Thanks Willow. It hasn't been easy getting my miles in since I went back to work. Not only do I teach, but I have a tutoring business after school. Most days I am done by 6:00. That is why I lower my goal. I applaud you for keeping your miles the same. I am looking forward to our Winter Break. I forgot about that when I set my goal at 40. I know I will get more miles in for December. Now if only I can get to restriction, I will be the happiest person on the planet.

We are getting closer to the Holidays and I do not want to gain weight during this time. I have finally started to lose weight. I am not at restriction yet so I need the exercise. I will continue to get my miles in using the stationary bike.
-
Hi Kevin. Glad you are part of the challenge. Setting your goal is up to you. It depends on how you get your miles in. I get mine in on a stationary bike. I get more miles in using the bike as opposed to the treadmill. We only count miles exercised. Get them in any way that you can.

Total for the month 40.50 miles .50 over goal... I did very well on Thanksgiving. I did not go for seconds and I only had one piece of pie. Last year I would have had seconds and tried every dessert available.

Week 1 8.25 miles 31.75 miles to go Willowcat thanks for helping with the ticker. I still can not update the weight loss ticker. Does anyone know of a different ticker site I can use other than Tickerfactory.com?

We are starting our 4th month of the 2009 Mile Challenge. Come and join us!

Glad to have everybody on board! Welcome Sue and Bill. I lowered my miles to 40 this month because I am incorporating Wii Active into my routine. I came up short last month because I tried to do both. Sue we track any day that we exercise. Willowcat, I need your help. I made a ticker for my weight loss, but I can not access it. I click on the exercise ticker and it takes me to the site to update it, but when I click on the weight loss ticker it does nothing. Any suggestions? I've made several and have had the same problem.

Way To Go Willowcat! I am so happy that you are celebrating total miles biked. What an incredible outlook. Once again you keep me going. This is the first month that I did not reach my goal. I felt really depressed about that. You have put things into a proper perspective. Thanks for continuing this journey with me. How amazing it would be to compare notes next July. I'm in if you're in.

addelapp I tried these tonight and they were delicious! My 14 year old who hates veggies loved them. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

I love anything sweet and was still eating too much of the sweet foods. My weight loss was slow. I found a way to satisfy my sweet tooth and get my Protein in at the same time. I take 1/2 cup of Greek Yogurt and add a 1/2 of a baby spoon of flavored extract with one pack of splenda. I mix in walnuts and enjoy my meal. I do not worry about getting dessert after I have that for a meal. I've tried banana, coconut and lemon extracts so far. All were very good.

Week 2 18.75 miles Total 31 miles 29 miles to go We have had record temperatures this week. Temps went as high as 92 degrees. I woke this morning to temps of 56 degrees. What a wonderful difference. The drop in temps have me so energized. I might get my miles outside this weekend. Another awesome week everyone! WooHoo!

Hi Willowcat. I'm sorry to hear that you've been sick. Once the kids get sick its only a matter of time before the teacher is sick. We are battling swine flu here. So far, I have been very fortunate not to get it. I do not even have the sniffles. Last week 7 out of 21 of my students were out sick. Not all of them had swine flu. Most just had the regular flu. I know exactly what you mean about missing it when you can't exercise. I feel so bad when I can't get my workout in. Congratulations on the weight loss! I'm really happy for you. Hope you feel better soon.

Great first week everyone! Keep it up. Remember every step counts. I've had slow starts before, but I've always reached my goal. I will see you all at the finish line.

Welcome to the challenge addelapp! We do not have a weekly spreadsheet. We just log our miles once a week. Example: Week 1: 20 miles down 40 to goal We log the miles every Wednesday. Hope this helps.

It's good to have you on board Heartfire. It sounds like you live in a beautiful place. I would love to get my miles in by walking outside. I live in SE Texas. It is hot and humid most of the year. I maybe able to get outside by late November.
-
Hello Heartfire. We log actual exercise.

Hello. I'm am so happy to have quite a few newcomers join us on our challenge. It is so easy. No preparation at all. Most of us use treadmills, stationary bikes, ellipticals or nature walks to get our miles in. Set a goal and start exercising. We will log our miles once a week. Since October starts on Thursday, we will log our miles walked for the week on Wednesdays. If you need encouragement check out our July and August 2009 Mile threads. I am losing so many inches just from riding my bike. I started with a 50 mile goal and went up to 71 miles in August. I went back to work, but still managed to get in 60.5 miles for September. We can do it. Take it one day at a time.

Hi Willowcat. I know it has been a hard month. Going back to work is draining. I almost gave up too, but then I realized I would be back where I started. In the 3 months that I started this challenge, I've gained a renewed sense of pride in myself. It feels good to exercise. My family is proud of me too. My co-workers are beginning to notice that I'm slimming down. I owe that to exercising. Let's just take it one day at a time. Thanks for being a big part of this challenge. We are celebrating the 120 miles you rode, rather than focusing on the 6-12 you could not get in. You have encouraged me more than you know. I hope you feel better soon.
