    Stomach gurgling

I just had my Gastric Sleeve on May 26th, I have trouble telling when I'm hungry or not too. I had the Lap Band for the last 7 yrs but switched to the sleeve as the band was annoying and I could feel it bulging from my stomach, and exercising I couldn't do things that had to do with my mid section cause It would start to hurt. So I decided to switch to the sleeve, What is getting to me now is all the gurgling lol. Night when i'm sleeping it wakes me up and I'm wondering how long this goes on for. Could be embarrassing at the wrong moments, Job interview and body gets noisy or in church ect. Will this be something that will continue like this for my life, or will it ease up after awhile? Just want to know what to expect lol.

Discouraged About What They Want Me To Eat!

I eat high proteins and low carbs. veggies are important carbs, and the only things i don't eat are Rice, Peanuts (other kinds of nuts are fine), Corn, Bread unless its toasted (and not all the time), and nothing with carbonation as carbonation stretches the stomach (this is what my dietitian told me not to ever eat again, as they could clog over the small opening of the stomach). Other then that i eat small portions,. I also watch my sodium as it makes me swell up. I was never told to only eat crunchy foods, I started with soft foods in the beginning, and slowly added other things. I stay away from chips and candy of course but do eat fiber bars to cure my chocolate craving, It's all in how things are prepared and the portions, and exercise of course. You need small amounts of healthy fat such as Avocado's (sparingly) as you need some fat to lose fat. Don't give up, you will be glad you stuck it out. Remember small portions, chew it well and enjoy it. don't eat to fast, and drink plenty of water between meals not while your eating though as you want the food to fill you so your not hungry and snacking in between meals, the water/fluid will keep you satisfied between meals. If my dietitian told me that i would of lied to, to get my band fill lol. Good Luck!
  4. Recovery is pretty fast actually, I had my surgery in Detroit and live in SF bay area, I flew there and stayed 1 day after surgery then flew home next day. Its really easy just had to have lap pillow to put between me and the seat belt. as far as throwing up, its been 3 yrs in April since my surgery and i have not thrown up once, with me it goes other end and feel sick but only for a little bit till i'm done with the dumping. However everyone is different. I know my best friend had Gastric Bypass (not lapband) over a yr ago and she is like me has not thrown up once. When your band is to tight, if you eat to big a bite it will feel like it is stuck, when this happens i have to stand up, Take a deep breath and hold it, so i expand the opening a little so it can fall in (I get hickups when its to tight and eat to fast or to big of a bite). Everyone is different in how much they lose and how fast, depends on if your eating right, getting exercise, drinking enough Water ect. Once you are ready to start introducing normal foods again, I was told and have not eaten any Rice, Peanuts (but other nuts are fine) Corn, or bread unless toasted. No Carbonated beverages of any kind. Rice, Peanuts and bread can clog over the opening of the stomach as they mash up together, Corn can also block the hole as the skin doesn't really break down. Carbonation stretches the stomach making it easier to eat more and regain your weight. Hope this helps. and Good Luck with your Surgery and your Weight Loss!
  5. Good Luck on both the Lapband and Knee Surgerie. I had my surgery for Lapband almost 3 yrs ago and with the weight i lost am walking better, I will need both Knee and HIp replacements down the road from bones deteriorating due to both RA and Osteo Arthritis, knee cap is floating and locks as well and hips lock up if i walk to much, so i understand. I do push the walking as much as i can in hopes to push back the surgeries as far as possible. Don't be discouraged, You will do fine and losing the weight does help on the knees, before my surgery i couldn't stand more then 5 minutes without knees and hips forcing me to sit, now i can walk to the store and back, sometimes i have to take a break and sometimes it doesn't bother me at all. Again Good Luck!

    Not Losing The Weight :(

Hello Pink, I had my surgery in April 09 and had lost 100 pounds and now find myself bouncing from an 80 -100 pound loss. Part of my problem is the sodium in the foods. If you have an issue with this try sodium substitute. Exercise is also a factor, if your not getting enough it won't come off. I had trouble exercising and at times still do from my different forms of Arthritis, So i have a pedometer and try to walk as much as possible, Even if its just around my complex to get in enough exercise. Hope this helps. I know how hard it can be. Good Luck in your future weight loss and a healthier you. btyboop58

  8. Hello.. :) ok I can't believe it but I have lost 28 pounds now.. I had my first fill last Thursday. it was strange lol.. they started at 5 cc's but the water came right but up on me and then they dropped it twice before it was ok.. so I have 2 cc's .. How are you doing?

  9. Wow your doing good too. Congrats on the 17.5 pounds. Ya don't worry about the adjustment its so easy and quick. I was worried after reading all the stories from some of the people but if you have a good dr. It shouldn't be anything to worry about at all.

  10. Nice.. I go in a little under four weeks for my first udjustment.. I am a little nervous since I am sensitve.. I will most likely do liquids for a lil longer than they suggest and sort of start over just in case... I am excited for you.. I have lost 17.5 pounds so far

    My first fill

I had my first fill yesterday, I was surprised how quick it went and i had no pain at all, just a little stick from the needle to numb the area He added 3cc to start and there was already 4cc's in there. This isnt the dr. that did the Surgery, But i was lucky to get him to take over my case for the fills, Since i flew out of state to have the surgery done. I wish i had found him before my surgery but looked in my area and couldn't find anyone that took Medicare. Anyway He said it is very rare he wil except another Dr's patient, but under the circumstances he would take mine.

    She had to have surgery...

Good come backs Band_Groupie, I also see her rude remarks and a lack of self exteme, Maybe she is not willing to do what it takes in the long run , and if she falls into the same yo you syndrom as alot of us do. It will catch up with her later, I lost 96 pounds on my own but did gain it all back plus alot more. so doing it on her own doesnt mean she is any better that you, because you got the help to get where you want to be. you chose to have the surgery to get the results you want, Which shows you are determined to do what it takes. Keep up the good work and don't pay any attention to her. After all she doesnt matter, You Do!!!
