Be very leery of anyone charging that small of amount! It would terrify me, what corners must he be cutting?!? Also just so you are aware, the $8750 is only for July, after that his prices are $9500. Still an extremely good deal for the surgeon you get and all that is included! Best of luck!

I learned the best trick to remove the adhesive! I was in so much pain from being allergic to the adhesive and just could not get it off, Renee told me to go to a pharmacy and get adhesive remover, but they had none! I asked the pharmacist what he would recommend and he said olive oil first (which I had tried) then he asked if I had heard of "goo be gone". It is organic and so long as you keep it out of the wounds should be fine. I got it and did not have to scrub or anything just lightly wipe over the adhesive 2-3 times and it was gone! I felt so much better when it was off! BTW...I still have tape on 2 sites, I figure it will fall off when ready and is not bugging me. (Its the white tape that hurts me) I took the drain cover off at about 8 days and it is doing great as is the other site on my left that came off!

Thinking of using Dr. Aceves in Mexico
Eyfura replied to shanda7182's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is perfectly normal to worry before! I can't tell you how many anxiety attacks I had before I left...and I had less then 2 weeks from when I scheduled my surgery. I worried what would happen to my family, that I did not want to die, blah blah blah....honestly I finally had to just say "you will be fine" everytime I started to worry during the day. At night...well that was much easier lol, for that time before I left I took tylenol pm everynight! I never laid in bed worrying. But don't worry, once I got down there I knew I was worrying for nothing, it is wonderful! BTW...my family brought up almost every point that yours did, just as adamitly too. I finally said "I am done, leave off or don't call me 'til I come home!". It was the last I heard any bad comments because each one knew I was serious. :001_tongue: -
I am pretty sure that changed in June. Now you need a passport or a passport card. Before June 1st you did not.
-
There are a few places that will do same day passports if you are leaving within 10 days, I know there is one in Seattle, WA. you can look and see if there is another by you.

Hey Kristopia, I know it is not the location, but I wanted to let you know that for the month of July Dr. Aceves is running a special and it is $8750 instead of $9500. This is only for July, but hey if you have the money now, why wait? I am one of Dr. Aceves past patients also, and soon my sister will be, I think he is the best, but I know alot of people say that about their surgeon. Best of luck with whomever you choose! I am sure you will do great! Your story rings true to so many on here, take care!

Thanks hun, I would appreciate it!

I only got one...oh well, was there anything important in it? Things I HAVE to know? ***Pre-op I got one, but it was just things to sign I thought...I will go look for it, but lol I may have left it. I guess I may have gotten it and trashed it, but I read all through it and did not see anything other then papers to sign and the one document that had already been e-mailed to me.

Just looked into that folder, and nothing, just my blood tests, surgery report and ekg results. I totally feel left out! ...
-
Hmm...I did not get any paperwork sent home with me...the only things I got were my x-rays and surgery report. What other paperwork did you guys get?
-
I don't remember anything about that either...I just went back and read some of the paperwork and could not find it. It probably has something to do with training yourself to recognize when to stop eating. I can't fathom being able to drink that much right now though! I am just starting to have less pain when drinking and can only drink like maybe 1 oz every 45 min....maybe. :-)

My story is pretty simple. About 6 years ago I found myself stepping on the scale and weighing 297lbs. I was horrified! Until I married I had never gone over 140lbs, but I had 3 little boys back to back and was on bedrest with each one. I got used to being lazy and obviously gained ALOT of weight. Anyways, I decided I was going to lose some weight before I hit 300lbs, if I could not then I would get gastric bypass, but I did not want to do this yet. I cut back on portions and got more active, after 3 years I had lost about 90lbs. Cut to present day 3 years and another child later (this time a little girl) and I am still right around 210lb. Knowing that I have stayed this way for 3years and can't seem to move past it I have finally decided to have WLS. At first I thought my only options were the band or GB, then I found this site! (well the old one) I read about the sleeve and people's experiences with it and got interested. I researched for a while before I started posting and asking questions, but in the long run I decided the sleeve was a perfect fit for me. I am now scheduled to have mine June 10th and I am really excited! I really want to thank each and everyone who answered questions and gave me advice. Those who helped steer me into the right direction, and everyone else who just posted their experience for me to follow! I will keep you all updated!

Thinking of using Dr. Aceves in Mexico
Eyfura replied to shanda7182's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know, I love Dr. Aceves and his staff! It really is not like going to Mexico, don't let that scare you! You drive up to the border, drive through and you are in Mexicali, the hospital is 3 minutes away! Don't let the fear of being in Mexico keep you away! I have only been home almost a week and I can honestly say that I would never go anywhere else or let my family go anywhere else! Best of luck! -
So guess what guys....my sister just set a date for surgery with Dr. Aceves in July!!!! I am so excited for her! (Hopefully she won't mind me posting this) It looks like I will be going back down there with her also, so I will get to visit everyone at the hospital again!

80 lbs already lost and still losing
Eyfura replied to KathyG's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats on your weight loss! When did you have your surgery? -
I still have yet to have any issues...I think it is because I am not taking in enough fluids to effect me. I have barely gotten 20oz a day in, but so far today I have managed to get 17oz, so it looks like things are looking up! I may get 30-40oz in today! The only thing I am not looking forward to are the BM's everyone talks about!

Hey Hun, When I talked to Renee about taking meds she told me that I could break them into small pieces and not have to crush it, she said just make them really small! Take care! I'll be calling soon! Oh...and if you need it I have Dr. Campos number.
-
Hey Debbie, Sorry I just got your message on my site. I am doing okay, I am still in quite a bit of pain, but everyone says most people are not at this stage. I walk alot and do fine with that except for getting worn out faster then normal. My big problem still is that I can't really take anything in. I can sip about every 10min one little sip of propel, and that just started today, it took most of the day to finish one bottle of it! LOL I can have popcycles and am living on them pretty much. Broth is a bit better then propel, but still I cramp alot when trying to get it down. I think my tummy needs a few more days to recover and then hopefully it will be fine! Other then that I loved the hospital and staff! Dr. Aceves and Dr. Campos were wonderful and really seem to care. Everything was very nice. Talk to you soon! Good luck with the surgery!!!!

I have no idea, I have heard that for most people it is easy. I still can't drink really anything, my tummy cramps right up. I am pretty much living on popcycles right now, I have one every few hours. It is the only thing my tummy wont cramp on, but it is starting to worry me a bit. This is day 5 and I would think by now I could handle other things. I am gonna wait another day and see if it improves and then call Renee again if it has not. I loved that picture, even though we were all pretty drugged up in it! All the girls agreed I could put it up, we thought it was fun, it was great having them there. As for pain progress, the only place I still hurt is where the bag was, none of the other incisions hurt at all. However where the bag was is still pretty painful, but hey its only been 5 days and I am a wimp! I am staying with my mom right now so she can deal with the kids while I rest, so that helps! I have great family support! Update you all soon!

It is great to know you are doing better! I have been thinking of you, make sure to keep me up to date!

I actually am still on pain meds...I have a very low pain tolerance! I can't wait to get home and get some good pain meds! I left the hospital this morning, everyone was wonderful to me. Ruthi and VegasAngel were doing so awesome, I could not believe it! They rolled Ruthi into her room and not 5 minutes later she was walking into Vegas room where we were talking! I am still in alot of pain and can berely tolerate a few sips of Soup, everyone including Renee assure me this is normal for about 1/2 of the people and give me another day or two until I feel much better so cross your fingers for me! I just got to the airport where my flight was suppose to leave at 5 pm...I sooo was not going for that with how I am feeling so my sister and I both just got upgraded to first class on a flight 4 hours earlier! (I think my sister is kinda glad I am still hurting because of the upgrade lol) Susan, Ruthi and I took this picture last night, we called ourselves the sleeve girls to everyone. Thanks for all the good wishes! I am thinking of you Susan and Ruthi!!!

So I had the yummy one..it was not nearly as bad as I had been led to believe, but it was far from good!!! All was good with the test though! I saw Vegas angel before her surgery, but missed Ruthi. V.Angel is in recovery right now and doing well! They took my patch out so all is good except the cramping that I get when ever I try to drink anything. They tell me it is from the gas and should stop soon, I really hope so! I walk alot and do the breathing thing, but it does not seem to improve. I think my body is mad at me right now...lol. Anyways, talk to you all soon! Oh btw...for anyone considering, I have NEVER been treated better at a hospital or been to one more clean, every one here is sooooo wonderful! Lucy and Sergio are there for me when ever I need them and Dr. Aceves comes around 3 times a day to tease me, aside from being sore (duh) this has been a wonderful experience, if you need to do it!

No not the "yummy one" the blue one. Vegas...I will be looking for you and Ruthi...send me a text w/your room number!
