  1. I love seeing that I'm not alone. I did have diarrhea for the first couple of weeks after surgery, now my problem is the opposite. I also have nausea after I eat ANYTHING. And THAT is getting old, fast. ha ha ha I have nausea pills which I was told to take every day... and I am. But as soon as I eat...nausea. Another thing that I'm finding quite bothersome is gas. UGH! Does anyone know if we can take, like, Gas-X or anything like that. I mean, it's not so bad when I'm home and can get some relief... but when I'm at work.... well, that's another story. ha ha
  2. Hi! I'm in the same boat... I lost 40 lbs almost instantly... now I'm stuck. I talked with my doctor, he said that the initial weight is Water weight, believe it or not, and that, if I don't exercise, I can expect to NOT lose weight. I honestly can't believe that, since i'm hardly eating ANYTHING! It's so frustrating.... But, at least I see that I'm not alone!

    reflux - fill removal

WOW... for a minute there I thought that I wrote that post! ha ha Same story.... same time frame, too. The only difference is that my "reflux" turned out to be a bit more serious.... I had my gallbladder removed yesterday. So now I don't know WHAT comes next. No idea when I can get a fill again. I'm guessing I have to give this time to heal.... I will see my doctor again after the holidays. I'm just afraid to gain weight.... AND I had hopped to have a bit more off by Christmas..... Oh well....

    Long Island

Count me in as another Lawngilander....ha ha I was banded on May 4th by Dr. Ahmad. Today I go in for my second fill. I've lost 30 lbs so far but have been sorta "stuck" losing and gaining the same pound for almost two weeks now! ARGH!! I'll talk to "the girls" in the office - they're always so nice and so helpful.... maybe they'll have some ideas. But, hey... if any of YOU have some ideas or advice... I'll take it! I'm curious to know how many of you all go to support groups. They always seem to fall on days that I can't go, so I haven't been since about two weeks after my surgery. Just curious. ~Chris
  7. Add me to the list of people who simply can't tolerate bread. I'm ok with crackers, haven't tried toast yet.... but bread of any kind just doesn't go down. I'm only banded about 5 weeks now and could care less if I nevr eat another slice of bread! ha ha I don't crave it and I don't miss it - and I live in New York, the bagel capital of the world! ha ha I went from eating a bagel for Breakfast EVERY SINGLE DAY before surgery to now no bread of any kind and don't miss it at all. I'm down 25 lbs and just had my first fill about a week ago. So, we'll see how things go now. Good luck to EVERYONE as they continue on their journey!

    Fast food

Yes, I LOVE that we have a resident poopologist! ha ha I, too, have the same problem if I eat food that is too high in fat or too greasy..... It's definitely a HUGE learning experience as you get back out into the "real world" of eating.... I'm learning all the time...... I keep track of new things that I introduce into my "post-op" diet - and then see how my body reacts.... Hang in there!

    Please help!!!!!!

I would drink.... I know that they say not to, but anytime I have an issue like that, I find if I drink it helps soften the food and helps it to pass. I wouldn't recommend it all the time.... but in the beginning when I was still learning how to eat properly, I would occasionally have the same problem. I was always told that my eyes were bigger than my stomach. Now my eyes are TEN times bigger than my stomach! ha ha Good luck!
  10. I've only told my family and a few close friends. I've decided NOT to tell my colleagues at work..... I just feel that it's a personal decision and not really a "water cooler" topic - if you know what I mean. Let them all notice in a few months that I'm losing weight and wonder..... ha ha

    May 1st banding

I was banded on the 4th and lost 22 lbs!! So I'm right there with you! I was thinking the same thing as you... I lost 20 lbs so quickly, but now I'm sorta stuck here..... I get my first fill in two weeks, too.... so we'll see how it goes after that! Here's to us!!!
  12. I had the same thing and when I mentioned it to my doctor he said it was because of the hernia repair and will subside in a few days. Well, it took closer to the 10 days - but it did eventually go away. At times that pain was worse than the surgery pain! I used a heating pad and also heard from others that laying as flat as you can will cause the excess gas to disburse throughout your body helping to relieve the pain in your shoulder. Hope this helps! :wink2:

  14. Can I ask you all...... has anyone suffered from constant gas after surgery? I had my surgery about a month ago and it seems that ANYTHING that I eat gives me gas. I eat slowly, chew well and feel pretty darn good otherwise.... Is there something that I'm doing wrong or is this normal? Thanks for any and ALL help that you can provide! ~Chris :wink2:
