  1. I am really sorry if this has been asked before, I searched but I still need some help. Up until now I have been going on the assumption that I would be a self-pay because of an employer exclusion. We just received our open enrollment packets for 2007 and low and behold the gods have shined upon Missouri state employees! :clap2: Qualifying criteria includes “documentation of at least two failed attempts at weight loss with a duration of at least six months each”. I know this is going to sound stupid, but I have failed many times but never documented these failures for prosperity so I am going to have to recreate these events. Can anyone give me suggestions on what the insurance company (Mercy) will be looking for in these documents?
  2. O.k. I hate to sound like a total idiot but what is a "PB"? And what foaming? What foams? why would it foam? why did it never foam before? What other little suprises are waiting for me when I get banded?

    What do you drive?

I drive a black 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. Gas kills me but I needed something I could get my ex's wheelchair in and out of. Other than the fuel costs I love it.
  4. I never really looked to deaply into weight loss surgery since my insurance doesn't cover it and besides, bypass just plain scared the steam out of me. Anyway, I got to the point where I had to do something and started searching online for solutions and found a site for someplace in Mexico. I loved the idea of not actually re-routing nature and the slower weight loss seemed healthier so I started reseaching local facilities and found a program close to home.

    seeking self pay advice

Thanks, good luck to you both! I hope you get rid of that headache. Looks like Dr. Wagner practices at the old Lutheran Hospital, I don't think I can get any closer than that! It's geat that Dr. Wagner could aliviate all the concerns you had with the other Dr. He sounds great, Thank you.

    seeking self pay advice

Stesti, I hope you and your friend are feeling good after your banding. Where did you go? I am in St. Louis and am looking for a Dr. Also, how did you get insurance to pay for the pre-testing? Did you have that done thru your pcp?

    hello

Hey all, I am going to the seminar in two weeks in St. Louis. I have pretty well made my decision and short of some very drastic news or information I am planning on going ahead with the procedure. I know they will be giving me a lot of info at the seminar but I would much rather hear from real people than depend on the accuracy of the literature (and I’m just that impatient). What is the procedure from seminar to surgery? How long does this take? I am a self-pay so I don’t have to get insurance approval. I read in here somewhere about “Myocel” are you put on a liquid diet prior to surgery? How much weight do they want you to loose pre-op? I would like drive from the seminar to the hospital if they would let me. Is there anyone else in the St. Louis on this board? How often do you have to be seen by a support member (Dr’s visits, nutritionist etc?) I also want to make sure I say this upfront, I was looking for a message board regarding lap-band surgery today and have spent a good part of the day searching this site. I am completely amazed at the generosity of support you guys all give each other on this site…. you all deserve a great big hand! :clap2: Becca
