Ugh, the flu is kicking my butt!!! I'm coughing a lot and I'm a little worried that it could cause my band to slip. I've read several post about people having coughing fits and their band slipping. It has only been six weeks or so since I've been banded. I'm hoping nothing bad happens. I've been able to eat the recommended amounts and stay full for three or four hours which is much better than what I was able to do. I ate steak for the first time tonight, it was wonderful! I had to cut it very thin and chew chew chew. I'm beginning to feel like a train...chew chew ...chewwwwww

Congrats on gaining some sanity! It's a tough journey but one that I think will be worth it in the end. Good luck, let us know how you're doing.

I was involved in a car accident, which caused my band to slip! Please Read!

Wow, glad you're ok. I've wondered if an accident could cause damage...now I know...thanks for sharing. Hope you are doing ok. -
IT'S FINALLY DONE!! As any of you who have been reading my blogs know, I have been diligently working on flowers and decorations for a friends wedding. I'm so glad I'm done with that! It turned out awesome and she was extremely happy. NSV of the day, I wore a skirt to the wedding that my ex husband bought me about 15 years ago and I have never been able to wear it, he bought it about four sizes to small. (thanks honey) It FIT today!!!!! It was fun I had a friend tell me that it made me look really skinny!!!!! I will admit, it was a nice thing to hear~~ I'm starting to see a change, with this last fill and feeling the restriction, I'm hoping the number on the scale changes too. That's it for me, I have the flu and I'm headed to bed. Hope everyone in bandland is doing well, keep in touch!

I told her not to do it!!!!!! Although, I would probably do it again one day if the right person comes along.

Good job!!! Keep it up!!!

It's ok after you've been banded...For me, after the pre-op diet...I CAN'T STAND the sight of it...YUCK!!!! If you like it it's a great snack for just 5 to 10 calories.

4th fill today, 2 1/2 months post op. 30 lbs lost
bashful1269 commented on amh6967's blog entry in Blog 65633
30 pounds lost is good, just think of it this way...It's 30 pounds that are never going to be on your body again!! Not sure on the occasional left shoulder pain, I've read some post that people do have this for several months after surgery, I'm not sure why. Just had my second fill and can really tell the difference now, I must CHEW CHEW CHEW or end up paying the price. Hope the fill works for you! -
I know the feeling!! I had my second fill and I have definitely been reminded that my band is playing now. It's tough getting used to the new restriction. Like you I forget to chew and then end up running, to what feels like jail...It's a journey that's for sure!

I slept in a recliner for the first four days. It HURT to lay down and the only way I could get comfortable was sitting mostly upright. It took about five days to feel half way normal again. Make sure you walk a lot it will help. As far as getting stuck on liquids...Did you have the lapband or realize band? If the lapband they now come with a partial fill and everyone that I've talked to has had to go into their surgeon to have the fluid removed because the swelling and the fill were just too much restriction. Don't hesitate to call your hot doc...that's what he's there for...besides it might just be a good reason to have to go see him again :smile2: Good luck!

I went for my second fill today, I felt fine drinking the little bit of water that she gave me. I stopped and bought a bottle of water on the way home and drank a little bit, by the time I made it back to work, 40 minutes later (long drive) I felt ROUGH ROUGH ROUGH!! After about three hours I started feeling better and attempted to eat some white chili, after about four spoonfuls I was full!!!! YAY!!!! FINALLY!!! That feeling of fullness lasted well over four hours and a five mile bike ride. Went for dinner at a chinese restaurant and ate one crab rangoon and the broth of my egg drop soup and was full again. AMAZING, this is what I've been waiting for! I have to admit the prospect of getting stuck more easily makes me a little nervous, I know there have been times in the past when I have not chewed well enough. This fill, I'm going to have to be careful and chew chew chew. I'm still a member of the clean your plate club, I need to break that habit. I'm hoping with this fill, it will help me control that by that last bit syndrome where I'll really feel it if I over eat. Not much else to report tonight, I'm tired and heading to bed. With a special prayer of thanksgiving for finally feeling some restriction.

I go for my second fill tomorrow. I am hoping to start getting some restriction. Pretty much anything goes down and I can eat way more than I am supposed to eat. I know this because I have been STRESSED and eating too much, this week trying to get everything done that I need to get done before going on vacation. I have a friends wedding on Saturday and I am doing all of her decorations and flowers and photography for, it's going to be CRAZY busy! I don't think that I've lost. I haven't gotten on the scales because I'm afraid of them this week. One good thing that I've been doing is exercise. An hour a day of cardio, weight lifting twice a week, and yoga and zumba twice a week. I'm sure I've lost a few inches at least. I had a margarita last night...half a margarita more like it...I AM A CHEAP DrunK!!!! Bonus on the banding...little food...little drink= CHEAP DATE! That's it for tonight, time to rest.

NO doubt to the harder than I thought it would be!! I go for my second fill tomorrow, I'm hoping for some restriction. The first didn't seem to do much. Good luck!

female only Nothing to do with the band...just need help
bashful1269 posted a topic in The Gals' Room
First sorry this has nothing to do with the band...I don't know where else to go to ask this question and I know that there are a lot of great minds out there so... My friend just moved in with me and she has a ten year old son who is having major difficulties reading. I would guess he's reading at a first grade level. It took him over ten minutes to read one paragraph! He has to sound out every word! I don't have kids and have never been around kids. His mom doesn't read much, she's a high school drop out and has NO patience for his reading. I offered to help but I'm CLUELESS! The one thing that I did was tonight when working on his spelling words I made him say the word then spell the word and say the word again and write the word. I'm hoping the repetition helps. Does anyone have any ideas, what else I can do with him to help get him up to speed? She has talked to his teacher and will be getting help at school. Any ideas on rewards for doing a good job? I really want to try to stay away from the typical food rewards that he's been getting from his gma. Don't want to teach a new generation bad eating habits ya know? I would appreciate any and everyone's thoughts. Thanks, -

Thanks for the great ideas and thoughts everybody. I think possibly part of the reading problem is actually a vision problem. I've been watching him lately and even playing his psp he holds it pretty close to his face. Then I asked him if he could read the letters on my cell phone and he said he couldn't see them. I think that's the next step. We did speak with his teacher and asked her for extra help for him. He is attending a brand new school and the classes have been over crowded, they are in the process of making a new class. We went to barnes and nobles Friday night to pick out books and the only thing that he wanted to buy was the picture books for pre k...I did find out that he likes to draw so I was thinking that if I bought him some books that teach how to draw that he would actually have to read the words and then make it happen...thus increasing his comprehension level...What do you think? It's going to take some work... Thankfully, I've got a lot of patience when it comes to teaching people. Thanks again for all the replies!~ -
3 days post-op and cant get all my liquids in any one else?
bashful1269 replied to mems's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm five weeks post op and it's still hard for me to get all my Water in. It is very important to get it, so sip all day long carry a water bottle everywhere you go. You don't want to end up dehydrated and in the hospital. Good luck -
Good for you! Keep it up, you can do this! It's a lifestyle change that's for sure! I had my first fill, my friend cooked dinner for me the next night and I got stuck after two bites! It hurt and scared me and I cried at the table too, it happens...this is not an easy journey that's for certain! I pray that God gives you and every banster out there the ability to make healthy choices. Keep in touch and let me know how you're doing.
