Hi Shelley,
I am reaching out to say hello. How are you? I hope all is well.

Ladies, I too had trouble with my eating. I had only lost 20lbs since surgery and I gained 8lbs back. Being a cash patient, I was so discouraged with the band. I remember that the band is a tool and would not do all of the work for me. I realized I had to do my part. My weakness is sweets. From cakes, ice cream and all sorts of candy, I did not turn any of it away. I was recently diagnosed as prediabetic. I knew I needed to make a change. I met with a nutritionist and she recommended the site Calorieking.com. I joined on 7/10/11/. It was eye opening to know just how many calories I was eating on a daily basis. I log my meals and exercise and the weight is coming off. My first week I lost 3.8lbs. I am very conscience now of what I eat. Hope this helps!

It is so good to come back to the forum. I did not realize how much I needed the support. My weight began to creep back on slowly over the course of the year. I am focused again and ready to start the journey over.

I am returning as well. The support is so important. You can not be on this journey alone. -
I am in Texas too! I purchased the Zumba Wii game last week. I worked out for the first time yesterday and was so into the work out. I am excited about using it again.

I am experiencing the same. My fill was Wednesday at 4:00pm. I can't keep liquids down. I am waiting a few days before I ask for an unfill. I hope it is due to swelling. I hope you feel better soon.
-
I am experiencing chills too. I can't keep liquids down either. My fill was on Wednesday afternoon. I have been spitting up most of the liquids. I can't sleep because I wake up because I have to spit up. How long after a fill are you able to eat soft foods? I am on my second day after. I want to give it time before I call my docotr, but I do not want to wait too long.

I had a fill on Wednesday afternoon and can only take small sips of liquid. In between sips I spit up. I wake in during the night and have to spit up. I am most comfortable when I am sitting. I am uncomfortable when lying down. I am so tired because I can't sleep. Is this normal? Is it due to swelling? How long should I wait before I seek medical attention? I do not want to get dehydrated. I have never had a good fill so I am unsure what is normal and what is not with the band.

I am leaving for vacation in 3 weeks. I've done well over the last few months, but can do better. Now that I have the summer off I can increase the amount of exercise I get. My goal for the month is 60 miles.
-
Welcome to the challenge ididit35! Good luck on reaching your goal.

I need your advice please. I have plateaued after losing 11 pounds. I have been at the same weight for over a month now. I have really good restriction so I do not need a fill. How can I get the weight loss started again?
-
Wow Msmelc! Congratulations on your 113lb weight loss. That's incredible. Thank you for the advice. I have less than 3 weeks to lose at lease 5 more pounds before I leave for vacation. I'm going low carb and will increase my exercise. Wish me luck!

I am ready for summer. Every year I am miserable when I go on vacation with my family. Cute summer clothes did not fit and all I wanted to do was stay in the condo. Talking about spoiling the fun for everyone. My husband and daughters enjoyed so many actvities without me. This year will be different. Losing weight has lifted my self esteem. I am ready to enjoy all that life has to offer. I am challenging myself to lose 10 more pounds before the end of June. I slacked on my exercise and still managed to lose 18 pounds in 2 months. Now I am highly motivated and will not use the excuse of being too tired to skip my workouts. Come join me. My goal is 40 miles for May.

I would like to know how many of you are trying to get to a goal size as opposed to a goal weight? Weighing in everday has become an obsession for me. I find myself on the scale up to 4 times a day. I have finally come to the conclusion that I need to be more concerned about the size of my clothes than the number on the scale. I was excited when I tried on a pair of pants that I bought 2 years ago that did not fit. The price tag was still on them. On a whim I tried them on and they fit perfectly.

Hi Jazma. The challenge is about getting the miles in. We use a variety of methods. I use the stationary bike and treadmill. Others have used the elliptical and nature walks. I also use the Leslie Sansone Walk at Home DVD. Set your goal and log the miles once a week. Good luck and thanks for taking the challenge.

Goal Size vs Goal Weight
2911plans replied to 2911plans's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am almost 300lbs and it is a bit frustrating when I read about someone doing a procedure as drastic as this when they were in 16's to begin with, or barely weigh 200lbs. JB, congratulations your band date and welcome to the forum. I do have one question for you. Why are you frustrated that someone would have this procedure when they were in a size 16 or barely 200lbs? I would like to explain why I decided to have the procedure. There is a history of obesity related diseases that run rapidly in my family. I have watched my grandmother and mother suffer from these diseases along with my younger siblings. I happened to be the "smallest" in my family. I am smaller, but still unhealthy. A size 16 on my 5'4" frame made me look huge. I took a drastic step to have surgery so that I can become healthy. I was gaining and gaining. I did not want to wait until I was morbidly obese before I did something about it. I am feeling better about myself each day. My HBP is getting lower and I pray that soon I will not have to rely on meds to keep it controlled. My doctor suggested that I lose 50lbs. A 50lbs loss for anyone is a big weight loss success. The band is helping me get there. Good luck to you. I wish you well. -
How much Protein should I eat each day in order to speed up my weight loss? I have read that most people are getting between 60-80 grams a day. What is a typical day's menu? I have tried to get enough protein in my diet, but it has been hard. *****Note****** whey protein gives me gas. So does greek yogurt.

I had a fill on Friday 3/19/10. I am pretty tight right now. I can only keep liquids down. Sometimes if I drink Water too fast it will come back up. As tight as I am right now, I know I will be on liquids for a while. I am curious. If you were ever too tight, how long did you stay on liquids before the band loosened or you went in for a slight unfill? It has taken 10 months to get to restriction and I do not want to lose it. If I can endure for a fews day, then it will be worth it to see the weight come off. Thanks for your responses in advance.

WOW Shirley, a pound a day! That's great. What do you eat for each meal?
-
I have a sweet tooth but it has not stopped me from losing weight. Today my husband and I went out to lunch to Celebrate our 22nd Anniversary. Toward the end of the meal he asked if I would like dessert. I answered, "NO", which surprised me. I never turn down dessert, but my band was in control. I honestly did not want dessert. I was satisfied eating only 1/3 of my meal with no dessert. You can do it!

IMHO 15 pounds lost in a month and a half is great weight loss.

Does anyone else watch Ruby on the Style Network? I love her. For those of you who are not familiar with the show, here is the background. The show follows Ruby Gettinger. She was once 716lbs and is now 318lbs. She is losing weight with diet and exercise. What an inspiration! I am cheering for her all the way to her weight loss goal.

Happy Spring everyone! My goal is 30 miles for the month.
-
I have Spring Fever! The weather is nicer. I finally have restriction 9 months after surgery and I am ready to put my exercise into turbo mode. I have several motivations to lose right now. I joined a Biggest Loser pot at work which ends on 4/30/10 and my family and I are going on a cruise this summer. I want to look and feel good on vacation this year. I needed a change of pace with my exercises. I purchased the Leslie Sansone Walk at Home 5 Mile Fat Burning Walk dvd. I will alternate between that and my stationary bike this month. My goal is 40 miles. Good luck to all who join this challenge!

how long on liquids after the first fill?
2911plans replied to harliquinn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My surgeon requires 3 days liquid and 3 days soft foods after a fill.
