  1. I am 9 days out and I have had diarrhea all day I cannot leave my house. Even if I take a sip of Water,I have to go-fast!!! I talked to my Bariatric Nurse today and he suggested adding some mushed bananas to help thicken my stool but I forgot to ask him about any anti-diarrhea medications needless to say they are closed now and I am afraid to eat or drink anything because it all starts all over again-HELP!!! Is there anything I can take??? Pepto Bismol? Thanks!
  2. Hey Tiff! Everytime my husband is deployed over there he gets into this crazy workout routine and loses so much weight, in fact sometimes he just wants to deploy so he can get to the weight he wants to be (crazy huh?) But really I do think it just has something to do with all the males hormones running around over there, nothing to do with you at all. Let the boys be boys:tongue2:

    3 days post-op VSG

Thank you everyone for all your responses. The baby is doing just fine and without fever they had me bring him into PEDS right before my surgery to ease my mind. I am doing so much better today, each day seems to make a huge difference. I did have to go back in yesterday for an emergency CT Scan and blood work because my rate heart was extremely fast 140-147 range and I was also having cold sweats (I was drenched when I was sleeping) everything came back normal as far as the surgery part my surgeon just had to change my medication for hypertension add in a beta blocker and I am okay now. I was so scared though! I have been a little hungry, I find that the packet that comes with the ramen noodle Soups have been like heaven!!! I cannot wait to have mashed potatoes, but I am just so scared to do anything to these staples. So I just take it easy, I am a little confused on the clear to full liquids thing- I question everything, so I have pretty much still been on a clear liquid and drinking Isopure.
  4. Hi Everyone! I was sleeved this past Monday came home yesterday. I was having a lot of gas pains but most of that has went away now with moving around. I had an awful 2 days at the hospital mainly because I had so much fluid build up in my sides that I could not lay flat and that made getting my CT Scan very hard, when I laid down I could not breathe. Other then that all went well. I just had a question about the post-op diet, my surgeon said not to focus so much on getting the full 60 grams on Protein the first few days but rather on fluid intake. I have been sipping water -lots of it and I ate some sugar free jello and pudding. Also for lunch I had chicken noodle soup strained so just the broth. Anybody have any suggestions of other things that worked well for them? I tried the Carnation Instant Breakfast with no sugar and skim milk but I have irritable bowel syndrome and it made me so sick- I really did think I was going to die  So now comes the hard part of this journey the post-op diet! I will be anxiously awaiting all your replies! And for anyone wondering-I did get to keep nursing my 19 month old, he has slacked off a little and realized that he does not need mommy to fall back asleep at night and that it a wonderful thing:thumbup:
  5. Tiffany thanks so much for this post  I am up getting everything together in the house, I cannot sleep- I am so very nervous. I have so many mixed feelings it's crazy. I have read over every single thread on VSG to try and prepare myself. Today was horrible I sat in the ER with my 19 month old he had a fever of 103.7 and was vomiting-not what I need right now!!! The Dr. assured me it was viral and he would do just fine without me easier said then done for a baby that has never spent a day without his mom or even worse without the boobies:unsure: My surgery is scheduled for tomorrow at 2 p.m. please everyone keep me in your prayers. Thanks so much!!! xoxo
  6. Hi everyone, I am new to all of this, I just found out that I am having surgery on May 18. This all happened VERY quickly, I was just referred a little over a month ago by my primary care doctor had WLS orientation, Psych consult and nutrition consult. My surgeon is PCSing to a new base in June (I am having my surgery performed at a military hospital) he did my gall bladder surgery in 2006, and I absolutely adore him. He squeezed me into his schedule and here I am. I was so tore between the Lap band and the sleeve, I think I have finally decided to go with the sleeve, I have until Friday to let him know. My only concern is I have a 19 month old toddler that still nurses a lot, mostly for comfort I am sure because he eats and drinks everything! Does anyone know of or have any advice about continuing breastfeeding during any weight loss surgery? I told my surgeon and he assured me that everything would be fine, and he would get my big baby in my room to nurse just as soon as I am able. Also I I have 4 kids, ages 17,11,7, and 19 months. I know with the Lap band you go home pretty quickly and post-op recovery is pretty easy, how about with the sleeve? Thanks for reading my post and I can't wait to hear from you!

    Breastfeeding and VSG

Thank you all for such encouraging informantion, I am so stressed out I have even thought about calling the whole thing off, but I know that I have got have this done so I can be around for my children. I think the hardest part is just worrying about my baby boy being without me for a couple of days, we have never been apart for more then a few hours, never a night. Tiffykins, My surgeon is Dr. Stamp, I wish I could trade dates with you! I think I am going to go ahead and do the Sleeve. I wish you the best of luck with your revision.
