Jenai it is a small world indeed. Have fun. How did you learn about the seminar? The topics all sound very interesting.

Good Morning Team! I haven't posted in a few days. I am surprised at how much I miss coming on and keeping up with everyone. I returned to work a week earlier in order to get my classroom organized. I usually spend a full 9 to 10 hours at work each day. If I want to remain successful on this journey, I must make time to connect with you all a few times a week. Deb. I'm glad you are doing well. You are such a trooper. I will be praying for your overall good health. Have fun this weekend. Jenai. Congratulations on your noticeable weight loss. I know that makes you feel good that someone else can see your results. I received another 1cc to give me a total of 5.5ccs. I have a little restriction. I've been so busy at work I have skipped breakfast and lunch. Wasn't drinking much Water either. I began to retain water. Panic set in when the scale started moving up rapidly. I'm finally losing again. Planning my meals should be a priority. Most of my dinners this week have been take out. I hope I continue to lose with this fill. It should be easier now that I am busy again. Willowcat have you gone back to work yet?

Thanks for everyone for responding.

OMG Willowcat! Nearly 50 miles in one week! You ROCK!
-
Week 1 21 miles logged. 39 miles to go.

I got my miles in Willowcat. Thanks again for encouraging me to get it done. The workshop was pretty interesting. It was all about making the most of small groups. Can't wait to put some of the ideas into practice.

Jenai I received pictures from my doctor. I was amazed. I had a hernia and the pictures showed that too. My doctor puts me on 3 days of liquids and 3 days of soft foods after a fill. It has been hard for me to stick with that. Hopefully I will have better luck with this fill. I'm glad the weather is back to normal for you all. It must be nice to live in area with temps like that mid summer. Have a great workout!

Jenai I also have a 10 cc Lapband. I've had 3 fills for a total of 4.5ccs. I do not have any restriction. My next appointment is Tuesday 8/11/09. I hope this fill helps me feel satisfied with just a few bites. I started off being satisfied with a few bites for a month after surgery. My surgeon had given me 2 ccs during the procedure. The restriction wore off and I have not had it since. It will be easier once I return to work. I was grazing a bit and eating the wrong foods. Once I return to work, my Breakfast will be a Protein shake and Soup for lunch. Willowcat thanks for posting that quote. I just got in from a workshop and thought I would skip my workout today. Thanks to you I am going to put my miles in today.

Welcome to the challenge Smile. We will not let you down. You have done well with your weight loss. Congratulations! I am hoping to see the scale go down in the next few weeks after returning to work. I have been grazing somewhat. I can't wait to see a 20 pound loss. You have already motivated me to try and reach that goal. The goal of the challenge is to get in the habit of exercising. We set our personal goals so that we have something to reach for. Just keep moving. We are in this together.

was your tummy swollen afterwards?

Lilpeach I am so sorry to know you went through that. You do not need to apologize for sharing your journey. You could possibly help someone else identify a problem in the future. I pray that you are on the road to recovery and that being banded will now be a positive tool in your life. -
Welcome to the challenge Elleaitch. All of the methods you listed applies. Kudos to your 15 year old for keeping you motivated.

I felt trapped into sharing my WLS. I had the surgery 2 weeks before school was out. The nurses in my surgeons office had the surgery and they conducted the seminar. Each one said they had surgery on Friday and went back to work on Monday. Well I took the bait thinking I would ony miss two days from work. My surgery was performed on a Thursday. I ended up missing the last week of school because my body was too weak to return to work. I went in on the last day to tell my students goodbye. I was then asked by several people about my surgery. I felt obligated to tell them. I went to my school yesterday to meet with our new administration team. One girl that I told about the WLS walked up to me in front of a group of people and said, "Wow, Dee you look good. How much weight have you lost?" I have not lost much weight at all in my opinion. I brushed her off my saying, I've been working out and toning up. She got the message that I was not going to discuss my weight in that setting.

Welcome to our challenge Snereb27. You are off to a really good start logging 12 miles in one day. WOW!

Hi Jenai. I have been curious about your new shoes. How do you get them back so fast? Are there shoes in stock that match your measurements or do they custom make the shoes? I think that was a wonderful reward. Willowcat and I both decided on pedicures as a reward. I'm not sure what our other members did to reward themselves. I can't wait to reward myself with a pair of skinny jeans. I hope they are not out of style by the time I lose enough weight. HMMMMM! I think I will set a mini goal to fit into a size 12 jeans by October. That will be my reward at the end of September. I'm in a tight 14 now. I have 2 months. Did any of you tell your co workers about your WLS? I told only 3 people at work. I do not want everyone always asking how much weight have I lost or commenting about my weight in general. What are your thoughts on this subject?

Hello. I would like to start exercising and my preferred method would be walking. I have a treadmill that currently is not being used. I would like to change that and the only way I can get motivated, is to have a partner or two or three..... I would like to start a 50 Mile Challenge from July 1st to August 1st. If you are interested let me know. We will start Wednesday, July 1st and end Saturday, August 1st then maybe start over again. We can have weekly check in every Wednesday to log our miles walked and, or exercised. I know there are many of you that can easily walk 50 miles or more. I am not one of them yet. Hopefully I will be soon.

Thank you Willowcat. I was a little disappointed because the scale did not move, but the loss of inches lets me know I'm doing something right.

Hi Sparkles. Sorry to hear about your band slippage. I don't know if you are experiencing pain or any other complications, but I truly hope you are ok. Welcome to our challenge. We are all hear to motivate and encourage each other. We had a great July and we are so excited about our next month's journey. Initially it started as a 50 mile challenge, but I did not want to exclude anyone who had other goals in mind. That was the best thing for this challenge. It helped many of us push past our set goals when we saw other members working hard everyday and meeting higher goals. Set your goal for whatever exercise you are comfortable doing and just log your miles every Saturday. There may be times when you feel like giving up, but come back to this thread and you WILL be encouraged to keep moving. In 30 days I have lost several inches around my thighs. I did not measure before the challenge started, but I am wearing a pair of shorts that were literally cutting off my circulation and today, the shorts are so loose around my thighs. I am on cloud nine.

Thanks Blaze21!

Hi Willowcat. Lets do a Saturday check in for this challenge. I agree that we should log our miles weekly. That is what kept me accountable too.
-
Welcome to our little group Deb. Your journey is very inspiring. Thanks for sharing it. What grade do you teach?
-
Jenai thats great. Thank you for doing that for us. I am not computer saavy at all. I logged my miles by using my stationary bike. It is getting easier for me to use it daily. I need to reset my goal from 50 to at least 60 miles. I initially thought I would use my treadmill for the challenge, but I got a better workout on the bike. I have an ellipitical machine too, but I can not go more that 1 minute on it and it only tracks steps not miles. Does anyone know if you can convert steps into miles?
-
Welcome to the challenge Last. Most of us were not really active before the challenge. We either had equipment at home or memberships that we we not fully using. Now most of us hate it when we miss a day of exercising. It is not a competitive challenge where we are trying to out do one another. We just encourage each other to keep going and not give up. Thats why it was better that we set our own goals. It really worked.
-
Jenai that is a great idea. How do you want to format it?
-
July 2009 total miles logged 55 miles. Exceeded the goal by 5 miles.
-
Willowcat I agree. I will start a new thread for August. CONGRATULATIONS everyone!
