    June 1, '09 Banders

Melliecat, Here I am at home already! My surgery was at about 2pm and I was home by 5:15pm! It was a lot easier than I anticipated . . . some of the war stories by previous banders scared me. I refused the morphine in the hospital and took the liquid Lortab instead and I'm glad I did. I'm sore, of course, and have a litte gas, but so far, so good! I haven't been exactly hungry but my stomach was growling since I hadn't had anything by mouth since 10pm last night, so I had some cream of chicken soup and drank high protein Isopure. All-in-all, not a bad experience (so far)! Hope yours goes as well!

    June 1, '09 Banders

Good luck all! I'm also having my banding June 1, but not until early afternoon, so I'm hoping I'll still be able to come home tomorrow evening. Sorry about you having to have the Mag Citrate, QuincyGirl . . hope it's all out of your system by the time you get on the road!! Luckily I don't have to do that!

    Psychological Evaluation For BCBS?

I also have BCBS of IL and had the psych eval as required. It really just involved a consultation and a "personality" test. I was not on antidepressants at the time, but had previously been on Paxil and I told the psychologist that. After going over my psych testing with me, she wrote a recommendation for surgery and that was that! Just be open and honest about why you want the surgery and make it clear that you don't expect miracles. I think most psychologists will approve or recommend the surgery. It's just one of the hoops the insurance company makes you go through. I did everything BCBS of IL told me to do and had no problem getting the surgery approved. I'm having the Lap Band on June 1. Good Luck!

    pre op diet confusion

I'm very confused about the pre-op diet, too! My surgeon put me on a hi protein Slimfast diet with one meal/day. . chicken, veggies, etc. for 2 weeks. He told me I could do Optifast, but last time I tried that I was constantly sick to my stomach. I'm really trying, but it's hard because I am always hungry!

Am I too fat for the band?

My surgery is scheduled on June 1st and I'm a little nervous about my liver being "too thick." RestlessMonkey, I noticed that you had that problem and I'm wondering what you did differently the second time. As excited as I am, I'm having a really hard time with this pre-op diet. I certainly don't want to set myself up for failure!!

    June 2009 Surgery

Hi all . . . I'm also scheduled for June 1st and at this point I think I'm more nervous about sticking to the pre-op diet, which I start tomorrow, than anything else! I don't want to fail before I even start. I'm also excited about my prospects, but then again, I'm afraid to be too optimistic . . . ARRGGHHH! Good luck to those of you having surgery in June and hopefully we can support each other in the coming months! :rolleyes2:
