I was born a poor black child....no, that's from "The Jerk" with Steve Martin. I was born a poor fat child.  i remember being 'sick' as a kid about 12 years old and once mom went to work, the cookie jar was open.  I didn't meet a food I didn't like (liver excepted) and my normal portion size was "MORE" no matter what.Fast Forward 10 years and the bar was open, then the fast food restaurant, buffet, etc.  I've been big and trying to loose weight forever.  Never picked first for gym, never wanting to be 'skins' in gym...getting the picture gym was no fun for me?  Nothing like being laughed at during that akward dating age..forget that I was a closet case and couldn't ask a guy out anyway.  Talk about issues!Fast Forward another 10 years. I'm a trained Chef!!! Wow now my addiction is my life.  Perfect!  Actually I finally became physically active during this time period, and lost quiet a bit of weight by playing paintball and snowboarding. Also living in Vermont the options for dining out were pretty slim, so it was easy to force a box of Lean Cusine down my throat and do good things.  Eat less and exercise works...trouble is eat less sucks.  But I did loose enough to feel good about me and move to Boston to get a better job and to date, find a partner, settle down, etc (towards the end of this 10 year segment)Now...I'm 44 and have been in Boston for 10 years.  The first 4 were great, dating, partying, dinner dates, partying, beer, dates, beer.....Oh crap...I'm fat again.  Of course I now also have a partner which makes it easier, but I'm not happy and WOW, now I've got high blood pressure, sleep apnea, diabetes, and I'm fat.  All those meds mean Mr. Happy isn't working too good, and since I'm fat already my partner is not too happy with me.Finally I have done the testing, seen the Dr's and my surgery date is going to be set next Tuesday.  YAY!!!!!
