  1. Happy 39th Birthday Sheeba!

  2. Happy 38th Birthday Sheeba!

  3. My husband was completely against me doing the surgery. He was angry that I made the decision despite his objections. 16 months later, he LOVES my thin body and agrees it was one of the best decisions ever ... although he blames me for his weight gain because he likes to finish my meals. :smile2:

I don't think I took the easy way out!

jllybean1982, I completely agree. I think I even thought I was kind of taking the easy way out when I decided to get banded. Boy was I wrong. People who choose to pass such judgement have NO CLUE what it's like to have to give up several favorite foods, not to mention HAVING to stop eating something absolutely delicious after only a few bites. It's a tough road, and definitely not easy! I have a few friends who are thin but would like to lose a few pounds. They love to tell me how much they wish they had a band to help them lose a little weight because I make it look easy. I am always happy to tell them that living with the band is HARD!!! Chin up. Remember you did this for you, not that jerk doctor or anyone else who judges you for it. What I always remind myself of is that if I could do it simply with diet and exercise, I wouldn't have gotten as heavy as I was. I NEEDED this tool.
  5. I can't eat french fries. They get stuck EVERY TIME!

    Less restriction AFTER first fill???

I felt fairly good restriction after I was first banded. I got my first fill 4 weeks later, and BAM!, no restriction. It took until my fifth fill to feel any kind of restriction again. My doc chalked up the initial restriction to post-op swelling.

    Stitch showing through incision/scar

My body just doesn't dissolve dissolvable stitches. Let me tell you, it was not a treat after having breast reduction surgery. Stitches were surfacing for months! As for lap band, I had stitches come out of all of my incisions. With mine they eventually worked their way to the surface and pulled right out. My doc said it's fairly common. As for swimming, don't let the stitch get in the way! Go have yourself a blast. It won't bother the stitch one bit.
