Did anyone lose weight with the 1st fill?
2911plans replied to 2911plans's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OK Sugga. I might be a little slow here. Did you lose 18-21 pounds since 6/9/09? -

Hi Sugga. You've only had 2 fills so far? When was the second fill? When were you banded? Your weight loss is impressive. -
You look years younger! I can't wait until I lose enough weight to see a noticeable difference.

Thanks Reneek. I just needed to hear from someone who has gone through the process to encourage me. I am feeling much better today. 6lbs lost in 8 days is a great loss. That is awesome and the fact that you are eating what you want makes this journey easier. Have you had any PB, stuck food or sliming incidents? -

Thanks for the advice. We are doing a lot of walking while on vacation. When I return home next week I will fire up the treadmill and the Wii Fit. I will also make sure I eat according to my doctor's plan. I hope to lose with the 1st fill. I will be on Clear liquids for 3 days and then soft foods for 3 days before going back to normal foods. I told several people at work that I had the surgery. I'm afraid that when I return and I haven't lost I will be thought of as a failure and a fool. I am a self pay and my co workers know that as well. So many people tried to convince me that the surgery was not a good idea. I have until mid August before I go back to work and hopefully prove them wrong. I just want a noticeable amount to be lost. I am not going for model thin. -

Hi China. Why did you wait 5 months before getting a 2nd fill? Were you losing weight? I do not have my first fill yet. Does the doctor determine how much to fill the band by some formula? -
Thanks Sarah. I'm glad you are doing fine. Sharing your experience will hopefully make it easier for me.
-
WOW!!! Shark congratulations on your weight loss. That is an impressive amount in less than a year! :blushing:
-
Hi Sarah. How are you feeling? I will get my first fill on 6/30/09. Do you feel any tightening around your stomach? Do you have any discomfort? How was the overall fill? I'm scared of needles.:blushing:

Jenn, I bet that Chocolate Truffle might be my fav. It has been mentioned a few times on this thread by other posters. -
Does Anyone Use Bariatric Advantage Products?
2911plans replied to happylappy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I purchased 2 bottles of the multi vitamins in mixed berry and calcium in cinnamon and chocolate. I do not like either. They have this fizzing like sensation going on and they taste very chalky. UGH!!! I'm stuck with them. I ordered online from Bariatric Advantage. They will not take opened bottles back and if you have unopened items, there is a 15% restocking fee. That with the cost of return shipping was not worth sending it back. It's great that some doctors offer samples. My doctor sells the products, but I didn't think to ask for samples. -
Nectar Protein..has anyone tried it?

Thanks everyone. I ordered a sampler of 11 different flavors for $9.99. I will try all of them and come back and post my opinion of the flavors. I was told by the sales rep to mix with water. I was wondering if it could be mixed with milk in order to make it thicker? I would also like to add frozen fruit if that does not make the taste overbearing. -
OMG!!! You are so right. That is pure torture. I thought my plan was strict. It's a walk in the park compared to that.

My doctor's requirements are: 3 days following a fill,Clear Liquids only, days 4-6 soft foods, day 7 normal foods. How does JayTee's story measure up to that? I am curious. My first fill is on 6/30/09.

What is painful? Getting fills or going back to liquids for a few days?

Thank you. The casserole sounds good. I have tried the Unjury protein and I do not like it at all. Do you mix your protein with milk or water and do you put fruit in it? I'm looking for something that I can stick with. -

Hi Diva. What is in your seafood casserole and what brand of protein mix do you use? Thanks! -
Anyone else out there OK with losing slowly with an unfilled or small filled band?
2911plans replied to coloradobanding's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I completely agree with you. I am 18 days post op and have lost nearly 12 pounds. I could not do that before, no matter what diet I was on. I too will be happy with 1 or 2 fills. I did not get the band to become model thin. I got the band so that I could control my weight, get off of the HBP meds and decrease my chances of diabetes. I am geneticlly predisposed for those diseases. I took a proactive stance against my ever increasing weight. Someone in an earlier post stated how some banders vomit, pb and slime their way through the weight loss. That is not how I want to spend my journey. I am able to stop eating when my body tells me and I am making healthier choices. I'm cooking all of my meals instead of eating out 5 days a week. I am rediscovering the taste of foods that are not fried and am enjoying my meals. I eat slower and savour eat bite all the while, I am losing weight. Thanks for this thread. -
I start solids in 3 days. I am beginning to get hunger pains. I do not get my first fill until 6/30/09. I'm afraid to gain back what I lost. Does anyone measure your food in order to stay on track or do you just eat until you think you are full?
-
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I will measure so that I will not stretch my pouch. I almost ordered a $40.00 plate that was sectioned into proper portions when I realized those portions are not for the banded people. Beautiful my soft foods consist of fish, fish and more fish. I have it for dinner every night. I love it. I've also had refried Beans and cheddar, applesauce, yogurt and s/f Jello. I am not really into mashed potatoes or eggs for that matter, but those foods are all on the list my doctor gave me. Good luck and thanks for the advice.

Processed cheese is like velveeta and cheez whiz. Non processed cheese is hard cheese whether its still in blocks or sliced. Hope this helps.

lap band pain after surgery
2911plans replied to andy343858's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 16 days post op and I am still pretty sore to the touch around the port area. I am a tummy sleeper, but have been sleeping on my back since the surgery. I think it's ok to report how you really are feeling because I think it helps others in the future. I do not think its whinning if you are hurting. We have undergone a traumatic experience and I think we try to diminish that to appease those around us. I let my family and friends know that I am still in some discomfort. They have all been very understanding. Your body will heal. I am gaining my strength as the days go by. I still have some gas pains although not as bad. -
Mayo Banditos / Friday Weigh In !!!!
2911plans replied to Scorpioqt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi..I'm down 1.4 pounds...I am happy with that. The scale is going in the right direction. Slow and steady is what I want. -
I am really missing veggies. I am in the soft food phase and have eaten refried beans and cheddar for lunch and baked fish for dinner. This is only my 2nd day in this phase. I am trying not to eat more than 3 ozs at each meal. How in the world am I suppose to get me veggies in? I am afraid to overeat. My surgeon's advice is to eat protein first and then move on to the sides. I am not hungry for the sides. HELP..any advice is welcome.
