I guess I was blessed. I went in for a fill on 6/30/09 and the NP could not fill me. She said my port had flipped on its side. Since I was already numb, she pressed on the area until the port was right side up again. Thank God. I am a self pay and could not afford to undergo revision surgery. I felt a slight tugging and pulling when I would try to sleep on my side. I wonder if that is when it happened. I noticed since my NP put the port back in place, I can sleep on my side and tummy again without any pulling or tugging sensation. Has anyone paid out of pocket for a port revision? How much did it cost?

First Fill Today - Questions
2911plans replied to ronniekroll's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got my first fill on 6/30/09. I am really afraid of needles. My NP was very good. She gave me a numbing shot first. That was a little stick with a little stinging. When she gave me the shot for the actual fill, I did not know she had stuck me. It was not bad at all. Lauren I hope I have the same experience you had. I do not feel any restriction with a 3cc fill. I hope it kicks in soon. -
Hi Poppet. Welcome to the challenge. Just do what you can. Any exercise is better than none at all. Glad to have you. Set a reasonable goal for yourself.

I am looking for a decent tasting protein. I ordered Unjury and do not like it. Now I am stuck with 2 canisters that will not be used. It cost an arm and a leg to ship back so I will keep it. Any suggestions?

Nectar Protein..has anyone tried it?
2911plans replied to 2911plans's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I tried 2 flavors of the nectar Protein. Today I had strawberry/kiwi mixed with Raspberry Lemonade Crystal Light it was very good. Yesterday, I had the flavor Crystal Sky. I forgot to mix it with Crystal Light and mixed it with plain Water. It was not bad, but I would not try that flavor again. I will update after I try other flavors. -
Please explain, why can I barely eat anything for bfast and lunch?
2911plans replied to cookiebaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor advised me to have only liquids for breakfast, because the band tightens during the night. It loosens up during the day. So far I do not have any restriction so I have not had that happen to me yet. -
Two fills and absolutely NO restriction :-(
2911plans replied to birdbrainzz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I too feel the same way. I just received my first fill on 6/30/09. I have a total of 3ccs in my band and feel no restriction. I can eat anything. I have made every effort not to fall back into my bad habits and eat all day. I am really trying to follow the eating plan. No breads, no Pasta. I stock up on sugar free Jello pudding so that I will not be tempted to become a sugar addict again. I have even started exercising. I will not be so dependent on the band for my weight loss. When I get the fill that gets me to the sweet spot I will have a lot of good habits in place. Take it one day at a time. Set mini goals and make every effort to reach them. Hope this helps. -
Hi Willowcat. Do you know how many tickers we are allowed in our signature line? I currently have two tracking my weight loss, but I do not know if we can add another. I like both tickers and do not want to choose between the two. I would like to add a third ticker to track my miles.

why am I gaining weight?
2911plans replied to vikki1012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You also may have some of the remaining fluids from your IV in your body. What I've learned is, the weight loss is not automatic with the band. You will see a drop in weight, but it will come over time. I was on liquids for 2 weeks after my surgery. It was only the third week after that I was able to eat pudding, pureed foods and such. -
Hi. I have a 10cc band and will get my first fill on 6/30/09. Who lost weight with the first fill and how much did you lose before needing a 2nd fill? I lost 11 pounds the first 3 weeks post op. I was scheduled for a fill on 6/16/09, but had to reschedule because I was flying out on my vacation. I am now on vacation and can eat anything. I am not over doing it, but I no longer get full after a few bites. Last night I was able to eat most of my hamburger. Nothing is getting stuck at this point. I do not have a scale available, but I think I am gaining weight. I just hope that I can lose more after I get my first fill. Please tell me I can. I really need to be encouraged right now. I pray that this will be the last vacation where I am FAT. I look like I am 7 months pregnant.:blushing:

I just came back from getting my first fill after surgery. The NP gave me 1cc. I was told the surgeon had given me 2 ccs during surgery. We will see how it goes this next 4 weeks. I do not feel any restriction at all. Hopefully it will kick in later today. I'm on liquids for the next 3 days. This will give me a chance to try the Nectar protein samples. -
Hi Jennifer. Welcome to the challenge. I am so thrilled that we have enough people on board to motivate each other.
-
Hi Amy. Thanks for accepting the challenge. We are just beginning our journey. I wish you well. Do what you can and try not to hold yourself to making the goal right away. You may not feel like exercising the first few days after surgery. We can brainstorm our next challenge for August. Let's try and mix it up so we do not get bored.

Glad you are in WonderWoman. Congratulations on your banding. Let me know if you have any questions before or after your surgery.
-
Thanks for joining us Gabi! I too needed something to motivate me. I almost talked myself out of starting the challenge. I was thinking no one would join. I can't believe I am getting excited about exercising. WoHoo!

I am tracking actual exercise.
-
Welcome aboard Willowcat. Glad to have you join the group. I also have a bike. I will possibly alternate between the two so that I won't get bored.
-
My "mentor" who works in my doctor's office is 3 years post op and she plays softball. She has not told me of any injuries.
-
JuJuVee, thanks for accepting the challenge. I am so glad you are on board. I need someone to hold me accountable and found this to be the surefire way to reach my goal.
-
ALuv82 thanks for accepting the challenge. I am looking forward to this next phase of my journey. I havn't exercised faithfully in years. This is the next step of a healthy lifestyle. Hopefully I will be able to start a 50 Mile Jog Challenge.
