  1. Hi, I was banded 6/25/09...close enough to 6/30!! I have been doing well and hope everyone else is too. With my last fill I am finally feeling restriction, it has been about 6 weeks since that fill and I cancelled my appointment last week for another one. I am able to go about 4 hrs between meals and I am not feeling the head hunger like I was in the beginning. Only 2 lbs away from one-der-land and I can't wait!! What a milestone that will be. I know there are people in "band land" that aren't having the success they were hoping for, but I feel that my band has saved my life, and given me added years. I feel great!! I can walk without stopping every few feet gasping for air, the pain in my joins is almost gone and when I get out of bed in the morning I don't almost fall to the floor because the weight on my feet causes so much pain I can't stand it. The weight is coming off slow and steady but I am ok with that. I didn't put it on overnight and I don't expect it to come off overnight either. I try to be realistic about my weight, and my band, it is what it is....a tool, not a magic cure all. Thanks for listening....and I wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving. It is my first major holiday since surgery and IT WILL BE HARD because of all those warm and cozy comfort foods, but I will try to remember how bad I felt 6 months ago and be as strong as I can. Hugs to all, G' Ma
  2. I am struggling to get in my 70gr of protein everyday in my three 1/2 cup meals (and two 2 oz snacks). It seems like all I eat is protein but when I add it up I am usually around 50 to 55 gr. I am supposed to eat my protein rather than drink it so I haven't been having protein shakes. I eat Greek yogurt for the higher protein, protein bars for snacks. I would appreciate some tips and food items to help boost my protein. My regular menu items are eggs, cheese, chicken, turkey, tuna, cottage cheese and yogurt so any other suggestions would be welcomed!!!

    Potato Chips

I love chips!! What's a tuna sandwich without them! lol Since I have been banded I can have 2 or 3 chips and walk away, before I wouldn't stop until I ate the whole bag.
  4. Pain may not be with right word, more of a mild ache, not deep but towards the outer layers of my skin, to the left side of the port area. If I touch my skin even lightly I feel it. Very weird I have been banded for 5 months with almost no pain or discomfort at all. This started over this weekend. The area is not red, swollen or warm. Any ideas?

    Weird Pain

Thanks. I called my PA today and she said as long as I don't have a fever I may have just moved wrong or strained a bit. She said if I develope a fever to call back right away.

    Holidays!!!!!!! Geeeeeeeez!

Congratulations on being banded!! I think you may find it a little easier then you are anticipating at Holiday time. My first party after my surgery was tough, but after putting all the hard work in, I don't want to blow it so each time it gets easier. I splurge once in a while and only a tablespoon or two! Good Luck!

    Olive Garden NOT accomadating!!

I love the left-overs when I order a regular sized meal. Sometimes I order an appetizer as my meal and the portion size is great. Most children's menu items are not healthy choices, they are usually high carb or fat so I would avoid them at any cost.
  8. I don't enjoy eating out as much as I used to since being banded! I do like ordering one meal...a to-go container and I eat three more of the same yummy meal the next few days!
  9. Halloween nightmare !! I broke and had a few bite size pieces of candy!! The day is almost over thank goodness. My grandchildren always make our house the last one the trick or treat at and I dump whatever candy we have into their bags so we don't keep it around the house. Lord let them get here soon!!!! lol
  10. Fly! First congratulations on your weight loss. I only hope to be as successful. You have been very successful with your choice for weight loss and that's what counts. You have worked hard, not only have you lost weight, but with the gym work outs you have made you heart, lungs, and every other organ stronger. Being helathy is not only only about losing weight and unfortunately not everyone understands that. I hope your friend continues to have great success with her/his weight loss, and maybe someday will understand the full path to getting and staying healthy. In the mean time.....you are doing great, and an inspiration to all who have chosen this path.

    I'm banded!!!! Wow!

Congratulations! Good luck on the next phase of your weight loss.
  12. Thanks, I am always looking for quick and easy, especially if it's loaded with protein!
  13. Thanks for your suggestions, I'll give that a try.

    Onederland!!!!

Congratulations!! What a great feeling that must be. All you hard work is paying off! Keep up the great work

    Stuck!!! OH MY GOD!!

Ouch ! I had the exact same experience. Papaya helps me a little bit with getting it moving but it doesn't help the anxiety that builds up while it is happening!! lol
  16. Hi and Congratulations on your surgery! I found that walking helps and I slept in a recliner for the first night or two instead lying flat in bed.
  17. Unfortunately the band won't stop stress, anger etc eating. I fight it every day, but at least now the band is like seeing a big old stop signs for me. I realize that eating in that state of mind will only hurt me and I am able to control it. When I am feeling especially stressed I try to make sure I plan something to do to keep me out of the kitchen! I find that keeping busy helps. The only Snacks I keep at work are a few Protein bars, a small jar of Peanut Butter and a box of reduced fat Wheat Thins.
  18. I take the generic colace (1/2 gel tab 1/2 regular tab) without any problems. They are small enough to swallow even after 2 fills.

    Healthy Choice, etc.

Hi, I was banded 6/25/09. I have (3) 1/2 cup meals a day and (2) 2oz snacks. I try to avoid the pre-packaged/ frozen dinners because they are so high in sodium. I can roast a small chicken or just the breast meat and eat it for several meals. I try to get creative so I am not to bored by my choices. I eat mostly protein but tonight I had a small salad for the first time. I am a little unsure how much salad I can eat, but I didn't have any problems getting it down.
  20. Hungry for me is a new feeling. I was always "head" hungry but never recognized true hunger. I can now distinguish the two.....when I am truly hungry my stomach feels like it's moving and rolling around in there, and it's loud! lol

    dinner was good

that sounds really good! I will have to check out my Wal-Mart for them!
  22. Constipation was the one side effect that in all my research I never found out about until after surgery. My first bout of it I thought I was going to wind up in he ER. I finally took MOM and with extreme difficulty I was able to go. I take a stool softener every day but if I see I haven't gone in a few days I take a small does of MOM to get things moving again.
  23. Hi All, I was banded 6/25/09 and I'm 40lbs down! I have had 2 fills, (3.6 in a 10CC band) as long as I continue to lose my PA is only doing micro fills for now, saving room for when and if I plateau! I haven't bought any new clothes yet, but I think I will this weekend, I got out of bed this morning and my pj bottoms fell to the floor....I think it's time. Good luck to everyone!
  24. I gurgle sometimes, I notice it when I eat toooo fast.
