I SO want to eat MORE!

I think my head will catch up with my stomach when I weight about 100 lbs !! (never happen).... so for now each night the last thing I think about before I fall asleep, and I run it over and over in my head is that I can only eat 1/2 cup and my stomach is so small that it is enough! I wake up thinking that same thought! I am sure it's all in my head but whatever works to get me through the day. :tongue2:

How did it feel after your first fill

Right now I can eat anything I want. Before my fill I was still on mushies so this was a big step!! Tonight I had 2 slices of roasted turkey with a little gravy and green beans. It tasted really good andI got full faster. At first I was afraid to swallow, I made sure I chewed until there was almost nothing left to swallow!

How did it feel after your first fill

Yeah glad to hear all went well with your first fill! I had my first fill Monday (3cc) and I can feel food and liquids going down now, and I feel fuller when I am finished eating. I can go 4 to 4-1/2 hrs between meals now. I didn't feel any pain at all. Are you on liquids for a day? It help me get comfortable with the tighter fit. :tongue2:

    Who measures food?

I measure everything when I am at home. When I eat in a restaurant I try to judge 1/2 cup but then I stress that I ate too much. I want to start bringing a measuring cup with me !! lol :tongue2:

    Day OF and AFTER surgery?

My surgery was at 10:30 AM and I was home by 3:00 PM. Took a nap when I got home, read a little bit. I didn't have any pain just a little discomfort when I got up and down. I had mild gas which I felt in my left breast, and by the next afternoon I went to work. Good Luck to you and stay on your liquids!! I know it's hard but you will have less problems if you follow your DRs. instructions. :tongue2:

    Does burping hurt?

I had a serious bout of constipation last week. I spoke to my Nut about it and she explained that our bowels are used to getting full and then voiding and depending on how much you eat (or ate) determined how frequently you went. Now we aren't eating that much so our body holds onto anything in there and causes us problems. She told me to take Colace, drink my water/liquids and walk and it should even out. I HOPE, I thought I was going to end up in the ER for relief!! lol

    Does burping hurt?

Burping doesn't hurt for me, but I can't controll them so it can happen at the worst times, my DH understand but other who don't know I am banded kind of look at me funny, because they are long and I'm not very quiet!! :smile2:
  10. That must be the best feeling in the world!! I haven't gotten anything new yet but my old clothes fit better with 25 lbs off. I can't wait for winter shopping in smaller sizes!! Keep up the good work!
  11. I had my first fill today! DRs put in 4 cc's at first but when I tried to drink the Water it just kept bubbling up in my throat so he removed 1cc and all is well! On full liquids for 24 hrs, mushies for another 24 hours then pretty much anything I want as long as it's a smart choice! I am so excited! It's the moment I have been waiting for since I decided to have lap band surgery!!

    First Fill Today Yippee!

I wasn't given any instructions on eating the day of a fill but I had my lunch at 12:30pm and then nothing after that, my fill was at 4:30pm. After I am on liquids for 24 hrs and mushies for 24 hrs.

    First Fill Today Yippee!

Thanks! I felt pretty good before the fill. I wasn't hungry most of the time and the few times I was I was able to control it. I can see how it would get harder and harder not to eat when you're hungry so I am glad I got the fill. I was at the soft solid food stage and able to eat anything without a problem. I was lucky I didn't have problems with anything I ate. Good luck with yours!! ___________________ I am 5-1/2 weeks post op and 25lbs down !!
  14. I had my first fill today and I didn't get numbed. I didn't even feel the pinch when they inserted the needle, I only felt the pressure of him pushing it in, but it didn't hurt at all.

what can i do to feel better?

I would call your DR. and let them know how you are feeling maybe you need more taken out until you heal. Are you chewing your food enough before you swallow? Sometimes If I don't or I eat to fast I get a feeling of indigestion, but it passes pretty quickly. Try not to get discouraged, the lap band will work if you give it time. Eventually you will be able to eat a lot of the same foods you ate before, but in smaller portions

    Mushies/bandster hell

I can have 1/2 cup of food for each meal. I have mostly protein; tuna, egg salad, ground beef, ground chicken, cottage cheese, etc for most of the meal with just a taste of either potato and veggie or some kind of carb. I am able to stay pretty full for 3 to 4 hours. If I eat mostly carbs for a meal I find I am hungry much quicker. Good luck!

    severe bruising...

I had very minor bruising at each incision. I didn't have any other unusual bruises, but I was fully awake when I went into the OR and I remember just before they put me to sleep the nurses were strapping me to the table, there was a buckle going over my left hip, maybe something like that happened and you bruised because of it.

    Too Impatient

Glad to hear your surgery went well! You will start to lose soon, follow whatever your Drs. plan for you is. They know what works best for you for the healing phase and then moving forward. Try not to get discouraged when the fat doesn't magically melt away while you sleep!! It will start to happen soon, and each lb. down will give you a kick in the pants to keep going! Good luck!
  19. Hi, I was banded 6/25/09 and I'm down 24 lbs. When I was banded I had "NO" expectations of what my weight loss would be. I heard it would be a slow process with lots of hard work. I am hoping for the 1 lb a week that is average and anything above that is a gift and gives me more hope for the next week. I felt that if I expected lots of weight to fall off fast I would get discouraged when it didn't happen, and I would fail my band not my band failing me. So far I have only had a few really hungry days and have been able to work throught them. Eating at the same time every day does helps a lot. Staying positive even when the fat isn't melting away keeps me on track. Good luck !:)

    What made you do it.

I can relate to not wanting your piture taken. My DH is an amature photographer so there is always a camera around. We have lot of pictures of the grandkids, but none of us with them. I feel that once we are gone they will have their memories of us, but no pictures to spark that special memory of what we were doing when it was taken. Another 25 lbs off and I'll be in every picture!! lol My Mom didn't have an "overweight" problem in fact her average weight was 75-79 lbs and she was 4' 11'. She died at 52 from cancer. She never wanted her picture taken beause she was so skinny. I have one picture of her before she died and one wedding picture. It's sad, my children never knew her.

    What made you do it.

My heart goes out to you. At least your Mom's death wasn't totally in vain, it opened your eyes and it turned your life around. I had my surgery because I was having so much trouble breathing and just couldn't get out of my own way. Everything hurt, knees, hip, feet. OMG! My feet hurt every step I took. I am 5 weeks post op, 24 lbs down and feeling pretty good. Hugs, G'Ma
  22. My Dr. is ok with Crystal Lite, and any non-caffinated liquid counting towards my 64 oz. I usually have more Water because the sweetness gets to me. I will push my self to drink more, but I have to do it as early as possible or I am up during the night for the bathroom. I generally get enough Protein, mostly in food and but if not I have a Protein shake. I have a DRs. appt. Monday so I will ask about the Benefiber, that may be what I need. Thanks again,
  23. Thanks Restless Monkey. After I posted the message I thought the same thing and called. I was seriously one step away from the emergency room! They told me what to do and I finally got relief. (TMI to share on here) lol  I still have trouble getting in 64oz of liquid but I get at least 50 oz a day of Water and crystal lite. I am on soft soilds so I eat cottage cheese and yogurt and dairy products usually help me ward off constipation but not this time. Do I have to worry about this being a problem all the time or does it even out? Thanks for your post.
