    Last appt. before surgery!!

Thanks Deedee, I totally forgot about vitamins! I am also deficient in vitamn D, so I have been taking that along with a multi-vitamin. How long did you have to take all this? I'm terrible with pills!! Do you mind if I ask what is the prevacid for? I'm assuming heartburn, and if so is there something I might be able to buy over the counter if need be?
  2. Wow, so we're going in the same day! Are you excited/scared? Do you have everything ready? Are they making you lose any weight pre-op? I have my last appt. with the doc tomorrow, and hopefully I have lost enough. They want me to lose 15-20 pounds pre-op. I am at 13 but still haven't begun my liquid diet (that begins on the 22nd). So I would like to know a little more about ya, like where your from, or where your getting your surgery, how much are you wanting to lose?

    Flabby

So I am pre-op, and will be having my surgery on 1/5/10. I was curious as to if I keep a steady workout throughout my weight loss journey will I have a chance at less flab? My thighs have always been huge so I am really worried, and I'm not sure I can afford any plastic surgery, but if I could what would be a round about amount for a tummy tuck, breast lift, or thigh lift? Any advice on avoiding extra flab would be greatly appreciated!!

    January 5th here I come!

Netherfield, Wow, you are doing great! Just to think that a year from now I could be 100 pounds lighter is so exciting! I can't wait to be where you are now. There are so many things that I can't wait to do (go to a a water park, run/crawl around with my daughter, go hiking, go to the lake, wear shorts, etc.) I hope I have a great success story to tell others soon to inspire them like you have me...thank you!
  5. I am new here but would like to get to know all of you and your stories! My surgery date is scheduled for January 5th! I am so excited! If anyone has some feedback of things I should be aware of, or things I need to prepare for, or maybe things I should stock up on...I would love to hear it! I can use all the help and support I can get!! Thank you, and hope to hear from you soon!

    Healing!

I am a little concerned about the healing process! I have a 1 yr old daughter and am a little nervous about how long it will be before I can pick up my baby girl again! How much help should I recruit for when I get home, and for how long will I need help?

    Relationships???

I have been in a wonderful relationship for the last 4 years. My weight doesn't bother him at all, I am the one with the problem! We are both a little concerned with how my attitude might change, or if the transition from bigger to smaller might damage our relationship. Has anyone experienced any problems? Maybe positive or negative changes?

    Fat free vs. fat????

I have been told to be on an absolutely no fat diet before my surgery to shrink my liver, but I was wondering if after my surgery I will be able to have a little. The reason I am asking is because I usually drink EAS protein shakes, they are cheap, easy to find and I enjoy them but they have 3 grams of fat so I am not allowed to have any on my pre-surgical diet. I definately want to find something that I can tolerate and afford before the time comes. Please help!!

    Fat free vs. fat????

That is so true Carolyn. I didn't think of it that way, but they should know what they are doing regardless, oh well maybe it is just an easier way for them. They did give me a very short limited list of foods that are ok to eat before surgery: -fat free cottage cheese -any fresh vegetables -fat free yogurt -fat free milk -sugar free jello or pudding -fat free protein drinks ...and ummmm that's about it! Mmmmmm.......lol!
  11. So I need to know about how much work to take off? I only work part time right now, and the work I do isn't too rough so I was hoping I wouldn't need to take that much time off of work.

To work or not to work?

Thanks everyone! I have decided to take two weeks off, 1 week for the actual procedure and hospital stay and the 2nd week for healing. Then we'll just go from there. I think it is great that with this procedure you don't need months off of work, and it doesn't seem to take that long to start feeling back to normal!

    Relationships???

Sounds great! Those are many of the things I am looking forward to! I used to be very athletic and I love the outdoors. I haven't been as social as I feel I can be, my weight holds me back alot and I am hoping for the confidence to overcome all of my fears and be the person that I have always hidden behind closed doors! And knowone can go wrong with a better sex life...Yaaaaa, I can't wait!!!

    Fat free vs. fat????

Wow, this just seems to bring more questions. Why would all of our dr.'s give such different meal plans and exceptions for the exact same surgery? They said the no fat diet is only pre-op to shrink my liver, I am not sure if this diet will continue after surgery or if they ease up a little. I hope so because 2 weeks pre-op, and 6 weeks post-op of this diet will be rough...but nothing I can't handle!!
  15. I workout as much as I can with my 1 yr old attached to my hip...lol! I also have another visit with my dr. on the 17th, the only pain for me is that I will be getting the surgery done 5 hours away! What kind of protein drinks did you choose? I stocked up on Fusion, but I am hoping to be able to have more of a variety after the surgery, but for now they want me on 0 fat drinks. How much weight are you hoping to lose? I want to lose 150 pounds, but will be happy anywhere I end up...hopefully! Do you have any worries or concerns for the future? Talk to you soon!

    Just curious!!

Great info! I already started my list of questions for the dr.! I have one more visit with the nurse on the 17th so I'm hoping to get most of the answers then!
  17. It might be a stupid question, but I'm not sure what it is so I'm not sure if it is or not...I been hearing alot about a drain??? Know one has mentioned this to me, and I'm not really sure what it is? Also, I am driving 5 hours for my surgery and was wondering how long I would be in the hospital and how long the actual surgery takes?
  18. It would be great to keep in touch throughout our journey. Are you all prepared? I'm still trying to make all the arrangements, and lose 10 more pounds (per my dr), starting to workout more, and eat healthy. Sooooo excited though!

    January 5th here I come!

I appreciate all the feedback, and am already making a to-do list...lol! I have been browsing through this site, but still trying to figure it all out and make friends. It feels so good to speak to people that are going through or have been through the same thing!
  20. Hi, it seems like you are the go-to girl on this site...lol! Seems like you have a lot of great advice and have been through alot! You look great, and are an inspiration to us all! 21. Just wanted to say hi and good luck! I noticed that we have the same surgery date and thought that it might be nice to keep in touch about what we are going through! I am a little nervous about the pre-op weight loss as well, but I am hopeful! I am new at this site so I would like to keep in touch and figure all this out together...
