Does it hurt to get a fill?

It feels like it does when you have your blood drawn. I get my fills done under floro but I don't look. I usually put my hands over my eyes that way I don't panic about he size of the needle. It helps me. My doctor had gotten it on the first try (thank god)

    Road Trip

Well it depends on what you can eat. I can eat salads so McDonald's grilled chicken bacon ranch or cescar salad is really good. For breakfast what about a Protein shake or slim fast For Snacks fruit or Jello For lunch grilled chicken sandwich without the bread or salad. Wendy's have chilli Don't forget Soups also or mash potatoes It's a lot things to get you have to make the right choices with foods you can eat. I only eat a piece of bread. No a hole sandwich or biscuit. I have to protect my 15000.00 investments

Self-payers, how long did the process take

When you are self pay, you don't have to wait as long. Physicians love self pay patients. They know they are getting there money up front and they put you in the next available date they have. As long as your medical problems are not too severe
  5. I would say you just need to limit the sweets. Because you love them as I do you will have to take a firm hold of this addiction. Monitor how many times a week you eat something sweet. Try to limit it to once a week and then just have half the the sweet item. Continue to excerise and that will help burn that half of cake that you may have eaten. I know it is hard because I am struggling myself especially with Halloweeen here. A Recap 1. Something sweet once a week 2. Half the portion 3. Continue to exercise See how that does

    needing some advise

I think you should have some fluid taken out. You have given it 25 days and you are unable to eat solid protein. Maybe take out .2 - .3 cc and see how it works. Also make sure the chicken is not too dry. And call your physician and see what he thinks. But remember the band wasn't made so that you could eat soft food all the time

    slipped bands experiences

Tutuclvr I am so sorry for your experience but I glad everything is better. Thank God you have such good after care in the US. Sounds like you have a very good doctor for after care. You know because this surgery is new in the US (since 2001 or sometime around there) everyone has not seen everything that could possiblity happen. It is up to us to be observe what is going on and notify the MD as soon as possible and to stay on the MD if he is not that worried.

    I'm a bad bandster-a badster!

I think you need counseling. A fill won't make it better. It will just make you sick because you will still try to eat everything you did pre-band. You have to decide if you want to lose weight before anything will help. The band won't help you unless you help the band with healthy food choices.
  9. I think you should tell them you need time off for surgery. And tell them its a personal matter and would rather not talk about the details (although they may think you have cancer). You may need more than the weekend off after surgery. Some can go back to work after a couple of days but not everyone. If you have to life a child or anything above 10lbs then that will be a problems. I am 3 weeks out and I still don't lift my 45lbs 4 y/o yet. But do tell them you are having surgery and put it in a way as not to say too much about what type of surgery it is. I am still in the closet and only 3 people know about it. Not even my best friends know about it. I am just not ready to disclose that information and am not sure if I will ever be able to disclose that type of information. This is a personal matter and war I am trying to fight

    Post-Op Pain Question

Yes this is normal. Continue to take your pain medication. Put a ice pack on the port site. Also if you are trying to sleep on your side and it hurts then don't and sleep up right. My port site was really sore and I am still trying to sleep on my sides (left or right). I have found that this surgery affects everyone different. As long as your inicisions don't look infected (hot to touch, swelling with drainage) they are doing okay.
  12. I had my gallbladder out before banding. I thought it was a piece of cake compared to banding. I did take a week off and enjoyed myself. I was thinking this is how housewives must feel. I had my surgery on a Friday and took the next week off. I took the baby to daycare everyday and lounge around the house until it was time to pick her up.

    I Need Help....

I had surgery on Wednesday and was schedule to go back to work on that Monday. The surgery was painful then I thought it would be so I took 2 more days off and went back on Wednesday. It I needed to I probably could have went back but I just decided I needed more time. I had a hard time sleeping and had to sleep the first 4 days in the recliner. The extra two days gave me some time to just work around the house and walk around the stores. This help me gauge how I would do at work. On Wednesday I did perfectly. I set my own schedule so if I didn't feel well I could have left at anytime. Right now I get tired easily and must go to be way eariler then I did before surgery

Great job on your weight loss. Just remember to chew well......but you probably already know that by now:)

    No more adjustments

I think we need to remember that we still must eat healthy. I don't care what type of surgery you have......you still need to eat healthy. I have been banded for 2 weeks and have lost 15lbs. My doctor does fills 2 months, 4 months, and 7 months. I guess if you wanted more you could get (although didn't asked that question) Right now they want me to heal then they will begin the fill process. During my consultation he said that we would go slow. Right now I am liking that idea. I don't want to risk any complications if I can help it. Also I don't want to live eating 3 bits of food. During this two month peroid (actually less then two months) until my first fill, I will be eating healthy, watching my portions, and exercising. I need to change my eating habits. I need to do it for a lifetime. I tell me all the time people who are a size 2 - 4 are not eating.
  16. My doctor recommend WW or the South Beach diet phase III after banding because it is healthier. Not sure if i will try but we will see. I have only been banded for 1 week

    September Bandsters

I had my surgery on Sept 6. I was uncomfortable for first few days. I still can't sleep while. I have moved from the recliner now I am just sleeping sitting up in my bed. It is too painful to sleep on my rt side. I just went back to work today. I did a full day. I just wasn't able to go back Monday. I probably could have made it but why rush it. I took Monday and Tuesday to begin to move around more, driving, and getting ready for a full day of work. My port site is still sore. But the doctor's office said that to be expected.

    Newly Banded

Hi everyone. I was banded 9/6/06. I have been doing okay. I was just hoping that I would be doing better. Today is post op day 3. Post op day 1, I was so nausated. I had to take 2 50mg Phenergan supp. Post op day 2, I was in so much pain. The doctor put my port right under my left breast. I am having terrible pain from it. I have used a ice pack and it helps some. I wished he had put it lower. I know I won't be able to wear a bra for a while. Today is a little better. Right now I need a pain pill. I am walking 5min every 2 hours per instructions. What I am not doing is drinking or taking enough Protein. My stomach feels funny so I am scared to put anything on it. Last night I slept on my right side for half the night and the other half in the recliner. I am so tired of the recliner. I thought I was gonna be able to go back to work on Monday but it doesn't seem like that will happen. This port pain is terrible. My mom says this guy at the surgery center says he went fishing the next day after surgery. I barely could move on post op day 2. I know everyone is different. I think if the doctor had put the port lower I would be feeling better. My big left breast keeps pressing on my port. Most of the time I am walking around holding my left breast or I have a pillow under it to keep it off the port. :angry

    Newly Banded

Thanks gilbert and paula for replying. I am trying to do better with the fluids. It is just hard right now. My stomach has a lot of gas and I don't want to over do it. The nauseaness is gone now. I just need to focus on getting better and getting my fluids in.
  21. The time frame will depend on the Cardiologist and what is found when you have your Cardiac Cath. Hopefully it will be nothing too serious maybe just need angioplasty or stents. Keep in mind that you may need major open heart surgery depending on what is found (which arteries maybe block and how much blockage and about many are block) Good luck and prayers going out

    Open vs Closet Bander Questions

I am pre-banded also. I will be a closet bandster. I am not ready to tell people about my getting the band. I have told only 3 people, my mom and 2 close male friends. One told me he didn't know my weight was an issue because it is not an issue to him (that was nice to know). Everyone else thinks I am having fibroids removed. I am not sure if I will tell anyone else ever (unless I have to). I have a hard time opening up to people and this is a very private matter for me. Right now I don't want to have to anwser questions about my weight or my decision to have WLS.

    Surgery Cancelled

My surgery date was August 7, 2006 but now it is cancelled.:cry I got a call on Friday morning at 11am stating the doctor was not feeling well. They are gonna try to reschedule my surgery but they don't know when. Maybe August 10 or 11, or maybe August 28, 2006. I am so disappointed. I finally came to turns with the surgery and now this. I am self pay so I have paid the surgeron and just this morning I went and got the cashier's check for the surgery center. Now no surgery date. I have a $9200.00 cashier's check made out to the surgery center and I don't even no when or if I will get to have the surgery. I made all the arrangements for work and now this. I am on call 24 hours a day Monday thur Friday and every 3rd weekend so this has really messed my schedule up. I don't know if I will be able to find some to cover for me because they may have vacations planned. I am also on schedule to be on call the Labor Day Weekend :cry . I will have to wait until Monday to find out when they will be able to do surgery. I know they couldn't help this but I just had everything in place for Mondayk. Plus I have travel plans to Las Vegas on September 28, 2006 and I was hoping to be healed and eating by then:mad: So now I must wait on the surgeon's office to call and let me know if it will be August 10 or 11 or August 28. If it is August 28 I will have to make a decision to have or not to have.

    Surgery Cancelled

K@t I don't think you understand. My surgery has been cancelled twice. If your surgery was cancelled twice in 1 week you would feel the same. It is natural to question things when you are all ready then you are told no we have to wait another month. Everyone has doubt about having surgery. It not like people just like to be cut on everyday. Doubt will creep in your mind when you are cancelled not once but twice. I have made up my mind about this surgery. To pay $15000.00 for this surgery you have to be mentally prepared but doubt will have creep up if things continue to happen to make you have doubt.
