    Disappointed

Hi ladies, I am also 2 months post op and exactly the same. I have my third fill next week and I am really embarassed to go to the apoointment as I am exactly the same weight as 6 weeks ago.
  2. Hi Hopeful. I see that you posted this a few months ago. I just want to see how you are going now, as I am in the same scenario. I have 7.5cc in a 10ml band and feel no restriction. I can eat whatever I want and more than I would like. Did you get another fill? Did you get to the green zone?

    weight loss furstrations

I am so glad you posted this. I was banded on June 11th and lost weight in the first 2 weeks post op and nothing since. It is pretty depressing. I have had 2 fills. I have a 10cc band with 7.5cc in it. I still don't feel any restriction when eating. I am actually starting to get worried that something is wrong with it. Has any one else had this much fill and not felt restriction? I am exercising (however I have aways exercised anyway). I have started to count calories today until my next appointment, because I want to lose at least some weight until then. Would love any feedback if anyone else is in the same boat.

Banded on the 11th of June

Well, I turned 33 on the 10th and had my band done on the 11th. Thought my birthday would be pretty depressing given that I only had liquids. But was too excited about op. My last memory when drifting off into anesthesia was of my anesthetist telling me in his very camp voice. "You are gonna be a hot mamma by Christmas". Gee, that sounds good. I am now 4 days post op. Starting to feel human. The liquid diet isn't worrying me too much. Made a Thai Pumpkin Soup today which is to dye for. Half a cup was all I could manage but it was so yum, I was more than satisfied. I also went for a 5km walk today (slowly). Needed to get moving as I was going batty. Am going back to work tomorrow. Just for a half day to start. I am in an office and I actually think it will be more relaxing and less strenuous there than at home with 3 very active kids. I am surprised I have already lost 6kg. I am 4 days in and 2 people have already commented that I am looking slimmer. Can't wait to be a hot mamma by Christmas.

2 weeks post surgery in sydney...

Rivven, I am also in Sydney banded on 11th June. You are doing amazingly well to lose 13 kg so far. I am down 7kg but have not lost any weight on my mushy stage. I think I need tips from you. I am getting my first fill today, so I hope that will help. I think I must have been eating too many calories on the mushy stage. It is incredibly frustrating. I think I actually put on half a kilo. I am trying not to let it get me down and wait till after the fill. It sounds like you may have a similar amount of weight to lose that I do. I also have around 25kg to lose to get to my goal. Good luck and hope all goes well with you.

    Anyone else..

I am in my third week and I found that I lost heaps in pre-op and 1 week post op and have now not moved for 10 days. I think that your body needs to even out for the big loss at the start and then hopefully it will trickle off at a more stable pace.
  8. I was banded on the same day as you. I have been walking up until a few days ago. But I went back to the gym on Monday and I started out on eliptical and bike (they are pretty gentle). On Tuesday I tried treadmill with walking 2 minutes/running 2 minutes for 20 minutes. (Running pretty slow). I was fine. The only thing that hurt were my legs because I had not exercised to that extent for about a month.
  9. I was operated on the Thursday and back to work Tuesday. As I have a toddler (2, as well as a 5 & 7 year old), I figured I would get more rest in my office job and be less likely to lift toddler. I was fine at work, but tired at night. I will tell you that I have had a sore back the last week. I tried to lift my 2 year old as little as possible, but could not avoid it (eg-in/out bed/car, nappy changes, etc). I think because I have tried not to use my tummy muscles that I have strained my back.

    Just Banded June 11

I was banded yesterday. Just home from hospital today. There was a little pain post op but nowhere near what I expected. My surgeon told me that when he went in, he found a Hiatus Hernia which he fixed up for me. Am on clear fluids til Monday, then straw diet for 2 weeks, the mushy for 2 weeks. So far so good. Scheduled for a fill in 4 weeks.

I can't quit figure out where the port is. Is it near the top middle cut or down lower and to the left???

i got my lapband done 3 days ago

I was banded 7 days ago on 10th June by Dr Brendan Ryan. I was going to take 2 weeks off work, but on the day I got back from hospital they were desperate and asked me to come back early. I went back to work after 4 days (office job). First day was stiff and tired. But now it is day 7 and I feel back to normal. Just a little bit of local soreness around the wounds. I seriously think that it is because I was walking around heaps and moving that all my gas is gone and so is the shoulder pain and uncomfortable sleep anymore. Maybe if you are at home, go for a couple of slow walks around the block a couple of times a day and get rid of the gas. I was told that the worst thing you can do for the gas is lay down and be immobile as it takes heaps longer to disappear. I also had a Hiatus Hernia that was fixed when they were in there (apparantly 1 in 4 people do). Do you know what they actually do to fix it? I have no idea. On another note....I TOO AM SO SICK OF liquid food. Arghhh. Soup and shakes. Can not stand them any more. Anyone got any ideas of something a bit more creative with flavour?
  13. Hi Amy, Can I ask you to be my mentor as well. As you are a year ahead, it would be great to have someone to ask questions to. We are the same age (give or take a few months). My recovery is the same as your. I am on day 4 and am now feeling more or less back to normal. I do have an initial question. Everybody talks about the sweet spot with the fills. How do you know that you have reached this point. Also, how do you know if you have filled too much. I am having my first fill in 3 weeks. Fiona

Banded on the 11th of June

  15. Hi Patsy. I was banded 4 days ago and am happy to answer any questions. I am going pretty good so far. I am in Australia - 33 years old with 3 kids. I am in surprisingly little pain. In fact I have decided to go back to work earlier than planned (tomorrow). Ticker: Copy the ticker BB Code and paste into your profile signature (in the big white box at top, not the internet adress boxes underneath)
  16. I would wear a mini skirt with knee length legging/tights underneath. Still show off the nice pins, but no saggy bits on display. As Trinny & Susannah say "In your 30's nobody wants to see your knees. The top and bottom just look like they are talking to each other"

    Protein Supplement Suggestions

OK - I have a hot tip. I have a mini bullet blender, but any blender will do. I find even the nastiest shakes taste good if I put them in the blender with about 4 ice cubes and the water. It makes it really cold and bubbly and tastes heaps better. With vanilla shakes, adding a couple of drops of vanilla essense for extra flavour also helps.
  18. Is it just me - But I feel fine post surgery. They kept asking me in hospital to rate it from 1 to 10. I always said 4. I asked what 10 was. If 10 was childbirth, then this post op period would be a 1 or 2. Seriously, not badly in pain. Slightly uncomfortable only. Unfortunately I have not been able to avoid lifting my 2 year old occassionally. He is 15kg (30 pound. I am trying to lift from my arms/legs (not my abs). I really hope I have not done any harm, but I have a life that needs to be lived.
  19. I am 3 days post op and am finding it really hard not lifting as I have a 2 year old. When can I lift again? Also, I really want to start exercising. Is walking for half hour OK? How long before I can do more intense exercise?
  20. You look great. I was banded 2 days ago (Sydney). I am a BMI of 33 (down from 35). I read your posts and it struck a cord. I have always loved running (even when I was 95kg) and my goal is to eventually run 5km every day (can only do walk/run at the moment due to weight). This will hopefully help me get the weight off and keep it off.

    33 hoping to be banded

I too am a 33 year old (married 3 kids). My bmi was 35.0, so I just crept in to be eligible for banding. I was banded 3 days ago and am really happy with my decision. I am actually quite active, but have always had a problem with eating too much (not bad foods - my biggest weakness is carbs). My sister is 5 years older than me and was banded 2 years ago. She had similar stats to me. She has been an inspiration as she looks fantastic now and is nearly at goal. She says it is still hard work, but there is no way she could have achieved the results she did without the band. I am looking forward to shrinking over the coming year.
  22. I was really disappointed because I came out of surgery weighing 2kg more than when I went in, but now I am on day three and have lost 5kg (11 pounds). I think a lot of it is shock to the system because we are only only thin fluids. From what I understand, this will slow down to about 2kg (4 pounds) per month once I am on a proper diet again.

    Just Banded June 11

A Technical question: How do I add one of those tickers to my sign off. I can't figure it out.
  24. I have just booked in for the 11th of June. Am starting Optifast tomorrow. I am also in Sydney. Keep in touch and let me know how you go. I put my Optifast in the blender with 3-4 ince cubes. It comes out more like a thickshake and the coldness makes it not so gross. I too thank Mr Rudd for a contribution to my lap band. Thankyou Mr Rudd.
  25. I am being banded on 11th of June. I have only told my husnad so far. I need to get some time off work and am not sure what to tell them. My boss sits next to me and there are only about 12 other people in my office who are all really gossipy. I have not worked there long and will feel weird if they know the truth. Should I just say I am getting suregery and leave it at that? They will all pester me about it. Anyone got any suggestions or experiences.
