6/3/09 Promise of Days to Come

Great News! Ride the restriction wave as long as you can and try not to push it. As you know you and I were banded at the same time but I had my first fill on may 21st and I had my first real challenge yesterday hungry all day both physical and mental and I didn't make the best food choices (sausage and peppers for dinner). And of course I'm paying for it this morning I was up 2 lbs so I started my day with a protien shake and I'm going to try and get back on track!
  2. Hey Thanks! I love reading your blogs!

    First fill this week!!!

Hi Readytobethin I had my surgery April 21st 2009 and I had my 1st fill on June 21st and I'm not sure if I actually experience "restriction" however I have been eating less probably because I'm afraid of getting sick and I'm very anxious to loose the weight. However there are many nights that I want to keep eating and I drink the water that I didn't get in throughout the day. From the posting I've read the restriction can take time and even once it happens you need to continue to work a program that is both well balanced in quanity and quality of food along with working out. If you aren't currently keeping a food diary I have found that it is very helpful and I would weight all your foods this has worked for me currently and in the past. Good Luck!

    Introduction Blog

Jlray - I love you post I am also a food addict and I have battled with my weight my entire life. In 2000-2001 I had lost 130 lbs doing Weight Watchers (I was fitting into a size 8) and I struggled to keep it off and last year the scale hit my highest weight and then added a few more pounds. It was so hard for me to acknowledge that I had failed even today I think about all the time and things I've missed out on. So 6 weeks post-op I'm down about 41 lbs and I'm feeling good but it is a long road ahead and I have come to terms with being a food addict and I am really trying to obtain a "normal" relationship with food (whatever that is!).

I need a kick in the butt...slap in the face...something!!!!

The most important thing is to not beat yourself up or look at this as failing, just like Tondavi719 said it is a journey and we are going to have some good and some bad days the key is you recognize that your eating has gone off track now it's important to get back on the road to finding that healthy balance between you and food. I was banded on April 21,2009, I had my first fill on May 21st and I've lost about 38 lbs but I'm still trying to find my way and one thing that has helped me is to not deprive myself but know my triggers. For example I really wanted ice cream last week so I went to the store and bought a box of 100 calorie low sugar ice cream sandwiches as I started eating one I started to feel the guilt so I ate half of the sandwich and threw the rest out along with the remaining box of sandwiches. I knew if they were in the freezer I would have eaten all of them by nights end. I'm trying really hard to approach this process as a life change and not a diet. Good Luck and we are all in this together one way or another!

    First fill

Hi I'm new to this as well. I was banded on 4/21 and I had my first fill yesterday. Just as Jewels41 mentioned it is quick and pain free however it's a little sensitive to the touch. As far as eating I haven't had any issues with anything getting stuck but I'm very careful not to swallow if I can't chew it completely such as grape skins. I definitely notice the difference in the amount I'm eating so I guess that's restriction??? I'm still trying to listen and understand what my body is telling me such as what does hungry feel like and what is full! Wish all of you luck and look forward to hearing more!!

    Damnit!

I am new to the game. My surgery date was April 21st and I today I received my first adjustment. So I don't have much experience but it sounds to me that you are not eating frequently enough. My doctor and dietitian said not to go more than 3 hours without eating although I haven't been able to eat that frequently I have found that eating multiple small meals has kept my "binge" personality in check. (so far!) Good Luck!
