Did you follow it 100% from the very start?

What would you change about your pre or post op journey if you could?
BeachBish replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree...I think in the long run a procedure that is a little more aggressive is the key. The sad part at the seminar they tell you one thing then aftger the surgery a whole NEW can or worms are opened up. My number one complaint...the cost of adjustments! They are SO high I can not afford them!!! -
What typoe of beef Dragonfly? As in Roast beef? I find ANY beef hard except tenderloin, then I cut it in tiny pieces. Sometimes It's SO hard to eat slow when in your head you are STARVING! So now it's liquids and starting all over with fills. Keep your chin up girlfriend!

BeachBish posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Has anyone had an experience in taking Prednisone with lap band? Any precautions I should take. I am on 2nd day liquids. ATE UP by yellow flies from a beach trip last weekend...with 63 bites and counting. I really NEED the prednisone to shed the itching and blistering the bites are causing. Any help appreciated.- 2 replies

FITFILL? HAs anyone heard of this procedure? Does your Dr. use it?
BeachBish posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
After going to a center and receiving fills by a nurse for 11 months... the Dr.s office has decided to change things up a bit. Now I am required to go to the Dr and he will do the fills. Once I was in yesterday he begin to tell me he wasn't satisfied with the 47#'s I've lost so far. His objective was to place me in the GREEN ZONE immediately. He removed the saline from the band and measured it back in; calibrated it and added two additional cc's. I'm not questioning him just curious if anyone has had this procedure done before. ??? Thanks!! -
Upon attending seminar a number of times was told by DR. the cost for fills would be your co-pay. If you had insurance all you would have to pay would be the CO-PAY. Quick synopsis: Lap Band surgery 6/10/13. after surgery all fills were done by nurse at participating weight loss center operated by hospital at a cost of $150 each fill/or unfill. As of 5/1/14 they are closing that facility and now I am required to go to the Dr's office that preformed the surgery and the Dr. will do the fills at a cost of $400.00 for each fill or unfill. Yes, I have insurance but the deductable and the major medical must be meet prior to any insurance paying as it is now filled with a "SURGERY" code. I'm not sure if this is legal or ethical. Maybe I should contact the Insurance commissioner ?!?!?!?! How can they just up and decide to change mid stream??? The closest other Lap Band Dr. is 40 minutes away. Fills are $100.00. Should I go to another Dr.? Can someone be so kind to kind as to enlighten me on cost of your fills/unfills. #totallyaggravated Thanks everyone!

Can we say rip off ? Need others opinions, please
BeachBish replied to BeachBish's topic in Insurance & Financing
WOW! All of a sudden $400 seems to be on the low side. Lisa, you are right...I will investigate further. Yesterday I called Insurance Co BCBS with code; they were unable to tell me what the allowable amountwas?!? Stated the provider should tell me. Provider states they have no~clue until it is filed. ( WTH ) Anne Marie ~ I myself am beginning to wonder about the GREEN zone and when I will get there....So far either to tight or not tight enough. Kimk - I THINK that's the way my will pan out as well; however it would be nice to know up front. Catfish - $700???? Surely THAT WAS A TYPO ? Thanks for including a breakdown and copy of your billing. Actually that sounds reasonable once it is processed. HAHA Funny stuff on your "NUT" visits what is the fluoroscopy Maybe the same as saline?? Thanks everyone for your responses. Have a GREAT weekend! -
Active member of paranoia hell.......what does stuck food feel like?
BeachBish replied to prolife2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Take is VERY slow and easy. Get you a tiny condiments dish and sip on soup, or liquids. Put it down, then wait... Follow your Dr's instructions. If you are doing soup take it and throw it in blender and blend ALL the lumps out... that way is smoother. Popcycles and Jello is also a good stand by. Semi frozen Powerade - sugar free ofcourse, let it kinda melt in your mouth. Girllll get use to these liquids because they will soon become your best friend...(everytime you get a fill or unfill). If and when you get stuck you will know it. My first experience was reheating a small piece of chicken! BIG NO-NO!!! It was dried out and I swallowed to large of a piece. I would describe it as swallowing a gum ball or round piece of candy when you were a kid...only afterwards stay near the bathroom. I slimmed ...aka: YES...along with spitting up and burping a FULL RED SOLO cup full of what looked like snot in which took about an hour and a half before it finally stopped. Disgusting I know...and scary to say the least. They didn't tell me what it would be like when something stuck...so I found out the hard way and needless to say I freaked out. In this little process EVERYTHING in that region became swallon and inflammed...so guess what this ~~~ led to 3 days back on Clear Liquids. The Dr's office was closed and I didn't want to go to ER unless I had too. AFter posting here I gathered enough information to learn I was not dying. LOL! Thank goodness for this site as it is my go to!!! After a few hours of sipping something warm it finally eased up. By no means am I trying to scare you...because awarness is knowledge and the more we learn from others the better we become. NEVER eat to fast...as things will stick. Take small tiny bites!!!! Stand up ... walk around...sip something warm. Good Luck and I look forward to hearing how you get along. Welcome to your NEW lifestyle. ~ Beachy -
Uneasy tight feeling in left side of mid section today?!?!?
BeachBish posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Woke up very uncomfortable this morning. Haven't over ate (that I know of) or done anything to cause this effect. Actually was thinking about going in Monday for a fill...but NOT NOW. I have noticed more burping and gas lately. I am not in horrible pain, but enough to be VERY uncomfortable. Enough to require to sit up very straight. Enough that I am writing the forum about it and asking others if they have experienced this as well. I am able to drink with no problem and had Soup today and a light Protein bar. If one has a slipped band what are the initial signs? Any ideas and or suggestions appreciated. Thanks guys!! -
When you say pain ... what number are you describing? a 3 or 4 yes maybe..but if it's 9 or ten you need to call the Dr. this is not soemthing to play around with. I ahd 2 or 3 levels and some discomfort but never PAIN. Yours' sounds serious. ALways better to be safe than sorry. Hope you feel better soon.

O'kay! Am I the ONLY one that doesn't FEEL the FULL sesation? Has my band slipped without me knowing it? Does it expand over time??

THANK YOU each for your stories, suggestions, and sharing your battles and experiences with me. We are ALL in this together and it is SO TRUE....maybe my thoughts were the band was a MAGICAL tool that would STOP the insanity. IT doesn't - IT IS ALLLLLL MENTAL &*%*$#!! Is there a such thing as being satisfied when eating or maybe it's like soem of you say...JUST STOP and PUSH BACK! However...with THAT being said I've heard that the closer you get to green the smaller the fill. That mayeb 1.4 or even 1/2 can make a world of difference. I don't even feel restriction in the am and I think I should. This thread and site will be my first beginning of the day as to gather my witts and remind me of the logn term goal. Keep the tricks of the trade coming y'all.... have a wonderful day and push back at 1 cup of healthy foods.

What’s Wrong With My Lap Band Diet?
BeachBish replied to Helen Bauzon's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Hi! Maybe you can tell us the PERFECT days meal... I generally do a Protein shake in the am. I work so that is simple and 30 grams off the bat first thing in the morning. Protein Bar at 3ish... chicken or fish at lunch w/veggies and same at dinner. I am told to get 90 grams of protein a day ... the Water is the hardest for ME! I am loosing only 1 # a week...I've lost less than a # a week...since June. ~~~ VERY DISCOURAGED!! -
Feeling frustrated. ..
BeachBish replied to 521Diva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I clicked on your status thinking you had Lap band...as that is where I was on the site. However you had GBP...your rules maybe totally different from the lap band. Sorry if I over stepped on the rules part. I Truly wish I had had the gasric by pass as opposed to Lapband as this is NOT workign for me. -

11 days out of surgery and you are taking bites of REAL food? OH NO! That's a bad girl....LOL! Becareful you are NOT healed yet down there. You don't want food to scratch or irritate your stomach. Patience my friend, but please make sure you obey the rules and stay on liquids and soft foods. IT IS A VERY SLOW AND AGGRAVATING PROCESS!!! Glad to haev a new friend. XOXO -
Bless your heart!!! There's lots to learn about the Lap-Band...some being trial and error. Good Luck and I hope things go well for you!

Right here with ya gf!! Surgery 6/21/13...so far I am down 40#...however I am at a standstill and had to have 3cc's removed this am...now BACK on liquids AGAIN! Discouraged to say the least. The band is ONLY a tool they kept reminding me this morning. You would think for $23K you would feel some restriction with out puking every meal. Good luck!!
