Same day surgery? Not here :-(
Ariel replied to SillyWillyMommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stayed a night and was very grateful. I have had day surgery before and let me tell you i think they give you more meds when you stay the night. Thinking about how out of it I was, I can not imagine not staying a night. Trust me after the surgery you will be thankful! -
Is it possible to drive yourself home after??
Ariel replied to rachelb123's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
oh no way. If you need a ride call a taxi or if it is far get a car service. Even if you were physcally able to drive, would you be able to live with yourself if you got into a car accident and killed someone? It's like driving drunk but way worse. -
Scared after painful fill, really no-fill
Ariel replied to skyeblu79's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a tilted port so when i get a fill, its usually multiple sticks and alot of searching around. What helps is if they put a pillow under the middle of your back its a little uncomfortable but makes it much easier to get to the port. You really should get the lidocaine. It helps way more than with just the inital prick. I don't mind the inital prick at all its the searching that's painful. With the lidocaine I don't feel the searching at all. You should really use it. Ask you doctor to do an xray as well. I hope the next fill is much better. -
LB treats thier coustomers sooo badly. They are sweet to you while you are shopping but the second you have a problem they turn into these evil creatures. I can not wait until i can shop elsewear. And for those of you that are saying to yourself so just don't shop there, the reason i have to shop there is because they carry my size and have styles other than old lady mumu dresses in horrible frabics and prints. LB knows this so they think they can't disregard out compliants.

SweetHot I am so impressed with you. You have kept your calm despite attempts to provoke you. I don't know anything about the Mormon religion but you are making it look creditable. Ok and whats up with the underwear???

Welcome!! I too have delt with skeptical people. My father was the hardest person to tell, for about two weeks he was very negative and telling me about all these people that had RNY and were gaining weight back. However after he had seen all the research that I had done and did some more of his own he is completly supportive. He even wants my sister to get it done! Alot of the time people just do not know about the lap band they hear wls surgery and think only of RNY. Good luck on your journey.

My doctor also gave me a prescription.

If you are having nausea after you eat it may be a sign that you ate too much. However since you also have diarrhea I think you have a stomach bug. I hope you feel better soon.

A fill makes you eat less. As you eat less your weightloss will increase. Some people require a certain number of calories a day that they need in order to lose weight, meaning if they go under it they will not lose. For you right now it sounds like you don't need a fill. To increase your weightloss try exercising or if you are currently exercising try upping it a little. Go to you app. and talk with your doctor and maybe do some more reading about the band. I hope that helps you. I see that you have a low BMI, where were you banded and are you self pay?

Do you need some motivation too?
Ariel replied to flabuless's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
That sounds great! and maybe if you put ads on the website you could make some side money =) -
Since you were just banded on March 11th you have alot of restriction from just the surgery alone. Some people can go months with out needing a fill, others are back to preband days by now. When your restriction wears off you will need to eat more in order to get the same feeling of saity, at that time you would get a fill.

I don't think its your port.

Hey guys, So I am having trouble telling when I am satisfied. When I eat I don't feel anything. I stop eating before I feel full but the weird thing is around 20 mins later I get this feeling that I ate way too much. What should i do? Should i just slow down eating or what? Thanks for your help.

That was alot of fun. I love the air plane story i can so relate to the dreaded seats!! And don't worry, to me you sounded nothing like an American. Infact the whole time i was admiring your beautiful accent. Speaking as an American i feel like our accents make us sound so dumb sometimes, and whenever an English/ Australian/ New Zealand person speaks they always sound so smart. I’m jealous.

Thanks guys. I will slow down even more.

My goal weight is what my doctor decided. I don't plan on stopping once i reach there but it seems like a much more reasonable goal to hit than my dream goal of 140. The number is not so important to me as the clothing size. I would love to be a size 8.

I just waited. For me it was really fast. I did not even know the office had sent in the paperwork when i got the letter in the mail.

Help after operation?
Ariel replied to captain danbo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would say to have one person stay with you for at least one day post op. Unlike most people I got sick after surgery. I was so sick infact that I was pretty much out of it and did not relize how ill I was. If i was alone it could have been a dangerous situation. My mom was there and was able to call the doctor. I ended up staying 4 days in the hospital but I'm great now and i love my band. Play it safe and have someone with you. -
So far I can still eat everything. I hope to keep it that way.
-
I asked my doctor that question. She said when you have all the weight a thin port would be too hard to find under the fat. Hence they give you the normal one and once you have lost the weight you can switch to a thin one.
-
As long as you feel up to still go. Just lower the intensity a tad. If your gym has a steam room that can be great for colds.
-
I would not have doubted it so much.
-
The fact that you gained weight means you need a fill. Go to the doctor!

worried doctor wont approve lap band
Ariel replied to becca4uf's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was so impressed about the amount of research that she fully supported my idea. I was 19 when i talked to my doctor about it. It went so much more smoothly that i expected. Just know you facts. Show that you have done research.
