Hi phatty, I think the time of the month has something to do with tightness. It was about a week ago and three days before my periods I could not get anything down for the whole day. It slowly subsided after a few days. It was really hard to handle at times.. Just a thought..... Best wishes sarah

food finds! what are you eatin and LOVIN?!?!
jane73 replied to shellyj.'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I love all these ideas... I'm from Australia and unfortunetly we don't have half the sugar free goodies you guys have. Those SF fugicles or the SF jello puddings sound good. -
No, I don't think two weeks is too early. Especially if you are going to start to put on weight. Your in control of the band not the doctors or anyone else..Everybody is different... I felt unsure at the start especially when I kept on ringing the doctors office and changing my fill appointments for sooner. Now after 4 months and 4 fills later I think I have hit my sweet spot. Restriction is good and the scales are going down.. Just see how you go until your next fill appointment, but I'm sure if your anything like me you will be ready by two weeks.

Confused, Scared am I big enough??
jane73 replied to alcon's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I couldn't agree more with everyone...For me, I love the fact that I have to think about what I put in my mouth to eat because of the golfball feeling or the eating too fast problem. It has really helped me slow down my eating. My BMI was 34 to start with and my surgeon said that it was only a matter of time before my BMI would end up to 40 so he agreed and I haven't looked back. -
Just think, you will have the last laugh!!! Like the other posts have stated they are only jealous and very narrowminded. I can imagined how you felt at the time, but don't waste anymore of your precious time thinking about those nasty people. You've made the right decision on being banded. :grouphug:

Yes, well all I can say is get away from her, she is bad news..She doesn't care for you, all she is interested in is a good time. She prefers men over women and I personally don't trust women like that . I think she sounds nasty and very self centred. You want a friend that you can trust..You can do better..Move and find a new circle of friends.

serious depression :( enter at your own risk
jane73 replied to waterlily1072's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dear Waterlily1072, I'm so sorry your feeling this way. I too suffer from depression and only because of the medication do I feel sane. I have two girls to look after and sometimes I feel like I'm not a good mother. Putting so much pressure on yourself is wearing you down emotionally and phsically. You need to think logically about things. Okay, so your weight loss is slow but your on track - that's great. It's probebly better than if you didn't have the band. My doctor informed me this is a 2 year process...2 YEARS OMG!!!!!!I didn't really want to hear that. I thought in 6 - 9 months I'll be 60kg... I don't think so...Each day is a struggle for me.... Tommorrow wake up and do one thing at a time. Take a shower, have a healthy Breakfast and keep telling yourself that "today I will take better care of myself ". A dirty house doesn't make you feel good but it's not the end of the world. Pick one room and start cleaning. Just clean one room a day, so your not overwhelmed by the whole process. Keep telling yourself it's going to get better, I can't feel any worse. Your beauty course needs to be put on hold. I'm sure if you told them the truth they would understand. Remember, your the only one that can get you out of this rut. I hope your days ahead will be more positive. I'm sure taking your meds will help tremendously to keep your moods more stabilsed. Hugs to you.. -
What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
jane73 replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have just had my 3rd fill of .5 and really feel nothing...Total now is 2.5cc in a 4cc band. The only time I feel restriction is if I eat bread/toast or eat too fast. It's not really restriction it's just getting stuck..I can eat too much and it's starting to dishearten me again. :tired -
Great post GayleTX I will definately try the Protein first rule. My Surgeon advised me you cannot stretch your pouch until you get a fill. If the fill is too tight is when you can stretch the pouch. Alot of people on this site talk about Protein shakes after being banded. Do they fill you up? I was told to stay away from liquid foods as they go straight through the band and don't keep you full. Who Still Drinks Caffeine In The Morning??
jane73 replied to ItsGottaGo!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I love my coffee too. The mornings wouldn't be the same without a coffee. That's one thing I really look forward too. Sometimes during the day if I feel and little hungry I have a milky coffee and it hits the spot and curbs the hunger.. -
What a nightmare!!! Mothers really do know best..Hope that is all a thing of the past. Best Wishes. Sarah

Change is hard . I know myself, I really hate change. Just try and stay positive about what lies ahead. Keep things in perspective and try not to worry about things that might not even happen.. You have 2 big things in your life at the moment that needs your focus..Don't beat yourself up about not being at a certain weight by a certain date. So what, if the scales are going down slowly that's all that counts. Take care and try and stay positive.

Thanks tolmc and jojo41 for your replies. Your both right. Slow and steady wins the race. Just getting a little impatient...I will wait until end of September to get another fill. Yesterday I pigged out and today I feel I have good restriction or maybe my tummy is still full from last night's raid in the biscuit tin lol!!! It's so up and down at the beginning, it's hard to know where you are sometimes... Thanks again Sarah

Hi everyone.. My name is Sarah and I'm from Perth, WA. Ive been banded since July 11th 06 and have lost approximately 5kgs. I have had 2 fills so far and don't feel much restriction at all. Getting quiet impatient having to wait inbetween fills (4 weeks) because I really want to be slimmmer this summer and feel time is running out before the hot weather starts. I am definately eating too much and making a few bad choices along the way..I just have to keep positive and keep reminding myself why I am here in the first place. Can anyone tell me how long they had to wait inbetween fills? I really want to ring Dr and make an appointment earlier as the 26th Sept is too long away.

Hi girls, I too want to have baby # 3 someday soon. I am 9 weeks post op and only now am I slowly seeing results. My Dr in Oz said I need to wait a minimum of 3 months before trying for a child. I think it's a little early but he seemed to think it was long enough to wait. I have approximately 60lbs/30kgs to lose and would like to lose at least half before trying. I definately don't want to be overweight and pregnant again. Been there, done that!! TOO HARD..

I am so sorry to hear your pain. Your brothers need to be put back into place. Either tell them face to face or write them a letter how this makes you feel. Family is suppose to stick together through thick and thin (pardon the pun...) and support each other in difficult times. I would definetly limit my time around them. Sooner or later, if they cherish you like a sister they will stop saying those cruel words to you. Be Strong... Sarah

Inamed ... How many fills?
jane73 replied to antivicky's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hi Everyone, I rang up the Doctors office today and requested a fill earlier than the 7th Sept and low and behold, I got in this afternoon...The assistant doctor put .5cc into the band. Total now of 2.0cc. Everything went smoothly (thank goodness). Had a greek salad tonight for dinner and actually felt like I had a bit of restriction. What a great feeling!!!!!!Let's hope I don't need anything else to eat before bed. LOL Thought I'd share my 2nd fill experience. Cheers Sarah -
Inamed ... How many fills?
jane73 replied to antivicky's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was banded in Perth, Western Australia. I have a 4.5cc band and my 1st fill of 1.5cc and feel no restriction. My Doc lets me eat solids straight away. No liquid/mushie stage...It's very interesting to read that most Drs in the USA make patients go on liquid/mushie for 2 days after. To date I have only lost 3.8kg and slowly going up again. My next appointment is on the 7th Sept for my 2nd fill, and hopefully this time I will feel fullness. Regards Sarah -
Hey Aussie chick, Your tummy looks gorgeous. I can't get over the difference in your last photo posted...Inspirational....You have definately motivated me.. Thankyou for sharing your story.. Sarah {(*..*)}

Hi Kiana38, I'm really sorry to hear that you are feeling low, its not a nice place to be...I too felt sad and low after surgery, especially not being able to eat what I wanted anymore. It's amazing all the different emotions you feel, but I really think that I was going through a learning curve that we all must take once being banded. It's pretty daunting to actually think that we no long are our former selves...I think you have made the right decision to turn your life around and become a more healthier person. Please just try and think of all the positives as to why you made this decision in the first place. I love reading all the lap band before and after stories. It always gives me hope and reassurance that it's going to be me one day on those pages...I hope your feeling better and if not, go and see your surgeon or GP. Regards Sarah

Does Lap-Band help with emotional eating?
jane73 replied to SarahinTyler's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, well, well. This is exactly where i'm at right at this minute. I'm an emotional eater too and just 21/2 weeks post op and going through the liquid mushie stage and finding it really really difficult mentally. I haven't had a fill as yet, but looking forward to it immensley. Sometimes, I just cry cause I don't know what else to do. Don't get me wrong, I'm really happy with my decision, but it's harder than I ever imagined. My DH and mum are there for me, but they still don't know what I am really going through. It's tougher than tough, I'm going to fight these thoughts and hopefully it will make me a stronger more happier person in the long run. I hope this has helped. Everyone is different, but we all have a common goal.
