was banded myself dec. 2008..decided on that because i wanted to control my weight lose..didnt want such and extensive surgery. wanted to keep my part in tact..lol Im very happy with my decision..and have lost 64 lbs so it defietely works as well as by-pass..but you do need to have more self control with banding as opposed to by-pass
