    September 2009 Mile Challenge

Isn't that a good feeling? Congratulations on finishing your 1st Mile Challenge. I hope you join us next month.
  2. Hi. I am so curious. I know everyone is different, but I would like to know how long after surgery did it take to get to your sweet spot. I am 4 months post op with 6.3ccs in a 10cc LAP-BAND®®. I am not there yet. BTW, I've lost a total of 9lbs and lots of inches. I haven't measured, but my inch loss is noticeable. I exercise and watch what I eat. The weight is not coming off as fast as I would like.

Months to get to sweet spot??????

I wasn't on a weight loss plan. I decided to take measures into my own hands when I began to gain weight. I tried every diet and supplement made. The lapband was my last resort. I went to a seminar on a Saturday and scheduled my surgery for the next Thursday. I could not risk the scale going up any more than it had.

Months to get to sweet spot??????

ahb08 thanks for the enlightenment. I ony need to lose 40lbs which could be the reason my weight is not falling off. I have always been a slow eater which probably helps out since I haven't had any stuck food. I have not experienced the morning tightness that I read about either. Before I see most of my family for the holidays, I am hoping for at least another 10 pounds of weight loss. That's not too much to ask. Congratulations on your weight loss. Keep in touch. Let me know how things are going.

Months to get to sweet spot??????

Crzytchr thanks for clarifying. That is what I am hoping for. To eat what I want, but not as much. That has helped me understand restriction. I am eating less than I did before the band, but could still eat a little more than 1/2 cup of food. Nothing sticks right now. Some people can't eat bread, chicken or shrimp. I can eat all of those foods without any problems. I go back for my 7th fill in 2 weeks. I'm keeping my fingers cross that this will be the last fill needed for a while.

Months to get to sweet spot??????

Crzytchr will you clarify your comment, "...but could usually eat most of the foods I want." Could you eat most anything, but not as much because of restriction? You have lost a lot of weight. Congratulations!

    Less restriction AFTER first fill???

Hi Kiz. How many months after surgery did it take before you got to your sweet spot?

    September 2009 Mile Challenge

I think I finally have some restriction. My first stuck episode happened this week. I take 2 pea size Vitamin caplets every morning. Tuesday morning I took them as usual but felt the golf ball in my chest. I was getting ready for work and could only stand and pray that the odd pain would go away. I ended up sliming. Luckily the Vitamins passed through after 8-10 minutes. It felt like forever. It has been tough getting my miles in lately. I find myself exhausted after getting home from work. I must make myself leave by 5:00 if I plan to get my miles in. Monday I signed in at 6:50a.m. I signed out at 6:22p.m. I spent nearly 12 hours at work. I am down to the last week and I will get ALL of my miles in for the month. This thread is the only reason I haven't given up. I've said it before and I will say it many more times, Thanks eveyone who signed on to this challenge with me. I could not do this without all of you.

    September 2009 Mile Challenge

Jury Duty nearly drove me insane. I did not get as many miles in last week, but will put it in high gear this week to make up the lost miles. I went in for my 5th fill this morning. I now have 6.3ccs in my 10cc Lapband. I'm anxious to get to my sweet spot. Deb you are a wonderful storyteller. I enjoyed reading about your furry walking companion. Welcome Brandy!

Has anyone been taken off of HBP meds since losing weight with the band?

    September 2009 Mile Challenge

Olivia you have the right attitude. 3.5 miles is a good start. We have not completed a full week yet. Any amount is better than none. The goal is to get moving and you have already made the leap. Hope you feel better soon.

    High Blood Pressure

Thanks for responding everyone. Great news Sue! NCLisa I am a teacher. With that comes stress. I hope with more weight loss I can be taken off of the meds and that stress levels will not be a factor. Restless will you keep me posted? Good luck!
  16. Ivy, I'm glad you are doing well. The gas pain will lessen after a full week or so. I stuck to the liquid phase for 2 weeks. I had chicken broth, protein shots and jello. I stayed in bed most days of week one. I wasn't hungry, but did not want to be tempted so I stayed away form the kitchen. My family was great the first week. They ate out so as not to add to the temptation to want what they were having. It was not a bad time, especially when the scale was showing weight loss.

What are you having on the liquid phase and how long do you remain on that stage?

    August 2009 Mile Challenge

Deb thats wonderful to hear that your blood pressure has dropped so much. Are you on medication? If you are, did your doctor talk to you about taking la lower dosage or none at all? I have been on HBP meds for nearly 2 years. I would love to lose enough weight so that I no longer rely on the meds to control my BP. I hope all goes well with the healing of your foot.

    September 2009 Mile Challenge

Hi Willowcat. I love to listen to a song by, Third Day. It is called Born Again. Feels like I'm born again. Feels like I'm living...for the very first time...for the very first time. Feels like I'm breathing...feels like I'm moving...for the very first time in my life. I can go for miles and miles when I listen to that song. Thanks for sharing. I wondered if anyone else listened to music when exercising. Without music it seems to take forever to meet my daily goal.

    September 2009 Mile Challenge

Rayne, you are off to a great start!
  23. Kevin welcome to the challenge. We are glad to have our first male member. You should fit right in with us. We only discuss how we are doing with the challenge. We truly encourage one another. I could not do this on my own. I know that the other members are faithfully logging those miles and that helps me get my miles done. It's been 2 months since I started the challenge. I do not like to miss a workout. If I do, the miles are made up over the course of the week. This is coming from someone who never liked to exercise. Most of the members feel the same. We do not like missing our workouts.

Just post any questions or check in and read the post if you ever need the boost to get you up and working out.

    September 2009 Mile Challenge

Hi Rayne. We log our miles as a new post. Here is an example of how it looks. Week 1 20 miles bike 40 miles to go At the end of the month Jenai puts all of the results in a spreadsheet to determine our total miles as a whole. She then post it on the thread so we can Celebrate and congratulate each other for a job well done. Go to the July 2009 Mile Challenge or the August 2009 Mile Challenge and read up on what we've done. I promise, you will be inspired.

    September 2009 Mile Challenge

Welcome all newcomers. We are glad you have joined the challenge. This is how it all works: We set a goal for the month and we update the miles weekly to stay motivated. We get the miles in using treadmills, bikes, ellipticals or taking nature walks. Set any goal you choose and just work toward that goal. The members of this thread continue to exceed goals. We are not competing against one another. We are here to motivate and encourage each other to the finish line. We check in every Saturday to log miles for the week and miles to go. Good luck everyone!
