So Were U Scared To Bend Over, Exercise, etc.
Ariel replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You can move, bend and even get kicked in the port and it will be ok. I asked my surgeon about the last one as I started martial arts. The port is stiched in, its not going anywhere so feel free to move about. -
Congrats!!! Thats Great!

Well for me 6mos but only because i wanted it to be that long. I think it could have been as fast as 1-2 months
-
Thanks for the reminder. I'm going to try and make it but I start a new job on monday so I don't know what time I will be getting home.

What do you use to treat low blood sugars?
Ariel replied to susansilver's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Juice. If you are having problems getting juice down, you need an slight unfill. Liquids should go down with no problems. -
I can eat them

Does everyone get a shot in the stomach?
Ariel replied to MissieLyn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's no big deal at all. It either heparin or lovenox they are blood thinnners to prevent a blood clot with a tiny tiny needle. I didn't even feel it. It is really a small inconvienve compared to having a blood clot. -
When your glasses that used to leave marks on your face suddenly slip off.

Has your doctor actually offferd to do this? You can not see my port at all, and if in the future is does show up I have an easy fix, the port can be converted to low profile. I asked my surgon about this preop. She said most ppl don't need low profile but if for some reason once i lose my weight she can change it out.

Can bandsters eat corn on the cob?
Ariel replied to angelface's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yup. I love corn on the cob but i hated it pre-band how weird is that? -
I never heard of that, but it is not something that i would ever ever want. Can you imagine having to go for your fills and needing to drop your pants! No thanks. It dosen't seem possible for it to go there, no room and it might effect your sex life IMHO.

Did you tell your dr before the banding?
Ariel replied to aidamone's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My PCP is sooo supportive. I love her. In the past during my physicals she never mentioned my weight. When I brought up WLS surgery to her she was like well you qualify and then went on to describe all the different types. When I told her that I had been reserching the band for a yr and already had a dr. app she was thrilled. Now when i see her she is always sooo supportive and keeps telling me how amazing i am to take control of my health. Did i mention that i lover her? -
No question in my mind, vaccinate. Look at the %, not the horror stories.

Help me respond to friend's negativity...
Ariel replied to Blund's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
She is just jealous!! My best friend is the same way. When I started this lab band process she said that she was going to start a diet the day of my surgery. I have lost 60 lbs she has gained. She has become really bitter about my weight loss but it's at the point where I am just like shut up and get the band you need it and deep down you know you want it. -
how long after surgery did you have a drink
Ariel replied to jaylow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have my first drink until I was a year out. I'm not a big drinker so that was no biggie for me. Now since you will still be on liquids I would advise against it. Many drinks are carbonated and that is a big no no so close to surgery. Also you may still be on pain medications and you can not mix the two. I would ask your doctor to be on the safe side. -
For me my true personality is starting to come out. I was always really shy in social settings but now I am much more outgoing.
-
wow that sucks!!! I was really lucky my surgeon's office took care of everything. I know my PCP was involved but I don't know in what capacity. They have one person who all they do is handle the insurance companies. I always thought that it was standard practice but being on here I have learned that it's not. Goodluck and I Hope you find a better PCP.

I go by clothing size. For me size 6 and under is skinny. Size 8-12 normal and 14+ is heavy. But for different people those ranges are different.

Area under port incision has a firm lump -- normal?
Ariel replied to Cheryl Ann's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's the port. For me, a few months after the surgery it was not so big. I think it has to do with swelling. -
I've messed up big time, will I still have surgery
Ariel replied to yvonneb3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I gained 10lbs before surgery and was absolutly freaking out but I was never weighed so that was my little secret. -
good luck!! You can do this!
-
Wow I have lost 420 miles of blood vessles!! Love it
-
The way you described it was good. I don't know a better way.

I hate fat humor and I hate when skinny people laugh at it. It really makes me re-evaluate them on a personal level.

when I had it done the tech asked me how long I thought that I had slept. I felt like it was just an hour because I had such a hard time falling asleep. He told me that I slept 6 hours!! So sometimes are perceptions are off.
