I would just like to say that I LOVE MY doctor's office on the whole. From Dr. T, to Phyllis to Yvette, she is Dr. T's Admin.......and she is WONDERFUL......there has been no waiting, always call backs. appt scheduled and so easy to talk to. I've never waited longer than 10 minutes for my appts nor have I waited more than an hour for a call back. Simply Fabulous..........

Protein, Protein, Protein...
Bostonlady replied to Cherishthepast's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
try the liquid protein shots -
Also I found out that the protein shots you need to take half at a time, since you can only absorb between 23 - 25 grams of protein at one time, I've also read that to mix it with water and some crystal light for easy sailing. Everyone is raving about the orange sunshine, so I'll see. Also, the nectar line, they offer all 11 samples for $4.99 with $5.00 for shipping, you call the number and they send it immediately, they told me within 3 days, this is a nice cheap way to try before you buy and invest. I've also found a protein bullet on www.bodybuilding.com with 45 grams of protein, 6 shots for 12.99 with great reviews. To get the Syntrax nectar deal: Call 866-333-7403 and speak with customer service. I've started a box of stuff I will need or think I will need so I don't need anything......so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know.....this is my list so far: Bed Buddy -heated in the micro pad with beads fantastic liquid ibuprofen recliner with massage and heat 5 different proteins (eat smart strawberry cheesecake, dorian yates for women protein, beneprotein, banana soy protein) protein pudding Liquid vitamins and liquid calcium Liquid Acidopholus Vitaband vitamins gas x gel tabs Liquid Neem (good for digestive help and inner swelling) Liquid Lydia Pinkham Anythoughts? Sorry for so many questions, I just like being prepared and would like to take care in advance as much of the anticipated discomfort as possible. I'm on disablity, so I'll be out for 3 weeks, which works out great.

Hi Everyone, I have a few questions, does anyone have Phyllis's email address I need to ask her a question and I have a question or two that I hope someone can answer: During the 2 weeks protein shakes etc, has anyone tried the protein shots? they are 2 oz and pack anywhere from 26 to 42 grams of protein, and I've been seeing horror stories of losing hair, is this true even if you get in the protein and the vitamins? I would like to say on top of this and if anyone knows how to prevent this please let me know. Thanks

Approved Today 8/5/09!!!!
Bostonlady replied to horizontravel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
:rolleyes:Well just a little info, I met with my surgeon for the first time on8-5-09, prior to seeing him I had my psyche done, my sleep study done all from my pcp. now all I have to do is my upper GI on the 18th of this month and my surgery date is Sept 22!! I have Harvard Pilgrim insurance and they say its pretty easy with them. Just a note to those thinking about it, after your informational session get as many tests done as possible prior to meeting your surgeon, they said that showed I was ready and the first day we met I got my date. Now for time off, I told the surgeon I had disability at work and he said he would give me 3 weeks off that was the most, so I'm psyched! I'm off till Columbus day. I also chose the realize band, mostly for the research on the port being better, if anyone has any comments about that please let me know. Also as a side note, for those going for a sleep study, if you get a study via your pcp versus the surgeon, the sleep study lap is more likely to give you a cpap machine when you have mild obstructive apnea. Be kind and explain to the sleep study doctor that your there to get a cpap for the lapband, they will work with you. I'm closterphobic, so the machine is a little hard for me, but I'm keeping my eye on the prize! -
Hello Everyone, I have my first appt with Dr. Tavakkolizadeh , I'm meeting with him and Phylis on Wednesday 8-5-09, I've had my psyche done, sleep study done, what else do I have to look forward to besides the barium swallow? I have mild sleep obstructive apnea, however the sleep doctor said significant weight loss would help in the notes, psyche approved me....any help would be appreciated, is it true they can take out most of the gas during surgery, how will I feel, with the lapband is it possible to take 4 weeks off, will the insurance accept that? my disablity doesn't cover one week off, but it will if I'm out for 4 weeks. Any help would be appreiciated. How will I feel, and how long will I feel it. I walk my dog everyday for 3 miles and have recently been going to the gym 3 times a week with zumba and yoga.

Lapband vs. Realize Band..which one?
Bostonlady replied to katinafer's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello Everyone, I'm just about finished with all my test, meet with my surgeon Aug 5th for the surgery date, I don't have a high BMI but the sleep doctor wrote up my mild apnea and I have high cholesterol, my question is, which band is best and how long will I have to be out of work? I was hoping to do a surgery on a Thursday and be back to work by Monday, is that possible? I work in an office sitting most of the day, physicially I work out 3 x a week, trying to gage the pain, discomfort etc.....any help would be appreciated, thanks so much -
this is going to be a dumb question, what is the upper GI? I will go wherever I have to to get this all done in time, thank so much for taking the time to answer my questions and making me feel at ease

one more thing I'm on meds to sleep becuase I have a seizure disorder which I dont have to take meds for, but the meds force me to sleep so I dont end up having a seizures or symptoms, so hopefully that will guard me against a sleep studdy, I do not want that LOL, thanks for reading me rant:lol:
