If you are worried just call the doctor. Someone at the office will be able to tell you.

Where do you live? I have Tufts health plan and they were really great. I had my approval in days, and they even have nurses that call and check in on you.

anyone else question having te band right after surgery?
Ariel replied to skinnymom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey I'm on liquids right now and I feel your pain. I have been doing creamy soups and they have been a life saver. They were not on my list so i asked the nut. if it was ok and she said go ahead with it. I would advise you to call or email your nut. or pa. or doc and ask if you can have creamy soups. I too am worried if i will gain all this water weight back once i move onto mushies. Congrats on your weightloss so far! -
Baby Phat, we have the same doctor. When it comes times that i neeed/ want plastic surgery I plan on asking Dr. Vernon on who she considers the best, i figure that she will have experience from other patients. On a side note is she always running late when you see her. For my first appointment i waited about two hrs.

I agree with everyone else don't tell about the surgery. And i want to ditto what was already said, be very careful not to let the cyst burst. I had a large cyst that burst and it was the most painful thing in the world. I went into the er and they immediatly started preping me for emergency surgery, luckily the surgeon wanted an ultrasound before they operated and they found that the cyst had burst. So please be very careful. -
I had an unfortunate experience with vomitting. The day after being banded i got a stomach virus. After trying two different anti-nausea meds the doctor told me to get to the ER. They admitted me and I stayed for two nights. Not a fun experience but thankfully no damage done to the band. So i guess worst case sceniro if you get a stomach bug you may have to make a trip to the hospital. But the doctor did tell me they were being extra careful since i was 1 day post op.

The 'surgical' part is getting me anxious...
Ariel replied to sherilynn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The anesthesia is the part I am looking forward to. =) I am having my surgery tomorrow and right now i am a nervous wreck, the waiting is driving me nuts. I have had a surgery before and they do give you meds to help you relax before they take you into the OR. But honestly the anesthesia is a miracle. For me the last time, all i remember is my doctor holding my hand saying you will do great and the next thing i knew they were telling me it was done. Honestly the anesthesia is the easiest part of surgery. You don't have to do anything. -
Is your sister overweight? You are going to look so hot, she is just jealous.

Sorry about your dog. How old is she?

I have all ready set up some goals and rewards for myself. For 20 lbs it will be a manicure/ pedicure. For 40 lbs a facial. For 60 lbs a theater show. For 80 lbs a massage and for 100lbs a trip either to Disney world or some tropical local. I'm hoping all these self indulgent rewards will motivate me during the rough times.

Newbie and looking for a Doc in Boston
Ariel replied to timeforchange's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I go to Dr. Ashley Vernon at Brigham and Womens. She is really nice and her support staff is fantastic. To get more reviews of doctors try obesityhelp.com they have a section that reviews hospitals and surgons. It really helped me to make my decision. Goodluck! -
beversman don't feel bad about lying about the surgery. Like NGAdams i also said it was woman surgery lol. I would much rather be associated with woman stuff than fat stuff. But i wish i had waited a few days bcz i found out at my pre op that i have a hiatal hernia so i could have said hernia repair and it wouldn't have been a lie. but oh well, what is done is done.
