Thanks your words of wisdom have helped on this journey and helped to maintain my piece of mind even as I get close to the lifechange in less in two days. BTW, I got liquid of whatever I was taking as far as supplements that I took before the surgery. I find the B vitamins helpful as well as the Omega's. I totally agree with you on the cardio, I have been incorporating zumba and kickboxing the last few weeks as well as the bosu ball, that ball is amazing.......I'm kinda bummed the surgeon said no weights till 6 weeks................but you gotta do what you gotta due.........have a fabulous evening, I'm bummed the Pats blew it....

I dont know about Type A, but I just like being prepared, the coconut oil is for absorbtion of vitamins not protein. ANd yes, I have ran these things past the nutrionist as well, I would never presume knowledge on area in which I'm not well versed, I did all these thing with research and talking with my healthcare team. But thank you for caring enough to make sure. I am fully aware that my taste may change, but I also know that regardless if I like it or not, I have to get in that protein the first few weeks before solid food, I will just have to suck it up if I have to, to get where I need to be at solid foods. I have read here on the board about people losing hair, again I check with my pcp and bariatric surgeon and what I have bought as far as vitamins and/or supplements for hair loss was ok and said to help in some patients. I dont believe in just a plan A, having plan B and C ready just in case is just how I operate so I'm prepared and if I dont need it now, I can always use the stuff later and if nothing else have something to share with someone else who is starting on the life changing journey. I have a new treadmill to use before I can go back to the gym, Leslie Sansome Walk away dvd etc. For me, this band is a tool and the more ways I use it correctly and to it fullest advantage the better off it will be for me. I do realize this is my approach, and not yours and reading your posts, you'd done tremendous and I applaud you, so if anything I'm listing in your experience will harm and not help, please let me know. Thank you for taking the time to respond to this thread.

From the research I did and I did alot, but remember I'm not banded yet either LOL, I'm getting banded on Tuesday and you? GNC has this stuff with 50 grams of protein its called 50 gram slam..........I bought those with Nectar Syntrax, if call Nectar Syntrax you can get an 11 pack of assorted flavors for 4.99 plus 5.00 shipping and its high on protein, that way you can try before you invest, also the muscle milk light is WAY cheaper at walmart and I'm drinking one now and its descent plus 15grams of protein in 8.25 ounces. I also have my heating pad ready, g2 gateraide incase I can't get much water down first day or so that way you stay hydrated. And I bought a few different of the international flavors coffee creamers to mix with some of the powder incase I need to change the taste as well as sugar free torani flavored syrups........I got the bariatric advantage chewable vitamins for lapband patients and liquid b vitamins as well as lemon flavored flaxseed oil. In doing my research I found that taking coconut oil with your vitamins helps to make they absorb faster, they have recommnded that to alot of the gastric by pass patients, but I'm trying to make sure I don't go thru any losing hair phases. ALso, DOllar Tree has chewable gas tabs......count of 100 in the bottle. DOllar tree also has instant tums that you put on your tongue for indegestion. ANd I also got the Milk of Magnesia just in case, I've heard people have nede that as well. Perhaps we can be lapband buddies and help each other thru this intial phases........

4 days and counting.............6 lbs down, feeling great.....lapband country here I come........I guess the only issue I"m having is the worrying about how the gas pains will hit me, I"ve such stories about that on this site. But I 'm stock with every gas eliviator known to man lol ready in my after surgery box near my recliner when I get home. I'm also bracing myself for the port area pain, seems thats a big one here on the boards as well. But, I'm not gonna dwell I'm gonna stay positive, this journey has gone very well thusfar and I'm going to continue to believe it will continue. What a beautiful today. Have a great weekend everyone and can't wait to enter the sisterhood of the lapband.

Hi There, just a quick note, usually it takes about 6 - 8 weeks to see the surgeon for you first appt, so do as much as you can before then IE, psyche eval, sleep study.have your PCP refer you for that, now if you snore you could get a pass with Mild Sleep Apnea if your other stuff doesn't pass thru the insurance. The sooner you do a sleep study the sooner you could get a cpap machine which will guarantee it. Remember, some insurances make you wait the 6 months by going to a nutritionist. I have my surgery in 4 days and feel really good about it. IF you take care these tests ahead of time, you will only need the dye swallow and labs and your surgery, depending on the surgeon will probaby be in about 3-4 weeks, that was my case. Also, I"ve read on the boards that some of the surgeons have a long wait.....if you can pick a doctor at Faulkner, all my appts have had a minimum wait and the receptionist gave me all my appt right up to my first appt for my first fill if I get one. I have Dr. Tavokolizadeh and his receptionist Yvette, I can't say enough good things about them and their office. All appts are on a Wednesday, calls are always returned, questions are always answered. Just an FYI, if you decide to go on disability afterwards for 3 weeks they office charges $20 to fill out the paperwork. I just thought it would be easier to stay out 3 weeks and go back to work with only 1 week of the mushy stage, you know how nosey people can get and I felt it would give me enough time to adjust and deal with any issues should they come up. Good luck and be blessed.

Happy Hump Day everyone, how are you doing? K8 how are you feeling? Thanks for the great words tinywishes and Heidi.... I finally got a direct answer on the protein shots NO.......and I was also told there is a difference in the bands, the Realize band port is flatter and can clip to the muscle wall, however my surgeon still stitches it in and the Realize Band has one continuous pillow whereas the lap band has numerous ones and the lap band can be filled more and the realize band is wider and that is suppose to lead to a lesser chance of slippage. Does anyone know when the next meeting is at Faulkner? I'd like to attend a meeting or two before surgery. Thanks and have a great week!

Hi Heidi, they have some great sports bra's that have moisture wicking as well. The best by far I've found is at Macy's in Braintree. The name slips by me right now but they fit you for free, its nto cheap but just wash it nightly they last and the support is great and its comfy as well as these, take a look: Amazon.com: Moving Comfort Women's Fiona Bra: Apparel Amazon.com: Goddess Women's Sports Bra #GD5056: Apparel Also I would check Marshalls over the other stores they always seem to have the best of the big names, but its a hit and miss. Have great weekend, 25 days to surgery OH MY

Harvard Pilgrim is somthing else........I got approval letter in the mail within 24 hours......hows that for service. I'm looking forward to having the 3 weeks off after surgery to already be in the mushy stage when I return to work almost into regular foods. Does anyone here have the realize band? Thats what I"m getting and their site is really cool and free when you get their band in. I've talked to a few nutrionist and bio people and they say I shouldn't have the hair issue as long as I do the protein and I take organic coconut oil already, which helps anyone with malabsorbtion etc......so we'll see, I'll report to let you know. I have long thick hair so we'll see. Just a little sharing, you can look up the benefits of organic virgin coconut oil, its even good in coffee or tea or you can put in your shaker. You can even cook with it. Thank god its a better day in Boston today. have a great day everyone
