  1. I had surgery May 29th and have started on soft foods like refried beans, mashed potatoes and yogurt with applesauce. I wonder how and which foods I should start incorporating now. Any ideas and suggestions will be greaty appreciated!

6 days post op and starving

The hunger gets better, too. At least it did for me. Hang in there!
  3. Linda - we were banded the same day so I am curious what you are eating. I had my first scrambled egg yesterday, but nothing like cereal yet. How have you lost so much weight already???

    Post-Op Blues

The post-op blues are something no one can prepare you for. I was hungy by the third day, but also struggling with the "head hunger." I had to sit in my bedroom while my family ate meals because I could not handle it. I have been cranky and wondering what the heck I did to myself. After 2+ weeks of liquids, yesterday I started mushies with a scrambled egg and today I had refried beans. It is amazing how chewing boosted my spirits (sad I know). I think we just have to all hang in there until we get to the "sweet spot" I keep hearing about. Knowing that we are all going through a similar experience is very comforting to me as well so thanks to all for sharing!!
  5. I just got off a "panic" call with my dr. about this pain...I had surgery 5/29 and was doing great until midnight last night when I woke up with a sharp stabbing pain in my right ribcage. I assumed it was gas and did everything I could think of to alleviate it, but after 18 hours of real pain I called the dr. He said it is most likely the port (and maybe some stictches came loose) causing a flare up as it tries to attach itself to my insides. He reminded me there is a foreign body in there and this is fairly common. It hurts when I move to either side, take a deep breath, etc...He said to take pain meds, kids liquid Tylenol (anti-inflammatory) and warm compresses and call him tomorrow. Ouch!
  6. My surgery is next Friday and I am nervous and excited all at the same time. My dr. does not prescribe the pre-op diet so I am eating everything in sight which scares me. My surgery will be in Glendale with Dr. Keshishian, but I live in Palm Desert and would love to meet any other desert banders! I am looking forward to giving and getting support from everyone here.:purplebananna:
  7. Thanks for the tip...I am just learning how to navigate the site!
  8. I relate to what you are going through...my surgery is next week and I feel like everything I eat will be "the last time" I ever have it and therefore am eating twice as much of it. My doc does not do the pre-op diet so I am going a little crazy and having lots of anxiety. I am not sure what the answer is, but I wanted you to know you are not alone.

    California Mayo Banditos?

I am having surgery on May 29th in Glendale with Dr. Keshishian, but I live in Palm Desert...I am getting very nervous and excited. My doc does not do the two week pre-op liquid diet so I am still eating regular food (and trying to get in "one last" of everything)!
