- I have done soooo many diets with little to no weight loss, usually a gain - In school I had a hard time fitting into the chairs, i had to drop one class because i could not sit in the chair. ( it was in a lecture hall) -I no longer swim and i love love love to swim - I was closer to 300 than 200 and that scared me to no end - I can only shop at very limited stores. lane bryant has too much of my money!! - My personality has changed, i used to be out going. Those are just a few reasons.

Green, i caught the tail end of the show but i believe that the two will be having sugery but at this point they are too big for the surgery. He said that they couldn't find a surgon that would touch them. They have to lose a significant amount of weight and they can then have the surgery. But i agree with you something more than glutony is going on.

Four days until surgery no period, but four negative preggo test
Ariel replied to ari's topic in The Gals' Room
Just call your doctor so they can do a blood test. It might be the stress of the surgery or if you are on a liquid diet that could disrupt your cycle. Are you using the pregenacy strips designed for early dectection since you are only a week late? -
My doctor picked the number. She said it was based on the fact that most people lose 70% of their excess weight.

So when do I get unhungry?
Ariel replied to AtlantaShooter's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
enterprise i have the opposite experience from you. Before when i was hungry it would be very painful and i had to eat ASAP! Now the hunger is more like an annoyance and it can wait a little while. -
Kbattal, you seem to bring up the topic of self fills often, may I ask why?

I can't feel anything. Post op i could feel the port but now i can't.

My PCP "doesn't recommend" Dr. Fox at SWLC!
Ariel replied to TheCascadian's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Well i guess it come down to do you trust your pcp. Personally if my PCP told me that i would switch doctors because i think she has my best interest at heart. However if you feel unsure just check with the state board like jack said. -
When I had my first surgery when i was like 13 I told the doctor that i didn't want to take off my underwear. He replied no prob. we take them off when your under. So if it would make you feel better ask if they can take it off after you are out. But honestly once they give you the happy meds you will not care who sees you naked. And seeing a naked person does not phase them in the least. So all in all don't worry about it.

I had really bad growls the first few days, it calms down thankfully.

Is it the nurses or the aids? If it is the nurses are they RN's or LPN's? I am very sorry to hear about that.I had a very similar experience with my grandmother. We had to put her in a nursing home, and several times she had to be hospitialized for dehydration which i found unacceptable. To this day i believe it was thier lack of care that caused her death.

i plan on getting it and i truly don't understand the people that don't want their daughters to get it.

How did you determine your "goal weight"?
Ariel replied to edieparks's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well my doctor told me my goal should be 180 but i would love to be 140. I want to be closer to the 100's than the 200's. But for me the scale is not the most important thing. I want to be able to shop at any store so i figure a size 8/10 would be perfect. -
Hey i just turned 20 but i had the surgery when i was 19. So far it has been a great decision. I am sick of being obese and i knew that i couldn't lose the weight on my own. i see it as proactive.

Did you count surgery day as 1st post op day?
Ariel replied to BabyGotBack's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor called surgery day post op day 0. -
Ok guys I'm in nursing school and we have to start health assesment. We work on each other and everyweek we change partners. My problem is what do I do with my band? I had surgery dec 27th so the scars are still very visable and the port is slightly painful. Should i tell the teacher that i had the lap band and ask her if i could be exempt from having other students work on my belly. I don't want any one to know that i had the lap band and i don't know how i would explain the scars and port ( we are learing to give a full physical so they will be touching my belly) and to top that off i am the only overweight person in my whole nursing class so it would be wicked embarassing for all the skinny girls to see my big belly:cry I am just scared what she will say to me if i tell her. I don't know what to do. Thanks for any advice and insights.

Thanks Lisa and Rene, I guess i will just tell the instructor. I'm nervous about what she will say but i guess oh well. Lisa, on one of our days we have to work with a partner and find out the other persons BMI using a number of different methods did you have to do this? I think that day i will just die of embarassment so i will prob. skip it. If you did it how did you handle that day?

Some yoga moves require alot of abdominal work and my doctor said no abdominal work for three months after surgery so i would think of a really good excuse now. Just talk to your doctor and take it easy after surgery!!!

how long would someone be off work?
Ariel replied to andreerichards1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm a student but i work part time in a store as a stocker, I'm taking about 6 weeks off. My doctor said no lifting more than 10 lbs for 6 weeks and since I'm always lifting more than that I decided to play it safe. I would much rather be out a couple bucks than to risk my band.
