me people usually lose 60% of excess weight the first year and the last 40% within 5 years. -
Did anyone else 2nd guess their choice?
Ariel replied to westcoastmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a major freak out my second day. I thought I had made the biggest mistake in my life, and this was even after doing enough research to make your head spin. I'm alittle over a year out and it was without a doubt the best decision of my life. You get used to what you can eat, what is iffy, and what will go down smooth. It is a major life change and something that your mind has to get used to. It is not at all abnormal to grieve food and your old lifestyle. -
How about a skirt and top? And I wouldn't really worry about what color the bride likes or the color of the bridesmaid's dresses. The style that you pick will be different. And regarding the brides color choices don't let that limit you, she is not the one wearing the dress. Goodluck!

Is your surgeon a general surgeon?
Ariel replied to mommakatx2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is also a general surgeon, she just specalizes in WLS. I think most of the doctors do that. -
You know I can't remember the type but I do remember that I didn't even use a quater of it and I had no idea how to dispose of it.
-
It's very individual. Just take it slow with small small bites

Ariel replied to cmcallister2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Call your doctor!!!! Those are signs of an infection. You need to be seen ASAP. goodluck -
I'm going through the same thing. Infact when I went to buy a new jacket, another girl was there and she tried on a jacket that I had just put on. It didn't fit her but it did fit me but in my mind i was atleast 2x her size so I stood there for about 10mins feeling totally insane. I just kept looking at her then looking at myself in the mirror. I wasn't able to see myself as the same size or smaller than her, but hopefully I will soon.

Afraid of Anesthesia!!
Ariel replied to alicatcyclist's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had a bad wisdom teeth expericene. I told the doctors about it and they ensured me that the type of anesthesia they use are vastly different. With the wisdom teeth they usually use twilight meds while whith this surgery its general anesthesia. He basically said for alot of people the twilight meds are not effective but he has never seen a pt. that the general anesthesia was ineffective for. (Sorry for all this spelling errors, I'm so tired) -
When you have the surgery, are you put to sleep?
Ariel replied to nesser081982's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
