    self-challenge update

    I think I've made a good start on my January 1 challenge. Even with the minor setback I had a few weeks ago. I think my 2nd. fill has actually given me some restriction. I'm going to go to Curves 3x a week and try to ride my bike everyday. Hopefully that will help keep the weight loss going.

    Happy Friday the 13th. It's my lucky day!! Come won't you join me in a happy dance? Check out my ticker... That's right, I've lost 50 lbs. I walked into my mom's office today saying "All hail me, she who hath lost 50 lbs." I got cheers and a round of appalause. I think the new bike and the fact that I've been on liquids since Wednesday really helped jump-start the scale. So, to recap, I've already made my September goal, I'm back on track for my January 1 self-challenge, AND I made it to my 2nd. mini-goal. You know what that means, it's Van Gogh time. Wahoo!!!!! :dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

    2nd. Fill

    I had my 2nd. fill today. This time Arlene the R.N. (or is she an N.P., I can never remember) gave me my fill. I think she's faster at it than Dr. Jay. The needle hurt a little more but really still not bad. I think she just didn't bother with the numbing shot. She added 2 cc so now I have 7 cc in my band. I have the Vanguard which according to Dr. Jay can hold up to 14 cc. Arlene said I would be "super tight" now, so we'll see how it goes. Oh, according to my chart I lost 10 lbs. since my last fill.

    Bought a bike!

    I've been thinking about buying a bike for awhile now. I got some great advice from other LBTers. So, I went out and bought my new bike today. The salesdude let me take it for a spin around the parking lot. I was grinning like an idiot. I forgot how much fun it was. If anyone in the Dallas area wants a new bike, I highly recommend B&B Bicycles. Those guys are awesome! Here are some pics. of my new exercise "toy." I'm going for my 2nd fill tomorrow. I am so very much looking forward to getting some real restriction. I need my scale to start moving in the right direction, before I lose my mind.

  14. Hey y'all I'm thinking of purchasing a bike soon. I'm trying to make myself more active and keep from getting bored. That's when I usually head for the fridge. I'm hoping y'all can tell me things to look for/ask about when I go to the bike store. Any lingo I should know so that I won't make a fool of myself? Any tips offered will be greatly appreciated.

    ABC ~ October Chat

    I'm going for my 2nd fill tomorrow. I really hope this one does some good. I'm stalled and its getting me down. It seems just like every other diet I've ever been on. Things go well at first, I drop some pounds and I'm all motivated. And then it just stops. No more pounds dropping, I try to keep going with exercise, but the longer it takes for the scale to move in the right direction the more depressed I get. Then before you know I'm sitting on the couch eating ice cream or potato chips instead of going to the gym. Which is self-defeating I know, but still. When the scale won't move even though I'm still exercising and eating way less than I used to....... I'm still trying to think positive, but it is getting harder. I'm going to go buy a bicycle today. I keep reminding myself that muscle weighs more so I'm just building muscle not adding fat. AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I feel a little better now, thanks for letting me whine.

    That's a good idea. I wonder if the bike shop would let me take them for a spin around the parking lot. I know I said I was going back to the shop today, but I didn't get around to it. I have a real problem in that area. I'll definitely go somethime this week.

    Bike shopping advice?

    I'm just looking for a regular, comfy road bike. I'm not an "off-road" kind of girl. I actually went to my nearby bike shop a day or two ago. The guy recommended either a hybrid or a comfort bike. I still don't know which would be better. The comfort bike had wider tires. Does that have any effect on stabilty? I'd really like to not fall on my ass if I can help it. I can't remember if the bike he showed me had gears. If so, I'm gonna need someone to explain them to me. My last bike had 5 gears and I had no idea how to use them. I'm going back to the shop tomorrow. If anyone has any last minute advice I'd love to hear it. Read it, whatever.

    It is time for another weekly update. I'm so mad at myself for this week.:mad: Somehow I've managed to gain back 5-6 lbs.:think I don't even know what happened, this whole week has just been kind of a blur. I've scheduled another fill for next week. That'll be three weeks after my first fill. I really hope this one gives me some great restriction. I have to be back on liquids for a week afterwards. That should get me back on track for my January 1 goal. I really want to make it to One-derland by January. I also just found out that my dad is planning to bring my grandmother to visit for Thanksgiving. :help: Now, don't get me wrong, I love my grandmother. But she drives me crazy. She'll tell me how much she worries about me and how I'd be so pretty if I'd just lose weight. Oh but that isn't the worst! Usually about 5 minutes after she reminds me that I'm fat (you know like I forgot) she'll ask me if I want anything to eat. Does that make sense to anyone? 'Cuz it sure don't to me. So I want to lose as much as possible before Granny hits town. She doesn't know I have the band and I have no intention of letting her know. She'd just over-react and give me a headache. I know my reward for losing 75 lbs. is to buy a bicycle. I'm thinking of changing that. I may just go ahead and buy one now. It might help get going in the right direction again. I used to love to ride my bike when I was a kid. It would certainly help on the days when I can't manage to get to the gym. There is a bike store right by my work, I think I'll stop in there on Saturday. I've gotta do something. I won't be able to stand myself if I start yoyo-ing up again. :help:

  24. Hey y'all I'm checking in. I have to update my ticker. I gained 5 lbs.:faint: very upset with myself. I"ve scheduled another fill for next Wednesday (11th.) so maybe I can get back on track. I'm thinking of going ahead and purchasing a bike so I can have another way of getting in some exercise. I feel like I need to do something drastic to make my Jan.1 mini-goal. I just can't seem to make it to 230.
  25. Hey Virginia I'm having my second fill next week in Dallas. Who is your doc? Your post-fill diet usually depends on your doc. Mine requires a week of liquids after a fill before going back to regular foods. IMHO, fluoro is the best way to get a fill. It is a kind of xray so the doc can see exactly where your port is. Mine didn't hurt at all.
