Welcome Tazzamaraz! I'm from Brighton USA, so when I saw your thread I had to say hi. Goodluck with the band!
-
before whenever I went on a diet I would be good for about one day then I would eat massive amounts of foods more than if I were not on a diet. So far being banded this has not happened. However I still do feel hunger it is just not as intense as before and i can be satisfied with a lot less. So don't worry ot not just you with the diet binge eating.

Hey guys I'm back. School started so I have been a little preoccupied sorry. So far I have gotten good exercise just walking around campus. I have shin splints right now from rushing to my class the other day. The eating however is not that great, I'm still on mushies/ soft foods for the next few days but I am starving with it so I have had some solids and they are great!!! No problems. I have to focus on drinking more water but last night my sister brought my fav. pizza home for dinner and I didn't have a piece so that good. Thanks you guys for getting me back on here!

I'm having the same problem, by the time i get to 30 chews half the food has already slid down my throat. I guess practice will make perfect but man its hard.

So how do you exercise when you have multiple physical problems
Ariel replied to bitteroldhag's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Bitteroldhag, does the college you teach at have a gym? Many times the schools gym will have a personal trainer design an exericse program especailly for you for free. You could ask them to design a program for home or for the gym. Water aerobics are really great for people with moblity issues or simply out of shape. Whatever the way just get active!! -
Having problems getting Psycologist approval
Ariel replied to sdipiazza's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Is this with a Psycologist that was recommended by the program? When I had my app. it was with the program's psycologist and it was fast, like 15 mins. She asked me why i wanted the surgery, if i had done research and know the pros and cons, what my support system is like, my family history, then she had me take a mini mental test and that was it. I would find another psycologist and speak with someone at the WLS office about your experience they might give you names of some people. Goodluck -
Congrats!!!! That's a really funny NSV. =)

I have never had canned chicken, does it have the same texture of tuna? Would I be able to eat that on mushies? Thanks -
Goodluck!!

Where did you lose first?
Ariel replied to timeforchange's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I am just starting put but so far it has been mostly in my thighs and a little in my face. -
Jodie, man i feel ya. I am also in college and there are only about 5 overweight people on campus. I also feel invisable when i walk around campus and it basically just stinks. But you know what when i go back this semester i will be secretly be smiling to myself because i have a secret weapon. I can change what others precieve as "unactractive" but they can't ( sorry about the spelling/typos I'm so tired)

Booked my Surgery for Feb 15 07
Ariel replied to onedayskinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The hard part was the pre op diet. Post op i have been fine. It has been alittle over two weeks and I am still not really hungry. If you can get through the pre op then you can make it post op. (based on my limited experience being post op) -
I'm ready to commit. A new spring and a new me! Today i went for a long walk along the river and I increased my water intake hopefully I can keep this up.

Why not just take thyroid meds, that way insurance will prob. pay for most of it?

What's the worst thing someone said to you?
Ariel replied to annieM's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went out with this guy for a week. Then one day when we were out walking he tells me that he wants to break up with me because all his friends were making fun of him for going out with a fat girl, and also that he was sick of spending all his money to buy me ice cream. Wow that hurt especially the fact that we had never once gone out and got ice cream and to top it off i was just a little overweight then. -
One of my friends did that diet, she said the cookies were disgusting. She could only follow it for a week before she gave up. Have you talked to your doctor about your weight loss. Maybe he could shed some light. Goodluck to you and let us know how it goes.

If it not too late I would love to meet you guys. I will be bringing a guest, if that is ok.

When I saw the segment i got very upset. How dare they make comments like that. Overweight people are treated badly for being overweight and then when they do something and have WLS they are taunted for taking the "easy way" out. what's up with that? WLS is anyting but easy, i know for me it is the hardest thing i have ever done and I'm just two weeks post op, hopefully it will get easier. But the last thing i need is some tv show host telling america that WLS is the easy way out.

The day after being banded i had a stomach bug...what a lovely experience. I called the doctor and after switching to a different anti-nausea med and having that not work she sent me to the er. Long story short i spent three days in the hospital but no damage was done to my band. thank god.

Right when i got home i had a major freak out. I thought what did i do, i'm not ready etc. Then i relized that i am ready that i have done the research, that i have lbt to support me and that i made the right decision. Just work through the emotions, you have just undergone major surgery and you body and mind has to heal.
-
I was soo annoyed by that segment. The easy way out... yeah because surgery is soo easy and the weight magically falls off. They should do some research before they bash WLS. And was it me or was the first woman very arrogant. She acted like she knew everything about weightloss while in my own mind i thought she could stand to lose some more, maybe I'm just being mean now.

I was approved before I even knew the doctors office sent out the paperwork. For my insurance company the secretary said it usually takes between 2-4 days. Basically they know real quick if they will approve you.

Anyone else extremely nervous???
Ariel replied to rachel73's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
for me i was fine until i got to the hospital. I had a major freak out there.... i almost left the only thing that calmed me down was thinking how ridiculous i would look. Now I am so happy that i went through with it. And it's normal to freak out alittle, try not to worry. -
My post op instructions said 4-6 weeks but I would check with your doctor/nurse just to be sure.
