    100+ Pound Club

Even losing slowly now would not be as discouraging as it was before because I didn't have to worry about losing 3 pounds during the week and having 2 come back over the weekend. Or losing 25 pounds in a few months only to have it come back just as quickly. That is the thing that has me going right not...I'm going to lose it and IT IS GOING TO STAY OFF!!!

I didn't realize they sold it there. Good info. I love mine. How are you doing today?

If you live near a Costco, their phone cards are cheap.
  4. Holy Moley! I can't even imagine. Although I felt great right after surgery, I still was on pins and needles regarding possible leaks or other complications. I liked the security of being in the hospital.

Are you bringing a computer? If so, quickly order a MagicJack. It costs $19.95/yr. You plug the jack into the computer and then plug a phone into the jack and call anywhere in the world from anywhere. I used it on a cruise ship in the middle of the Med. I'm not sure if the phones in the hospital unplug from the wall so they could plug into the jack or not, but you can bring an old-fashioned phone from home. I use this phone to call my son in Canada and now use it for all my long-distance calls from home.
  6. :001_tongue: They used some serious tape on the surgery sites. Not the cute little papery stuff we use that works itself off after it gets wet a few times. I noticed my skin was getting red under the tape and went to pull it off. It is stuck tight. It about takes the skin with it and I worry about the wound scab itself coming off. Plus I am not one of our esteemed RN's here so admit it was making me squeemish. :crying: I didn't take it off the large incision yet. I'll give it another day or two and then close my eyes.

    Today is the Day

I'm glad you guys are home and OK. It affects each person differently. I wonder why. I count myself to be one of the very lucky ones. Did the trip wear you out, Susan? You found another Henderson gal? That makes five of us now! We'll have quite a club here.

Another good idea. You don't even need skype. You can use Msn messenger or yahoo too.
  9. Well, dang it. I missed it by two weeks! I could have used that break.

I forgot to take my MagicJack with me. It is the greatest. I've used it worldwide, even in the middle of the Med. You plug it into your computer and as long as you have an internet connection you can make phone calls. Just plug the phone into the jack and you are on your way. It costs $19.95/yr.

    I've been sleeved

Have a safe trip home. Don't you feel better now that it is behind you? Here's to a speedy recovery.

How is it going today? How is Susan. Day 2 will be the worst of your recovery and it isn't all that bad. Just uncomfortable getting the gas out.

Welcome. I hope to be you very soon. You are doing so well.

Thanks for updating us. I've been thinking about you today.
  15. Do you have a clue as to what might have brought on the leak?
  16. I hate the 'my doctor is better than your doctor' wars that goes on in boards like this. I behooves you to research your physician to the best of your ability. After that it comes down to your comfort zone. There are many fine doctors out there, not just one.
  17. I did a modified Atkins. I did their shakes for breakfast and lunch and then ate a dinner of a lean meat/fish and vegetables. If I got hungry in between I ate a piece of cheese or a slice of turkey.

    100+ Pound Club

I think it will take a while for THEIR minds to adjust to the new, skinny you. Their brain is still expecting the other you to show up on their doorstep so it is a shock to them. Don't worry about them.

    Sweet potato

I grill 12 months a year. We even did when we lived where it might snow every now and then. I cannot eat a steak that was not grilled.

    Being informed

Mac have you seen the one who is back? She is a couple of weeks out. Last post she was talking about eating french fries. Now she ate a SLICE of pizza, less than three weeks from surgery. This is the second WLS for her. The lapband failed her. You think? If she wanted to continue to eat crap, she should have had a bypass. Instead she is risking her life with her antics.
  21. Thank you for the forum. It is great. BUT, since you asked... I don't like the PM format. It is confusing to follow, especially after a few replies. That is JMHO. Thanks

    Relief of Post-op Gas

People told me to bring Gas-X. I'm not so sure that it was a good idea. I think it was better when the gas worked itself out.
  23. Without a certification I could probably match information with any nutritionist out there regarding weight loss. That does not mean I followed it.

    Since you asked...

Yep. The one on the right. It is annoying.

    Since you asked...

I had a PM that went back and forth 3 - 4 times and it chained down. Maybe I can copy it and send it to you in a PM?
