  1. That's also what I was always told. Hummm...It surprises me the new information they uncover on these lap bands.
  2. After seeing my PA a lap band adjustment and deciding I didn't;t require and un-fill this appointment... he suggested that I drink about a half of cup or Water prior to eating as the pouch fills up with saliva and then creates you to slim once you start to eat. H e also jokingly said white wine works too, but you don't; want to drink white wine all day. LOL Has anyone else heard this advice? Thanks
  3. Hi gowalking, Before one eats he was says to drink a small amount of liquid to wash out any drainage or saliva that has built up and been sitting in the pouch since you last meal. I've actually been trying it and it seems to have helped me. Thank you for checking. Looks like you have done very well with you band assistance. Wish I could say the same. Dropped sixty pounds and here I am. UGH!!!
  4. How much is too much? If you guys experience an episode of BP'ing ... how long do you do liquids before going back and trying to eat? At times experienced PB'ing - thought is was more or less due to what I was eatting or not chewing it well before swallowing. I haven't been going back to liquids if I experience and eposiode - SHOULD I? I do not eat before 2 or 3 in the afternoon as only liquids will go down. Does anyone else have this schedule daily? I can PB when I drive...yep multi tasking ... going down the road - cup in hand. Loosing right at a pound a week, thought I had FINALLY found my green/sweet spot - now I am beginning to ask if I am getting tighter or just inflammed. ANY suggestions?

SO HAPPY I found this TOPIC! YES, I need that little GOOD angel on my should holding me accoutnable - her and the fat-devil on the other shoulder have a daily debate over WHAT I put in my mouth. With this being said I plan on heading to the mall at lunch and walking on my lunch hour. NO MORE SUGAR and daily walking/exercise.

PB'ing - How much is TOO MUCH? Errrrrr

XOXOXO!!! THANK YOU for the sweet responses. I feel like I just got a great big hug over the internet - saying "It's going to be ok". Truly Thank you for responding and letting me know i am not alone. I think I do need to get a tad removed...it's scary now that I've FIANLLY gotten to here - I feel like I might stop loosing if I have some removed. Maybe I will be able to make better choices. Seems with my band what I can eat one day I can't the next. One day chicken will go down if cooked moist and not dried out, the next day I can't eat it. I pretty much live on nachos- chips and dip - mexican beef/cheese dip with tostedos, Soup sweet potatoes 1 ONE chicken wing - takes me about 30 min to eat to get it to go down grits grits and shrimp - MY FACV....but i know alot of these items are not the best choices. I don't feel like I eat enough meat, but I get about 50 grams of Protein in with drinks and bars. I will sip some while eating sometimes... how do you know when NOT to drink an hour before you eat? I'm good with Protein Drinks and Protein Bars...the wafer ones are my favorite as they go down easier. I'd love to know items you eat on a daily bases. d Thanks again for the reply. PROUD of your success and weight loss!

  10. WOW! Great weightloss ~ Congrats!! Sounds like a LOT of food to me. I was told eat 1/2 c at each meal and have "3" small meals a day. I don't normally eat before 2 pm everyday as I am too tight. Protein drink in the am's and lunch is around 2 which is generally soup or chicken salad and only a few bites then. I am only loosing a # a week...after reading your post I'm wondering if I am to tight? Hummmmmm..... ~ This Band Thing is SO complicated ~

    Gurgling noise

The other day I was holding my 4 month old grandson and my husband turned and asked ... Was that HIM or YOU?? HA! It was me... It's particulary embarrassing when you are waiting in line to get a rental car and everyone hears your stomach grawling loudly!! I think I need a quick/cute comeback when people turn and stare with a puzzled look....Any suggestions?
  12. Seems I find my self eating a 1/2 c Soup... maybe a slice of cheese... a Protein drink... Vegys are tough to get down unless it's green Beans and meats are few and far between. Also, what I can eat one day I might have an issue with the next day. If anyone has suggestions, I'm all ears!!! Thanks!
  13. ??? Do you not focus on high Protein? What do you mean ANYTHING??
  14. Yogurt is a slider for me so I have to chunk it up to give myself something to chew on (which is what activates the brain to give the signal for satiety). WOW! This post was worth these sweet words of wisdom! I DID NOT KNOW!!! Thank you!!! Thank you for all the ideas too. Sounds like you are a wonderful cook! YUMMY!

EndZone, Next time that happens and IT WILL! We get in a hurry to eat and feed the need and before we are aware of it, you have swallowed that little chunk too fast and once it's gone - it's GONE. I have found that drinking something warm helps to open the band a tad and helps whatever to slide on through, IF it isn't too large. I can NOT do pop corn not warmed over chicken. After an episode you will need to do liquids 2-3 days in order for all the irritation to properly heal. If you have a BAD EPISODE your Dr. can call you in some medication that is a soothing liquid- kinda like a coating to help you heal. I would be afraid to go to bed with soemthing stuck as I have heard of people swalling the BP back into their lungs. "Very Dangerous" Good luck and take it slow.

Sounds to me she failed beacuawe she didn't FOLLOW the rules. Slow eating, tiny bites, small portions. etc. etc.!!!!!
  17. A fill 3 weeks ago...I feel restriction finally and I get full fast. Now 3 weeks in this fill and it seems to still be getting tighter!?!?!? Why is my band SO inconsistent?

That's intersting about the water retention. I haevnt thought about that; maybe that does play a part in it as well. Are you drinking a gallon of water a day?
  23. BeachBish

    Advice please

  24. Each time I go for a fill my Dr. removes it all and adds .5cc - takes it all out and adds it all back plus 5cc....is the normal??

I think she is meaning she is VERY tight and not even ice cream will go down. I am 1.4 yr. out - I've lost 62#'s todate. HONESTLY... I am BACK on this website looking for answers. Ate one teaspoon of roast - chewed very well...having discomfort; may be the meat trying to digest !?!?!? #1 - Everyone is different.... #2 - The band is VERY inconsistent #3 - You will LIVE on liquids, and soft diet EVERY TIME you get a fill....THEY DID NOT tell me this...but I've adjusted to this "New way of Life" #4 - If and when you travel your band will change ... #5 - EVERY TIME the weather changes so does your band... #6 - If you get a stomach bug or bronchitis your band will have to be adjusted. If they get it too tight they let a lot out... 3 cc's ... then it's a game starting ALL over getting fills. #7 - Social eating will be IN THE PAST. It is very hard and difficult. #8 - You will learn to monopolize your time when eating...playing games on your phone you never thought you would like... #9 - There will be MANY foods you will no longer eat...YAY!!! No carbing out anymore...no sugar as you don't desire it anymore...No fibrous foods as they will not digest. Olives will become your new BFF. #10 - You will take a bite...place your fork down, wait at least 30 to 45 seconds while chewing that bite 30+ times before swallowing. Then on to the next bite... by the 5th bite your food is cold so you say thw it and move on to something besides eating. #10 - DOUBLE TRIPLE check your charges on insurance or self pay and how many fills are covered ...YOU WILL STILL NEED FILLS AND UNFILLS for a very long time, as you reduce your weight. My Dr. went from $130 a fill to $450 a fill. YEAGH!!! :/ So..... I had to locate and find another Dr. - now I drive an hour each way monthly. #11 - When they state LIFETIME change - BE ready for it!!! IT IS seriously a LIFETIME change but adaptable. #12 - I can't say 100% I'd say go for it as I don;t feel it is fair until I have reached my 2 year mark. I am pleased with my loss so far. It has been a slower process than I expected; however in the long run I KNOW it will stay off longer. PLEASE don;t take this the wrong way as me being negative . . . I wished I had searched and talked to MANY people prior to getting the band. js Good Luck - Feel free to add me as a friend. I'd like to know how you come out. Wishing you the best of luck with your journey.
