Swanny, The Island is beautiful and the people are great too. I think Island life is more relaxed than the fast pace of the cities. I am originally from the Maritimes and have a few best friends who still call the Island home - it is a great place to live or visit. Anything to keep your mind off food is great - I go for walks and bike rides with my kids (great exercise too). Being back at work and the insane world of stress also helps keep my mind off food. Hope you have a great week. Roxanne

Hi Green, Doc told me to use any Protein or meal supplement I felt comfortable with - I use Ensure - I like the taste. I'm back at work and sip on one all morning. It seems to curb the appetite and gives me the vitamens I need. I'm feeling unrestricted and my fill has been moved back to 17 Oct. It seems along time to wait but I'm trying to stick to the plan - at times the head hunger is returning - mostly evenings when I'm tired. Aren't those soups wonderful??? Have a great week. Cloe - thanks! Roxanne

Hi Kim, We all have weak moments and falling off the wagon so to speak is part of our process(but lets save the little kids at the library - I hear they have tiny bones that you might choke on - LOL). I haven't had a fill yet and I'm starving but I asked the doc what to do and they said to add another Ensure and some pureed food - I made pureed carrots and that seemed to satisfy the hunger. My fill isn't scheduled until Oct so it may not be enough. I've stopped losiing but I'm feeling better. It's ok to feel down but you have to pick yourself back up and start again. One day at a time - baby steps to get to your goal. YOU can DO IT! It may seem a long ways away but if you set smaller goals and add small rewards to it - you will succeed. Look at all those pulling for you. In your past posts you have encouraged and kept others on track. That's what friends do.... support and guide now it's our turn to support you. Good luck this week and keep us posted.

Hi Andree, I don't think it's possible to not lose weight on their pre-op diet. They modified it for me and I still lost (I thought it would be impossible). Just talk to them and let them know it will be difficult for you. They are there to make it and your surgery a success. Good luck!

Hi All, Green, to get that blood out of your clothes soak in cold Water, then add either a detergent paste or use liquid Tide and with an old toothbrush scrub stain in circular motion, Wash, this should get those blood stains out. I was banded on 31 Aug at the TLBC. Glad I did it and I'm in my second week of post op diet. I'm looking forward to "normal" food. Kids and husband have been great. I've kept it from co-workers as they are a very critical bunch and wouldn't appreciate the tool I've been given. Good luck with your first week home. Thanks to all for your advice. I love to visit and view your tips. Have a great (soggy) weekend.

Hi Faybie, I'm 5 days post op and still healing! I was told the same thing about the additional meals . They have scheduled my next appt with a fill even though they said everone is different for when to do the first fill. She told me I would know. I'm hoping I can tell the difference between "mind hunger" and not satisfying the hunger I need to feed. This whole journey scares me. So far I'm down 16 (that's with both pre-op diet and after surgery) I'm too swollen right now to be losing anything. I was praying it would fall off but sigh... no luck. Have a great day!

Neenah! Hope your surgery went well. I think we shared the waiting room. There was a back up with timings and you went in late. I didn't go in until almost 3:00 - I got back home just after 8 pm. It was a looong day. How are you feeling? Looking forward to hearing from you! Roxanne

Nana, DDR is the hottest dance video games the tweens are playing. Music plays and an animated dancer (with arrows) shows them where to put their feet on a pad that's under their sock feet. They get scored on hits that correspond to the arrows. My daughter (just turned 13) plays this all the time at our youth center. Her party this year was a movie night - mixed - with popcorn, Snacks and lots of supervision. Went over well. Last year was a glamour party and we did it in the evening... manicure, facial and updo for hair and glam makeup - goodie bags included all their products plus some "snack food". Girls loved it. Good luck and have fun!!

Yes, I'm a BB fan (and the Amazing Race, Hell's Kitchen, etc). Got to love the fact that everyone is keeping Chilltown till the end. What are they thinking? Or is it good strategy? I like to think the two girls will make it to the end but the boys are good at playing them against each other.

Hey guys, it sound fantastic. I was banded on the 31st - just squeezed into the ABC. Being new I have a question - sounds whiney but how do you make crushed medication go down smooth and not taste terrible? I'm still in the fluid stage and taking my meds is making me sick! I'm really looking forward to the next stage. :0) Thanks for the info!

Way to go Mandi! Congrats on your loss. You're an inspiration!! I'm sore and just managing to get back on my feet after the surgery. I'm glad I read here that weight loss during the next few weeks isn't the objective since I'm stuck at 19lbs lost - but that was mostly on pre-op diet. Hope everyone had a great long weekend. Chat soon. Roxanne

Christmas is my fav time of year. The house is decorated to the max - inside and out and I just love making snow families with my kids. We start making Christmas gifts after Halloween and have lots of fun baking cookies for cookie tins in November to give to co-workers and teachers who are too busy (or not bakers) to enjoy the holiday cheer. Food will definitely be a challenge this year with Thanksgiving at the in-laws, Halloween, and then all the Christmas festivities but I think with support we can all have a great holiday and have some fun being thin. I was just banded on 31 Aug so spirits are high but I'm sure as I've experienced before the head will get into games with me and I'll lose some of the current enthusiasm. :0) My goal is to lose 25 lbs by Christmas - realistic?? I hope. Good luck all and have a great week.

Hi Everyone, Just got banded on 31st Aug. I was so excited. Pre-op diet was difficult for me since I have co-workers who eat donuts and sweets on a regular basis. Surgery went well and I'm healing - very sore but still excited. I'm hoping to keep the momentum going by regularly posting and reading msgs. I've lost a few and have many more to go. Here's to gone for good and feeling great!!

Thanks Kim, surgery is 31 August @ TLBC Toronto. Pre-op diet is in the beginning stages but my family are great. This is just another challenge. Have a great week and I know one slip isn't going to hurt your goals. I was on the pre-op diet in July for 8 days before my surgery was post poned - lost 7 lbs and started to add more food when surgery was postponed to end of Aug. Even with the added food I maintained that loss. You will do great - just wrap your head around that it was just a small slip. Talk to you all soon.

Good afternoon, I have a goal for this month and it seems like the same as Kim's - to stay on the pre-op diet. Being banded 31 Aug. I too have used this website to gain valuable information. I'm hoping my "willpower" will remain strong so I lose weight and be healthier. Baby steps to reach goal!

CONGRATS on your success! You're an inspiration to us all.

Hi gang, I've tried this diet several times and it does work for awhile but like all plans it gets old fast. But it does give you a kick start. Good luck! I'm still waiting for approval for my surgery. Cross your fingers it soon.

Hi everyone. I'm waiting for a confirmation on my surgery date - tentatively scheduled for 3 Aug 06. I had the opportunity to attend a support group meeting before my initial consult with the surgeon as well as a fairly lengthy wait (maybe on purpose?) in the surgeon's waiting room. So I was able to ask lots of questions before seeing my surgeon. I have done lots of research and have watched many friends on this journey but I'm still anxious and nervous. I really enjoy this website and I'll visit again soon. Roxy
