    Starting my journey

You go gurl!! I know you will succeed as I will too. Can you answer this for me? I am still not 100% on the lap band or gastric Bypass. I know that this is a decision I have to make for myself. but can you tell me why you opted for the lap band and not the other? and why was UC davis so against the lap band? I told myself I would concentrate fully on getting rid of the 10% weight loss before worrying to much on which procedure to do. But I really would like to know more from other peoples opinions. Thanks
  3. Cool- maybe we can get together sometime. Which are in EG?

Wow! good to hear there are many elkgrovians here! I was thinking about joining some type of aquatic class or dance class at the center on Bruceville Rd are any of the EG ladies down for that? Also this question is for anyone who has the answer..where is the Sacramento group support meeting held???? and what is the time??? I know it's the last saturday of the month but that's about all I know. Please help... Thanks Also..I am having a hell of a time figuring out what the heck to eat!!! Welcome any suggestions? I was going to make the family.. turkey meatloaf with green beans and mashed potatoes for dinner tonight (of course I wont be eating the mashed potatoes grrrr!!) I was going to have a 1/2 baked potato. I'm weighing everything sticking to my 3oz of protien etc., but I just cant get creative enough. The most challenging part is dessert!!! is it ok to eat Kraft sugar free jello pudding? I think it's only 60 calories per serving or should I just say bye bye to all desserts. I get soooo frustrated!!! sorry guys I'm just venting!!! Dessert is my weakness.

That's what I do, but again you guys are post op it might be different. But I hope you still can because I love my water with a lemon slice in it. Tina & Candra- I speak fluent Spanish I can help with anything you get stuck on. You'll love speaking spanish, I myself would love to learn French. Riley- Thanks for the warm welcome! I live in Elk Grove about 15 minutes from Sacramento. Anyone here from Elk Grove? I am looking forward to meeting Dr Baggs, I actually didn't choose him he was assigned to me. However, I was hoping to get him becuase of all the positive things I heard about him. Maaan! I can't imaging being "thin" I see you all and that is just amazing to me. I am very excited and petrofied all at the same time. How will people see me? how will I see myself? I know one thing I know it will be the BEST feeling ever to be able to be more active and feel more confident. Especailly job hunting..I was laid off recently and havent had luck finding a new job.

ohhh what the heck was her name?? a very small gal..but the doctor was Dr Park she was great and I loved the slideshow. I was bummed, my husband missed that part because he had to sit out with our son in the lobby. We had to take him last minute. It was a long meeting but gained a lot from it.

Hi there this is Maria (the newbie) I wanted to let you all know that I went to my orientation yesterday in Richmond and I have my 1st appt with Dr Baggs on July 10. I am so excited and was interested in joining one of the support meetings in Sacramento, Do you know when and where is the next one? Also, I am accepting any words of support and encouragement right about now as I am starting the 10% weight loss I need to have by my 1st visit with the Doctor. It is the hardest thing I ever done, but I am cutting everything the sweets, alcohol, carbs!! I'm sure you all feel me,since youve been there done that..
  11. Hi there- Not sure if I told you but I have a orientation in Richmond on Tuesday. I am so excited and nervous..the more I read on it the more mixed I feel. I know this is to be taken very serious which is why I am so confused on my decission. I just pray everyday that I can somehow be reassured that this best for me. Anyway How are you doing? How have you been feeling?

  14. Hi- I am very new and have an orientation date scheduled, so at this point I am gettin as much info as I can; How soon after surgery did you get the tt and lipo etc., and what is the typical cost for this? I live in California. I know that after my weight loss there will be A LOT of skin sagging, I am very afraid of that.
  15. Hi there! I am considering getting either the lap band or Gastric bypass surgery. My doctor just sent the referal yesterday. I am 37 years old and have a load of health problems due to my weight. This is my deal; I have Diabetes, Cholestorol, knee and ankle problems and I have polycstic ovaries which prevent me from ovulating monthly thus having only one child (very thankful for him) I am mostly doing this for my health and energy level basically my quality of life. I dont expect to jump into a swimsuit anytime soon as I know I will have lots of extra sagging (not looking forward to that) Based on what I have been reading I may just opt for the lap band it doesnt sound so invasive. Please bear with me as I have LOTS of questions and have never participated in a forum; Here are my questions to you: :mad2: Lap band VS Bypas surgery ? What is a FILL? How soon did you hear from the Richmond location after the dr referal? How long b4 your surgery was actually scheduled? what are the regrets if any, you had after the surgery? any suggestions on things you should have considered before the surgery? How was Kaiser, were they sensitive to this issue? Did you go to many appointments, I live in Sacramento so I'm concerned about that Did anyone have marriage problems after? I'm afraid because I have always been chunky and my husband met me this way and my son loves me this way too (just not being so unhealthy) he says, I feel like a comfy pillow. I asked my husband how he will feel about this frastic change but he said whatever I need to do to get healthy because he is also concerned. and I know my son would rather I be healthy than always have aches and pains becuase he worrys about losing his mommy. Please HELP ! sorry for the long post but I have many questions and would like the honest truth not from a Doctor who hasnt experienced it.
  16. Thanks for all the info...I did go on Richmond Kaiser very cool. I love knowing there is local support I can go to. Can I attend your meeting on I think was May 22?? Anyway, I recieved my orientation date yesterday I didnt expect it to be so quick. I am so excited! It's at 7:30 AM! on May 26. I plan to drive myself, if my husband can't get the day off. How is the drive? I was thinking of leaving at 5:30 am from Elk Grove. Is that adequate time? I am sooooo excited I am ready to be at a normal weight! my family is very excited too. I am always in pain either spraining my knee, ankle I am just a complete mess I know it's becuase of my weight, I am weighing 256 and I'm 5'2. I hope this helps me!!! I have so many mixed feelings about this decission but more and more I feel it's best for me.
