    Newly banded

Congrats on your weight loss I know it feels great. I can't wait to be where you are right now.
  2. Wow congrats on your weight loss. That is exactly what I want the band for to help me not eat as much as I do. I am the type that piles up plate and will eat mostly all of it. Or if I go out to eat I will eat it all. I want to be able to not eat as much and I will eat healthy foods 80% of the time.
  3. I finally went to the siminar and I really want the band now. I am pleased with all the info that I got from this site and the siminar. There was a lady there that has had the band for 4 yrs and lost 70lbs. She said you can basically eat whatever just much less. I had asked if you can ever have a treat. I think she would probably have lost more if she would of dieted with the band though. I mean 70lbs in 4 yrs is not that much. Can you guys tell me how you now eat and was it hard to just stop eating completly. I do like to eat as im sure everyone does, but how did you do it just stop eating all the junk. I mean I know I can diet as I have tried before, but I would always mess up when I get hungry and starving that's why I need help and always used diet pills. Can someone please explain to me the eating part do you really like say goodbye forever to some good foods?
  4. I was at the siminar yesrterday and forgot to ask. He did say something about the Elise band, but I can't remember. What is the difference?
  5. I know it's a helper all im trying to say is that basically do you ALWAYS have to eat healthy foods. I mean I can do with healthy foods, but sometimes ANYBODY want's a nice meal I don't care how much you diet. Like I said I am willing to work with the band im not saying that I will just grub on fries, fried foods, burgers, and fast food all day everyday. Im just saying all the overweight people here we all have tried diets, pills etc and it didn't work so I know nobody here could just never have a treat is what im saying. Like for me I was thinking of doing weight watchers with my band. Also im not a big sweet eater either. I mean people here say the band is a helper not a mircle i know this.
  6. Yes I to like to eat I am just wondering can I at least have a favorite meal once a wk or something. I mean it's pretty hard to just give it all up forever. My cousin had the surgery and she looks great I saw her drinking a beer so there must be some things you can do, but have to watch it. The bad part is my cousin wants no one to know she had it and would be pissed at my aunt if she knew she told me so I can't say anything to her about it. I want the band and am cool wit eating lesser if the band will help for that I don't snack much anyway I just like to eat. I just would like to eat some of my favorite foods every now and then is what im saying.
  7. I go to the siminar tomorrow and I just have a question. I heard that it's up to you and your dr to decide if the band is right for you or not. Has anyone had the dr tell them that the band wasn't right for them and to go with gastric, but you didn't want to and got the band anyway? Is it really your choice I mean has anyone you know been turned down to get the band. I know some dr's may talk you into the gastric to get more money from the surgery. I know a friend of mine went to the siminar and changed her mind to the gastric instead of the band. Can anyone help with this question?
  8. Can anyone tell me how long are you on this diet before surgery. I swear I thought I read someone was in there 3rd month of this diet before surgery. I thought this was after surgery Please explain the dieting before and after surgery. I hope I don't have to go on a diet for 3-6 months before surgery. I mean if I can do that then I wouldn't need the band :purplebananna:
  9. Aww ok thank you this was helpful i will be calling my ins company im not self pay. Yaaaaaaaaay I just called my ins and there is no diet requirements or counsling good. I have preffered one ins.
  10. Hi I was just looking at your pictures and you lost really good. I am so excited I cannot wait to get the band. I have to attend the meeting on the 28th I just hope I can get it this yr. Also can you give me and idea of what you eat with the band and what workout plan your on?

  11. Hi thank you so much for the info you did answer some of my concerns. I thought that about the counsling for lap band I figured maybe because it's not invasive is why people get it so fast without months of counsling. Yes, but I haven't even went to the meeting yet, but I really feel that this is what I want. I am 31 and need to do something before I get older. It is so hard to diet I have tried so many things which im sure everyone here has and I refuse to have gastric I don't want my insides cut up. I did have one more question what about this pre op diet thing what is that and how long do you have to do this. I heard some people saying they do it for like 3-6 months or something like that is what I have been reading here. I also heard like for 6 days and what is it that you eat on this diet before surgery how long did you yourself have to be on this diet?

  12. Hi all I am new here and have been thinking of gastric, but too scared for that one and will never do it. So I saw my cousin yesterday and she looks great. She has the band, but doesn't want anyone to know so she doesn't know I know about it. I want to talk to her, but I can't so I am here. I have never had any surgery before and am scared to death, but I have tried so many diets they just don't work. I refuse to spend another dime on dieting. I just need help with loosing this weight. I think I am going to call my dr tomorrow to make an appointment to see a surgeon and go to a siminar and hear more about it. My mother is all for it, but my husband is scared and don't even want to talk about it with me. I have a few friends who has had the gastric and he thinks they all look sick and are not healthy and thinks the band is the same thing. i told him I don't care if he isn't behind me on this he doesn't understand how I feel I have been fat for too long now and it's time to do something about it. Anyone have any advice for me I would love to hear it. also I want to know do you have to go to counsling for months before having the band. I can remember my friends having to go to counsling before there gastric surgery for a long time before they got the surgery done. Can you feel the band sitting in your stomach? Do you throw up a lot like people with gastric?
  13. Can you all tell me what made you decide on the band instead of gastric? I mean I know gastric is more invasive and all, but how did you decide? Also I go to my first meeting on the 28th and I can't wait to hear all the info. I am so scared, but tired of trying over and over again to loose this weight.
  14. Thanks for the info, but yeah I cannot go to my cousin becuase she will be realy mad at her mother for telling so that's out. I guess I will learn more at the meeting I am calling today to see when the next meeting will be. Also I just see in here how people go to the consult with dr then schedule surgery so I was asking about the counsling becuase it seems there is none. Like you saw dr in march then scheduled surgery the end of march. I mean did you have to have counsling for months before or what? Also I see you just had the surgery how do you feel?

    New Tonight

Wow 40 lbs that is great. I am calling my dr tomorrow to get set up with someone to see about getting the lap-band myself. I am scared, but nothing is working for me and im just sick of it and want to loose weight very badly. I have a question after your first appointment what happens? Do you have to have counsling and all that for like 4 months. I heard you go through this with gastric and was wondering if the same with the band.
