Hi Mariposa..I'm Danielle...Sounds like you are doing great so far! When I was on mushies I ate a lot of oatmeal, tuna, and different kinds of flakey white fish...also had some pudding and rice pudding for snacks..Panera Soups were also a lifesaver! Good luck you will be on whole foods before you know it!

Hey All:
I was banded on 6/19 and am down 21 pounds...my first fill was on Wednesday (3cc's) so far I don't feel much difference though...

I weigh myself every Friday morning...I am trying to keep it to once a week although sometimes mid-week I will check also

I am complete lip care pyscho! I have always used different products but for the past 6 years or so I have been using Aquaphor and I couldn't be happier with it. I can't even use anything else at this point. I keep a tube in my bag, a tub by my bed and a TUB in my office...Can't recommend it enough!

Hey GonnaLooseit...I know we were banded the same day and I had my first fill yesterday. He put 3 cc's in and now I"m back on liquids for today. Tomorrow and Saturday have to do mushies. I am hungry today so hopefully I will start to feel some restriction soon. Why would it take 2 weeks to feel the difference?? I agree though it was SO painless and easy

Hi Sillygrilly, I am from Long Island and was banded on 6/19/09 by Dr. Fielding at NYU...I'd love to chat sometime

I was having the same questions a couple of weeks ago. I had two mixed drinks on fourth of July which is when I was 2 weeks post op. I also had a glass of sangria at happy hour this past week...so far no troubles. I haven't tried anything carbonated yet though. I understand what you are saying...it's very hard to have a social life when you are trying to stay away from going out to eat and going out drinking. Just take it slow and you will be fine

Congrats hun, you look amazing!!!

Thanks for the responses...I also am trying to stretch my eating out over about 15 mins...it's easier when I am at work and can do other things to distract myself in between but when I'm at home it seems like it takes forever and then the food gets cold! Anyways like everything else guess its a learning experience...

That's fantastic..congrats!

Hi all:
I'm sure this question has been asked before but I am currently on the mushy stage and I'm just wondering for when I get to whole foods stage how long should it take to eat a meal? Obviously I realize that everyone is different, but if you think of a typical dinner with eating slow and chewing well, how long does it take??
-
This may be a stupid question but I am a newbie still on mushies. Having milk with your cereal isn't going against the no eating and drinking at the same time policy? I love healthy cereals and wasn't sure if it would give me a problem once I am on whole foods...

Thanks for the responses! Guess it's just something I'll learn to do as time goes on...but for now as soon as I take a bite I am thirsty lol...thanks again!

I just posted the same thread in the post op forum...I am so interested to see people's responses!

Hi All:
So I am finishing day three of mushies and am doing the recomended no drinking 5 mins before and 20 mins after eating. I find it to be very difficult as it's normal to be thirsty while eating. Just wondering if anyone has any special tricks for this or if some people will have a sip or two mid-meal? If I was normally trying to eat slow I would have a sip take a rest etc but now its like I'm trying to eat slow while being thirsty and then I know I have to wait a while...if anyone has any ideas please shoot them my way..thanks!

I was banded on 6/19 by Dr. Fielding at NYU. I had no issues with the insurance but I did bug my surgical coordinator a few times just to make sure everything was in motion with the insurance. I also called my insurance twice just to double check on everything because I am paranoid lol. They are both fantastic doctors and the staff is very professional so you are in good hands...best of luck

I'm with you girl! I am one week post op and can't wait to get some sort of a social life back lol...Obviously not going too crazy bc I did this for a reason I want to lose weight but I def. want to be able to have a couple of drinks every once in a while so I'm interested to see how people who are used to their band deal with this...
TO ALL MY FELLOW PARTIERS!!:party:Ok so I love to go out With my husband to have some drinks at clubs and Bars.....
Has it affected anybody TO HAVE SOME DRINKS SINCE YOU GOT YOUR BAND??
I mean can you?? (I know its kinda dumb to ask)
But I Love to go out dancing!!!
SORRY!!! Its just the truth!
I asked my Dr. and all he said was it is not recomended, but your body will tell you.
I want to hear ACTUAL Experiences! :tt1:
Can you and HAVE you Drank since you got your Band?? & Have you felt any difference???

Hi Sue...that's actually not a bad idea...I guess this is all just gonna take some getting used to

Hi All:
So I'm 1 week post op and haven't told many people...so I want to start hanging out with my friends again and I'm wondering if it's okay to have a glass of wine so soon after surgery? In no way am I any sort of alchie but I just want to be able to be social again since all of my pre-op dieting is over....opinions?

Hi All:
So I am going in for my surgery on Friday and then I am on a "thin liquid" diet for 10 days. I have also done 10 days of pre-op. My packet says "anything that is able to fit through a straw is fine" so my question is does this include different kinds of Soups? Also I have been having sugar free Jello-O on my pre-op, would I be able to continue with these and some puddings? I'd like to get some groceries before hand just not sure what else to buy besides for the Protein Shakes? Help!
