I love this site! I have bounced around a bit, I'm just waiting for a few replies. I'm not very internet/forum saavy but I'll manage.:nervous i have been checking out the band for over a year. Had Bc/Bs- they didn't cover. Had UHC-they excluded but promised to look at it on a case-bycase basis. BIG FAT LIE. Now i have iowa medicaid-only covers bypass after three years documented physician assisted dieting.I'm soon to have benefits in NE, as I am moving over the river. I am ANXIOUSLY awaiting some news-maybe banded by the end of Aug?:faint: Anyway-I'm eating one Protein shake a day, saying goodbye to favorite foods, and gaining weight. I feel like the band is my last best hope-I HAVE to do this or I think i will die from all my co-morbidities. I have six BEAUTIFUL children, and god willing, with my weight under control i can have MORE!!!:clap2: Please reply, I'm dying to hear from someone. Does anyone know how to add the ticker tape?

I know what you mean about how you feel. I don't even recognize myself in the mirror and i feel like everyone assumes i'm incapable of making good choices because of my weight. Good luck with your information night.You will learn alot.I had to hand carry all supporting doctors files, referrals, etc.. to my info. night.(NE) No matter what-don't get discouraged,delays and denials happen frequently. You have to be determined and have a good support system.LOL

Wow, that is messed up. Good luck-third-times-a-charm and all-but seriously, don't give up. Just "regroup" if you have to . sometimes it takes awhile, patience, prayer, and supportive people from this website go A LONG WAYS!

I've been on a "last supper syndrome" rollercoaster. I thought I would hear about my surgery date alot sooner but have been having insurance blues.Once I was denied I went downhill fast. I think I've gained 14 lbs. in 2 months. I can't take it much longer. I've been saying fond ,and long, "goodbye's to things that weren't supposed to take this long.

Billie, Hey,howdy,hey! I was so excited to find someone close to me. I also have Dr. Hung!(Although I'm living over the river in C.B.) I used to have BCBS/state of Iowa and they wouldn't cover no way no how. Now I have insurance blues of my own.:cry I was soooo depressed when I got my rejection letter.I now have uhc and they have been a nightmare to work with so far.No one ever gives a straight answer.It's so frustrating!

Hi everyone! I'm in need of a few good friends right now. I've been researching lap-band for 1 1/2 years. Had BC/BS of Ne. They refused to cover for ANY reason. Iowa medicaid only covers bypass after three years of documented physician assisted dieting. Now I have United Health care-the top "premier"-THEY said it was EXCLUDED, but would take it on a Case-by-case basis with a surgeon's predetermination letter. Needless to say I'm so depressed because I was denied-the co. said"You have a policy exclusion for obesity surgery" DUH!!!!! I feel hoodwinked too since we could have changed our coverage by June 28 and not paid out $300/mo. for insurance we can't use!!! any good advice? Does anyone have United Health care-Overture Premier?(Tier 3)
