I don't think there is really anything to do except stick with it and keep getting your fills. SOoner or later you will get the restriction you need. I know it's hard not to be impatient. I definitely need more restriction as well.

I would tell people "I am eating the healthiest diet that I have ever ate. I exercise an hour to two hours daily. " That's the truth, right? Do you think if you just got the band, but didn't exercise and ate Haagen Das all day you would have the success you are? Go ahead and tell people about the changes you have made and don't feel dishonest, because it's not. YOU, your mindset and the changes you made are a large part of your success. I'm not telling anyone about my surgery. It's no one's business but my own.

You look awesome in the ad and congrats on the new baby!!

You worked very hard to get where you are, so be proud! However, I totally understand the ashamed part. When I had lost weight in the past, I was thrilled for people to tell me how good I looked and notice that I lost weight, but not to harp on it too much or ask exactly how much weight I lost. I hated to have to put an actual number to it, to how how overweight I was/am.

How do you get protein in w/o shakes????
Moxi replied to skinny31's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
-Protein Bars (I like Zone Perfect Dark Chocolate) -Greek Yogurt -Light Cheese (Weight Watchers has a 1pt/50 cal cheese stick that is good. Also Laughing Cow has yummy light spreadable cheese) - Cottage Cheese -
Gatorade G2 is really quite good and sugar free. It will be good especially right after surgery when you need to re-hydrate.

Body Bugg- Learned a lot about myself with this!!

A couple questions: 1. How is it overestimating your calories? Do you mean that you think the calorie counts of foods on their website are a bit high, or is it doing something else? 2. The watch portion of it that you can clip on your pants, bag etc.......If I am in a meeting, can I leave it in my office (so it doesn't beep during the meeting) and then when my armband and I return to the office with they sync? Or do they need to be in constant close proximity for the info on the watch to be correct? Bear with me if these are silly ques. I didn't get mine yet (tomorrow) and I'm a bit excited. -

I'm still around just not being quite as good as I was with the holidays and all that. I am anxiously awaiting my first fill on New Years Eve morning. It doesn't look like there will be any snacks for me that night.....oh well. -

I just bought one as well (actually I got the GoWearFit, but it appears they are essentially the same thing). I'm looking forward to using it. I really think seeing the numbers will be motivating to me to get me to exercise more to meet my goals, and help take some of the guesswork out how much to eat/how much to exercise. -
Congrats! How awesome to know you lost weight and then realize that you are even smaller than you thought you were! Some new clothes were difinitely in order!

I'm wondering how many are counting calories, or just portion size of normal foods, or a formal diet like WW or no changes at all except less food. I want to know what's working for everyone.

What do you think about this?
Moxi replied to Moxi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's what I though. I know my hunger isn't in my head at this point...but I know that's part of the deal when you first get banded. Also, I haven't been cutting my bites up or taking fingernail sized bites, so it's probably my fault that I get stuck. I will try that. -
I was banded the 11th of Nov. I recovered pretty quickly was hungry, did fine with liquids and mushies and didn't notice any restriction. I still felt roughly the same amount of hunger as before the band. My Dr. gave me the go ahead for solids, as long as I was careful, so that when they did my first fill they would know what things got hung up and such. I didn't think I had any restriction until I started eating solids and now I get stuck a lot. Not horribly stuck, but briefly stuck. I'm not sure if I'm still getting used to chewing chewing chewing or if it's something else. The second part of it is that I'm still really hungry most of the time. So getting stuck a lot and being hungry all the time don't seem to add up to me. I'm worried about when I get my first fill if it will make things a lot worse.

Thanks, Donna. I have noticed that it is almost always one of the first few bites that gets me, and then often I do ok after that. I'm thinking maybe it's just the reminder to chew like crazy. I do let myself get too hungry b/c I'm trying to keep my calories down thru willpower. I have a fill scheduled the end of this month. Hopefull that will make a difference for me. -
How did you feel the day after surgery?
Moxi replied to TN_girl21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was going to say that there is no way I could have flown the day after surgery. I couldn't have handeled getting thru the airport and all that, plus I had vomitting and diarrhea from the barium swallow. But if you're going on a private plane and don't have to go thru a lot to get there, then maybe. -

I'm pretty sure it's getting stuck. There is some pain (I wouldn't say a lot) and a stuck feeling. Sometimes if it's bad (happened twice) I've had to spit out my saliva b/c it backed up. I do eventually feel the food slide down and then total relief. -
So I'm thinking that I will be on mushies for Thanksgiving. I will be eating with a whole bunch of people that do not know, and I do not plan on telling about my band. So I'm thinking my choices will be: -Mashed Potatoes -Stuffing -Green Bean Casserole (blech) -Cranberry Sauce -Smooshed Sweet Potatoes and that's about it. None of these are really healthy choices. Anyone have any ideas of a mushy semi-healthy dish that I could bring that wouldn't be out of place at Thanksgiving? Thanks!

I'm doing well. I have some pain in my port area (which I think is normal at this point) but other than that, I would never know I had anything done. In a way, that's kind of good and bad. I need some restriction!

Any November 2009 Bandsters??
Moxi replied to 120inside's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me...kind of. The day after surgery I had some nausea/vomiting/diarrhea and felt crappy overall. After that I was fine. I never had any gas pain and never took any of the pain medicine they sent home with me. Of course I didn't feel 100%. I was tired and a bit sore, but not torture. -
I really don't think the antibiotics should be a problem. Hopefully they will say the same thing when you call.
-
I was invited to go out to dinner while on mushies. Any ideas what I could order? I don't think there will be eggs. Is pasta of any kind considered mushy?

Thanks! I was looking at the menu and they do have crabcakes. What about something like chicken noodle soup or another soup with soft chunks? -
That's me. I was banded on the 11th. I was seriously hungry within 2 days of surgery and now I feel like I can eat everything and anything. I certainly haven't tried, so maybe I'm wrong, but I feel that way!
