How to know when you have hit the GREEN ZONE?
BeachBish replied to BeachBish's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
JELLY Lady VS! Just wondering if the "NO HUNGER" thing comes with age of the band. After reading these post I wonder if I am too tight. I can't seem to eat solids with out first a little discomfort...haev to get up and walk around. Spit up a few times --- after waiting 15 minutes I can then eat. If I call the Dr's office they will say come and have some removed. I have already been through this once; once a tiny bit was removed, It was like the gates of hell opened up and I had NO restriction whats so ever!! I hate going backwards to that point. Also the scales are not moving but the inches seem to be coming off. SOOOOO CONFUSED!!!!!!! Maybe I am analyzing way too deep and need to be patient and just wait and continue on my Soups and Protein shakes, also Wendy's chili has NO problems going down. THANK YOU all for the tips !!! XOXO -

WOW! What I am gathering from this is it's "A MIND THING"! Six months in and 1 # a week down...my Dr. is happy with my loss but I seem not to be quiet as happy. THANK You each for you replies and tips... I will start to listen to my body and try the 1 cup of food... Maybe I am to occupied with what's on my plate and try to finish it all regardless of how long it takes or how many bites its takes. aka-Mindless eating!!?!?!? YIKES! A new year and a new attempt to get a real handle on this! ****************************************************************************************** Does your band seem different on diffefrent days? Somedays when the weather is rainy my band seems tighter??? IS this all in my head also? -
I'm sorry and totally agree with the disheartening of OUR New site. Complied with Gastric Sleeve patients. Hummmm~~~~ Not sure of the reson behind this one!?!? It's kinda like shopping for a new car... I KNOW what I want so that's why I visit a FORD dealership or Chevy - whatever, and not all the OTHER ones combined. I dont understand WHY they were combined to begin with!?!?!? Yes, weight loss is the ultimate goal- however I tend to get aggravated when I read and read and then see -OHHH - She had GBP...or he had.... Sure miss the old site, friends, post, and boards!

250 - INSANE! (My doctor recommends 100 per day which is tough) Must be ALL he eats! Sounds like he needs more of a balanced diet!?!!?!? I also had some sort of FUNK - where every four to 6 weeks I would get sick be in the bed, throwing up and unable to cope for 24-36 hours...aftre about a year it disappeared. This was all prior to Lap-Band! THE ONLY thing I changed was 1,000 Vitamin D a day - treating my bronchitus - seems I treated this FUNK as well. Good Luck - I am sure he is MISERABLE!

Items recommended for home after surgery???
BeachBish replied to reed3580's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You tube it. There is some GREAT videos of products that you will need as far as foods. LIQUIDS, jellos, puddings, protien drinks, (Pure Protien-premade - Sams Club), broth, gummy Vitamins, gummy Fiber chews. My number one item was this little pillow...and I still sleep with it to this day. Belk's...Sobakawa Cloud Pillow. http://www.belk.com/AST/Main/Belk_Primary/PRD~9200567HBMRT/Sobakawa+Cloud+Pillow.jsp?off=48&rCode=0400608593636&ZZ%3C%3EcS=79%2B78%2B110%2B111%2B159%2B158%2B34%2B191%2B157%2B156%2B155%2B154%2B152%2B150%2B151%2B80%2B81%2B86%2B84%2B85%2B127%2B128%2B25%2B166%2B165%2B168%2B28%2B167%2B161%2B3%2B2%2B1%2B163%2B164%2B160%2B72%2B74%2B179%2B109%2B175%2B108%2B107%2B106%2B103%2B99%2B102%2B101%2B100%2B144%2B95%2B147%2B94%2B148%2B93%2B92%2B149%2B90%2B4294967294%2B88%2B100&ZZ%3C%3EtP=4294923540&ZZ_PO=40&ZZ_ST=pillows&fO=AND%28Category_Path%2CNOT%28P_IS_PRODUCT_SEARCHABLE%3AN%29%29&ZZ_OPT=Y&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=1408474395191292&bmUID=k8DJ9Qp Good Luck - Keep us posted! -

What not to say to somebody who is getting a band...
BeachBish replied to Terry Poperszky's topic in Rants & Raves
How's this one for a laugh...I did a facial side by side comparison. Showed it to what I thought was a very caring loving girlfriend. Her comment on the picture...THAt doesn't EVEN look like the same person does it? I just said no...but inside I was breaking down... YES.I.am.the .very.same.person.inside.! UGHHHHHHHHHHH!!! -
The ONE and only time I got stuck... At first a tad of food came back up...it was like a BAD feeling of indesgestion on my left side. I walked, I teared up, I was scared. I finally posted here to get some other advice. After about ten minutes I tried taking a tad of Water...NOPE - wasn't happening!! I then started THE SLIMMING EPISODE - of which lasted no less than 35 - 40 minutes and continous spitting up what looked like mucus. I then tried to sip water. After about 20 min into the episode I could SIP tiny and I do mean tiny sips of water. Once it started sating down, I waited another 20 minutes or so and sipped hot water....finally some relief. The warm/hot helps the band to espand so that the food particle can pass through easier. I HAVE NEVER been so scared. I had NO clue what was going on... they fail to tell you THIS happens - IF you do not chew enough before swallowing. I put myself on a liquid diet for the rest of the weekend. I was sore for the next 2 days in my upper mid section area as if I had done 2,000 sit ups. UNREAL !! The following Monday I went and got .5 removed from my band. Now the gates of the dam are OPEN and I am hungry! Ohhhh What to do what to do????
-
I seem to have ADDITIONAL spare tire since I had the band....Does anyone else have this issue?
-
NO BIG DEAL! Just dont look the first time- Doesnt hurt at all.... Fear is only the not knowing!
-
I return for a fill in a week... I don't kmow how much they really LISTEN to the patient and judge your fills accordingly?!?! I am wanting the full .5 back...as I am beginning to wonder if I didn't jump the gun and just freak out the initial time of sticking and slimming. "LESSON WELL LEARNED" !!
-
I would like to know some experiences on getting unfills vs. fill !?!?!?! I am a tad confused!?!?!? Nurse took out .5 as I seemed to tight. (4t fill) One week later and I feel NO RESTRICTION and I am hungry. How does one go from miserable to No restriction. Then when I asked for it back the way it was, she tells me to go on sugar busters for 2 weeks. Anyone had any experiences with this ??

Considering getting banded
BeachBish replied to bbyruth's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think it truly depends on the individual... Some say blueberry's, strawberry's - most breads - (That is not a bad thing) There isn't a special list persay - I think it is what you can not tolerate after the surgery. I am careful about stringy foods...BBQ -OUT! Steak...I will probably never eat again and I have a very hard time even with ground beef. For me the lap band is was noninvasive and simple recovery time and it's not liek they are slicing your guts right and left ad rearranging your stomach. So it was an easy yes for me. Go thru the evaluation if it is offered. -
You should call your Dr. and ask them to be on the safe side.
-
Hummmm....Why would you?

Considering getting banded
BeachBish replied to bbyruth's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
HI! RESEARCH!!! Talk to people that haev had it ... do your homework! I researched for over a year before I decided to get banded. Thought I knew all there was to know to find out once I got it (6.21.13) ...there's still tons to learn. * You will NOT drink 30 before or after a meal - start practiicng now... * Trail and error of finding your green zone. * You will chew your food to itty bitty shreds BEFORE you swallow. (Start practiicng now; doesn't sound hard, but trust me it is) * You will NEVER eat in a rush again... or GRAB a quick bite. * YOU will NEVER PIG out again...this is a good thing and this is why we are the way we are. * There are certain foods you may NEVER eat again. * You may have foods that get stuck and have what is called a SLIMMING EPISODE - hence the definitaion of episode. * You will be on multivitaimins and stool softners the rest of your life. * You will be on a liquid diest for 24 hours after each fill/unfill or stick. * Make sure your mind set is with the band as every and all rules apply. * It is easier to eat at night (the worst time to eat, as we haev always been taught) the band is tigher in the mornings and mid day than dinner. NOT to put you in shock...but all of the above I did not read about or find out about to the degree in which each * states. IT IS A LIFE STYLE CHANGE! Do I regret it? NO - I do not...but there are BIG adjustments to make and keep. I am still not in the green zone yet and there has been alot of T&E...to get there. Hopefully once I make it...all all settle down. I have lost 35# and determined to reach 125#. Good Luck - Keep me posted! IT IS A LIFETIME CHANGE! -
WOW! Makes much more sense to tweek it as you get closer to the green zone. !!! Ditto!!! I know all about that dam! It's almost like I don't haev a band now for soem reason.... ?!?!?!? Seems all of this is trial and error and you don't know what questions to actually ask until you get there, because you have blinders on until things unfold for us. I wonder what's next...hummmmm...LOL! Thanks for all the replies. Hope everyone has a Marvelous Monday!
