Congratulations! That is quite an accomplishment. -
The scale finally moved and guess what it read!!

That is fabulous. It is all downhill from here. Congratulations! -
We don't owe strangers our personal information. I have two friends who really need the surgery and might think about it if they saw my success. I shared the information with them. People I know would not consider it and would pooh pooh it or just the plain curious don't need the information from me on my personal life.

I deeply resent being told I'm not being honest if I do not choose to share my personal information. I see this on another board I post to also. At least give us credit as to knowing who our audience is. Please also allow us to maintain our privacy with dignity too.

I told no one. Hubby, Sister (because she lives near me and would have missed me), my daughter (who came with me), and one son found out. It is nobody's business. This losing weight is hard work. I'M doing it. The sleeve helps but the sleeve does not equal weight loss unless you do the work. We have a large family and they LOVE to gossip. I refuse to be the topic of the day. This is my personal business. OTOH, I did tell two close friends who have struggled with weight right along with me and now have be having weight related health issues. I would love to see them follow in my footsteps. Sis did just this last week. If anyone asks, I have been following a low calorie, low carb diet and increased my exercise. That is not a lie. THAT is how the weight is coming off.

Well they are amazing. Dr. Aceves walked into the room with the surgery patients and their companions and looked at me and said "I know you, don't I?". He remembered my photos I had brought along. He said he remembered me because of the spark I had in my eyes when I was here. What a sweetie he is. Dr. Campos remembered too, but that may have been because my daughter had come with me and she is hard to forget. lol A couple of the nurses remembered me too without me having to remind them that I had been here before. They asked me first. Sis is having a much harder time than I did. She was miserable yesterday. I kept trying to assure her that Day 2 is the worst. I don't think she believed me, but she is doing better today. I met "ItsTime" here. She had her surgery the day after Sis did and is doing very, very well. She looks really perky. All leak tests are done and we'll be on our way in the morning.

That's even better than the going down sizes NSV's. Health improvements is what it is really all about.

I went out Saturday with hubby to Celebrate his birthday. I went through my closet and was hard pressed to find anything nice to wear I've been wearing Chico's size 1.5 jeans which equates to a size 10. Yesterday I went to Ross's discount store. They had a lot of pants that were marked down so I grabbed a bunch to try on. I took in 12's and for the heck of it I took in some 10's not expecting them to really fit. But they DID! ALL of them. No matter what brand. I was so excited. I haven't been a 10 in many, many years. Of course the last time I was a 10 I weighed 40 pounds less than I do now which is why I did not expect them to fit. I am a happy, happy person these days. P.S. I had to buy a couple of bras too. I'd been putting it off for too long. I knew it was time because when I reached up my boobies nearly fell out of the bottom. lol After trying a few on I found out why. I've gone from a 42 to a 36.

I wasn't calling you out. I was just impressed.

20 Minutes for FOUR miles?? WOW! A 20-minute MILE is considered pretty darn good. Congrats!
-
Do you think they actually remember all of their patients? It will be six months when I see them. Maybe I'll bring my goal photos. The ones I showing where I want to get to. Dr. Aceves loved them and loved the fact that I planned on getting there again. (I was 22 in them - lol )
-
I'll be there at the same time. Sis is having surgery on the 3rd so we are arriving the 2nd.
-
I've 'lost' one of them. The little boy is the sweetest ever and so cuddly. The little girl has found a place to hide and I can't find her. lol

I went to the animal shelter today and got two adorable kittens. Therefore I needed to get supplies. I stopped at Costco and picked up a 40 pound container of kitty litter. I could barely get it off of the ground and needed help to get it into the cart. I just lost TWO of those from my body. How the hell did I allow myself to get that bogged down. No wonder I was slowing down.

My PCP must have liked what she saw when I went in for my 3-month blood work because today she told me that she'd called Dr. Aceves for more information and for materials for her patients.
-
LOL, because I saw the SAME little triangle on me yesterday. LIGHT! Wow. It has been eons since that last happened.

Dr. Aceves and Meds?
Rosebud2 replied to artteacher698's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are taking blood pressure medicine talk to your PCP before the surgery. You should not crush them. I was doing that and my blood pressure went off the chart. Sometimes you can get one that you take twice a day and spread it out that way. So if you are taking any other meds be sure to talk to your PCP or pharmacist before you crush them. -
I know we aren't supposed to compare. I know this is a marathon and not a sprint. But I have to confess to being totally frustrated. My progress has been so slooooooow. I was hoping for a kick start the first month being that almost three weeks of that was just liquids, and then it would level off to a slower but steady progress after that. I lost more on my pre-op diet eating a heck of a lot more than I am now and I wasn't even exercising. The last two and a half weeks I've barely eked out two pounds. At that rate it is going to take me two years and there are people on the boards doing it in 4 - 6 months. I did not expect that to happen since I'm a so-called 'lightweight', but I didn't think eight to ten pounds a month was too much to ask for. I'm so disappointed. I'm not expecting answers, I just needed to vent to someone.

That is the hardest part of the surgery. It is a big problem for me too. Do you buy magnesium tablets? Where do you find them? -
anyone have info on Dr Guillermo Alvarez in Piedras Negras?
Rosebud2 replied to cajun's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
The original poster asked for information. Information/links were supplied. It is up to them as to how much to value the information. They need to put it into the equation when choosing a surgeon. You are defending a surgeon you don't have personal information on too. Nobody told you not to use him. You need to weigh all input and value it for yourself as to what is important to you. It sounds as though you have already made your decision because you are being very defensive. Many people have had good outcomes with him, but wouldn't you want all the information available when making that decision. -

Doesn't he have a lawsuit against him for a death? Do I have my doctors confused?
