  1. Man am I glad I see some progress! Finally got to adjust my weight loss ticker today for the very first time by 8.2 pounds as a result of 4 days of Protein shakes and low carbs. But I am sooooo hungry:( I think it is slowly getting better with each day, but these first few days are ROUGH!! My surgeon told me I didn't have to start my preop till after the 4th of July clebration... how nice, except the lovely midwest weather caused our celebration to be postponed until the 5th:( I sucked it up and did all liquids on the 5th during the party. SOOO HARD! 4th of July is when the family brings together their yummiest summertime recipes *tear*. BUT... I got on the scale this morning and I'm down 8.2 pounds! I really needed this to keep me going. I sure hope it gets easier though:bored:
  2. I am helping my brother through this process (I have Tricare and am approved for surgery July 13)... he has Blue Cross Blue Shield FEP (Federal Employee Program). Does anyone know if they cover lap band? Does anyone know know where I can find info on their requirements if they do? I went to their website and was unable to find the info he needs. He has spoken to a surgeon who sent him to a nutritionist to lose some weigh first. Right now that is all he knows or has done. I also sugested he jointhis site:) Thanks for any info out there!!! -kat
  3. hey there.... don't get too down on yourself, as long as you refocus. i have gained 3 pounds back, and had to put my fill off a week because my father-in-law had a heart attack and i couldn't get to my surgeon. i too have to refocus big time, but i am determined to. we will both get back on track...

don't kick yourself too much for what you eat... worry more about portion size. forgive yourself and move on. keep in touch!!!

    need advice

the foaming is more like a PB.. sliming is the saliva type stuff that comes up into your mouth that is produced to ease a "stuck" down through the band. this would usually happen to me when i eat too fast. if you are not getting full on less food, you probably need a fill, but, really start to eat slower or the PB'ing will get worse!
  5. I am soooo proud of you!!! WTG!!

I am stuck at minus 23 pounds, but have a fill in about 10 days. Restriction makes all the difference. :)

  6. Hi !!

Sorry I am just now getting back to you. Yes I had my first fill and it makes a big difference, i feel so much restriction. It took a full week to get used to this. I was sliming, PBing, and getting stuck. But now that I take my meals really slow, especially that first bite, I do well and it really does keep me from eating too much, or eating the wrong things.

Let me know how your first fill goes!! Hang in there, that fill will make a difference!!

  7. your band should never be so tight that you cannot drink water down...especially to the point of dehydration. have you ever had problems with your blood sugar??

    any one banded 7/15/09

hello- i was banded July 13th and lost about 20 so far incuding preop diet. i had a 2 week plateau where i lost nothing post op (after liquid stage) ..but got a fill on aug 10th. now i feel good restriction. i may have lost more since my fill, (but haven't checked only because it is that time of the month and i don't want that clouding the real weight). the first fill makes a big difference in feeling full and not being so hungry.
  16. maybe you shouldn'twait until next week. if everything has been fine the past 5 weeks, and you just suddenly woke up with this great discomfort, you should call your surgeon, and see him sooner if possible.
  17. Now this an explanation that not only makes sense, but souds like it actually feels... to me. :w00t: but i would sure be interested in what your doc explains to you.:sneaky:

    Is this weird?

what a fantastic idea. renewed motivation is key. many of us are food addicts, and like any addict, if you fall off the wagon, it's like you never stopped using, you start all over again from scratch. i am not saying you are an addict, OR that you fell off the wagon, just comparing how important starting over is on such a tough, life-long, journey. great idea! Best of luck!!

    severe bruising...

my heparin injection was low on the front of my belly and very bruised... many injections are also given in the hip. the other bruising... all over the abdomen.. is clearly from the incision areas and all the work done there, but the belly and hip sure sound like an injection site...and they always feel lumpy and sore in addition to the bruising.
  21. katwmn63

    Lumpy...

all normal stuff... i have it too.
  22. I have tried to stay positive, I have stayed with the program to the letter, I get on the scale at the same time every morning, I want to continue to have hope... but like all the diets all the years before, stepping on that scale, instead, is sending me into depression...especially now when i have had the highest of hopes ever having the lapband. -i was banded 18 days ago and have been back to full activity, including my karate classes for over a week (docs approved) - i had a fill at surgery and feel "some" restriction, BUT, will get stuck if i push it (twice). averages per day are 900 cals , 28 carbs and 52 Protein... DOC agrees i should be losing weight with these averages and something is wrong. He wants to wait til sunday to check my weight before we do anything yet. - i recently uber increased Water intake (peeing all day) and cut out all salt. - my measurements haven't moved either since 4 days post op. i have lost nothing... in fact ...i have gained a pound so goes the story of my entire fat life... only the most restrictive, unhealthy, self-depriving of diets have EVER worked for me...and of course with those, it all comes back when you eat normal again (15 of the 16.5 lost per my ticker were preop liquids). i know it is early, but really, i do not see a light at the end of my tunnel.:crying:... what more can one do??????

    Just NOT Working

yes- this has, hands down, been the hardest part of this whole thing so far. i fully understand why they call this bandster hell. i continue to think positively and sometimes it is very hard...especially when the scale is not on my side. i am finaly starting to drop a pound here and there, but am focusing on my first fill. the important thing for me was to not throw in the towel due to lack of progress now.... much like i had done with every diet attempt in my past. i do not want this to fail... and you have so much invested in this. focus on your upcoming fill(s). I do wish you the best. we'll do it!!
  24. i don't jump for an hour or two, but i do jump occasionally, and have no problems.
  25. katwmn63

    Approved!!!

WTG!!! ...and you are already off to a great start! keep up the good work and best of luck on the 11th! keep us posted:-)
