  1. I think a week is considered the standard amount of time recommended by most surgeons it seems. I took a week and was fine to go back to work. I wasn't 100% but good enough.

    Super Secret

My husband is the only one who knows, so mine is a super secret too.

Cruzlady, I was just wondering if you have had a fill yet or if this is just from the restriction from the band alone?
  4. I was banded a little over a week ago. I am doing well, back to work. My only problem is that one of my incisions hurts like a bugger! It looks great, not infected or anything but there is a hard lump underneath that hurts. It's probably my port (yep, I don't know) but seems more painful than it should be. I go for my post op on Tuesday. Other than that I'm hungry all the time. I feel like I could eat like I normally would. I'm not, of course. I'm just starting some mushies.
  5. I hope you are feeling better tomorrow, counselor!
  6. The only fish on my mushy guidelines is canned tuna (or pureed fish blech) Regualr fish and rice don't appear until the "softs" menu
  7. I hear you! I'm looking forward to the time when I can see myself in pictures and not be mortified.
  8. I am scheduled to have my surgery a week from Wednesday. We assume my dd had H1N1 and now it appears that my son does too. I'm soooo worried I am going to end up sick and not be able to have my surgery! I have the week off from work and all that. It will be a mess. Keep your fingers crossed that I stay healthy, pls.
  9. Have you joined the banded in November group yet?

  10. I have Pure Protein Vanilla and Chocolate from Target and they are pretty good. They come in a huge vat, though. I also have the single serving Muscle Milk lighht. The MM have a very sweet, artificial taste that I don't like much but are very convenient for when you're on the go.

    Starving!

If you are on true clear liquids (not protein shakes) then I would call the Dr's office and let them know you are hungry and see if you can start shakes. I'm not a huge shake fan but they do really help with the hunger.
  12. I was banded last week. Mabye you throat is dry/irritated from when they intubated you? Make sure you're drinking enough, that will probably help. Take care.
  13. Yeah, I would have just skipped it and sent my husband! The good new is that Pasta is soft so maybe you'll be able to eat it soon.
  14. I'm about 6 days post op and I don't even know where my port is! I've gently felt around all the incision to see if I could feel it but I can't and I don't want to poke around too much at this point of course.
  15. I'm just getting the plain old flu shot not the H1N1. I work in health care and around kids so I get it every year. I really want to avoid vomiting now. They actually offered to gove it to me as I was being discharged from the hospital...the day after my surgery!! I declined. I don't think my poor bod was ready for that at that point. From my own experience and reading others herer it seems like people all have different reactions to the surgery. Probably your age and health level influences how well you bounce back. The day after was a bit rough for me, as I had nausea, some vomitting and diarrhea but it's been essentially smooth sailing from there. I was really worried about gas pain but I had none, at all. I didn't take any of the pain medicine they sent home with me. The only pain I have is from the "big" incision on my belly. It's not terrible pain, just wound type pain that hurts when I bend over. So it's very tolerable. Try not to worry. :w00t:
  16. Hi Gracie's mom! I'm still around. I managed to not get sick and was banded this past Wednesday. I felt terrible on Thursday, but all and all things went well and I feel much better now. Looking into getting my flu shot next week. :w00t: I see your surgery is coming up soon...will be here before you know it. If I don't "see" you before then, good luck!
  17. I looked into it more and yes, it is the one the use on Biggest loser.

    freeware tracking software?

www.sparkpeople.com allows you to enter your weight and measurements and keeps track of it. You can also do you foods there too. Fitday.com does the same, I believe.
  19. I see that this post was a couple days ago. How are you feeling now?
  20. Yes, I did and do worry about it. I am only a few days post op. A friend of mine did fail with the band (I'm not sure of her specifics) and ended up having a RNY, so it can happen and that's why we need to stick to the plan. But yeah I had a terrible time sticking to the pre-op diet.
  21. Seriously??!! What is wrong with them?
  22. The second day was the worst for me. I didn't have gas, but nausea/diarrhea. On the 3rd day I felt 100x better. I hope it's the same for you. Just hang in there!
  23. I would get a second opinion. My concern was not so much that he encouraged RNY over the band, b/c I think a number of Dr's, mine included would prefer to do a RNY for people with more to lose, but that he tried to discourage you from surgery altogether b/c your in perfect health. I would think at 400lbs, it's just a matter of time before you health is not perfect anymore. I was 250 and in perfect health when I had my surgery (3 days ago:wink:) but I just knew that diabetes and health issues were in my future if I kept going to the path I was going. I would get a second opinion, get all your info together and then make the decision that's right for you.
