  1. Hi, I was banded June 25th and the first few days post op felt the same. I think most of us do. I am now 3 weeks post op and feeling great. I have even been able to go out to dinner with DH and friends and stick to my mushies without wanting what everyone else at the table had to eat! It is hard but I believe in a few weeks you will feel it's the best thing you could have done for yourself!! Good Luck on your new journey.

  3. Hi Lisa, Sorry I am from NJ and can't help with a surgeon in your area. I had a wonderful caring surgeon and a great experience with my surgery. I am 3 weeks post op, 19 lbs down and feeling great. I went to 3 different seminars until I found one I really liked. Hopefully you can find another that makes you feel comfortable. Good Luck !

    "Program Fees"

No program fee, surgeon was "in-network" so I had NO out of pocket cost. I'd look around !

    My Experience

Congratulations Iris!! I am glad you experience was a good one. Mine was great, I even went back to work the next afternoon. No pain, gas for about and hour the next morning, then gone!! Good Luck along your new path.
  6. I was banded on 6/25/09. I feel great. I am still on liquids until at least 7/6. I am dreading this weekend and 4th of July BBQ's. I plan on bringing the liquids I can have but how do you distract yourself and fight the urge??
  7. Thanks for all your encouragement! Yesterday was a bad day, I didn't drink enough liquids so I was feeling hungry. Dr. added cream Soup as long as I strain all the bits out. That helped a lot, I am no longer hungry and I think I will be fine, I don't want to do any damage.

    Lapband pain vs c section

Everyones pain tolerance is different. I was banded 6/25/09. After reading alot of post I was expecting the worst, but I only has some minor discomfort the first night and next morning. Mostly gas in my left breast, not even enought to take pain medication. Regular tylenol relieved it. I even went to work the afternoon after my surgery. Please don't judge it by my experience, but I think if you did well after the c-section you should be fine. My doctor did say I could not lift anything heavier than my purse so please be careful with the kids. Hugs to you! :tongue2:
  9. Hey !! Don't be so hard on yourself. Stopping eating is a hard thing and sometimes in our lives we all need a little help. I had similar feelings as you, but I decided that I needed help. I know the band isn't magic and I still need to work hard at losing, so I feel being banded and loosing weight isn't a walk in the park for any of us. We still have to work hard. Only you can make the decision to be banded or not, I for one and glad I did. I didn't tell anyone but my DH, not because I didn't want to hear what they have to say, but because I was embarrased that I couldn't do it on my own. I am over that now. We all need help now and again. Be good to yourself and do what's best for you, not what you think you "should" be able to do. Hugs to you and good luck!!!
  10. Thanks, I have a similar fear. I'll remember that one! :tongue2:

    What will I need

The heating pad idea is great. Last Christmas my DH bought me these heat packs they sell in the mall on those kiosks, I used them the first few days because even though I felt great I think my body was over-reacting a little. I was cold and a little shakey. I micro waved the pack for about 1 min. and the heat felt very soothing on my shoulders and my chest. Plus the herbal smell had a very soothing effect. Good luck to you !!:tongue2:

    banded 6/30/09

Congratulations! I am happy to hear all went well. I was banded 6/25 and went back to work the afternoon of 6/26. Feeling good, not hungry much either but I'm sure that will pass at some point. :tongue2: Good luck on your journey!
  13. Congratulations! I think you will find it was worth the wait!! Good luck to you. My surgery was last Thursday and I feel really good. I wish you the same recovery as I am having!!
  14. I am in no pain at all, just a little tired, but I am having trouble getting in the 64 oz of liquids a days the doctor said I need. I am not hungry at all, the smell of food make me want to throw up!! I am getting about 32 oz but can't seem to manages more then that. Any advise?
  15. Thanks! I'll try that. Remembering to drink had been a problem so hopefully this will work.

    ok... getting scared....

I am 2-1/2 days post op and I was saying the same thing until they put me to sleep! Just remember the reasons you are doing this for and you'll do great!! Hang in there
  17. I was banded Thursday and so far so good! I have a mild ache in my mid section but otherwise feeling ok. I slept alot when I got home until the anestesia (sp) wore off. I had some pretty sharp gas that traveled across my chest for a few hours but that's pretty much gone now. I took Tylenol before I went to sleep for the night and that helped. I had a sore throat when I woke up but they told me to take throat lozengers and after one it was pretty much gone. My surgeon Dr. Ewing was great and the entire staff at the Surgical Cener in Carlstadt, NJ could not have been nicer. They made me feel great, reassuring and caring. They even give you a rose as you are leaving to remind you to stop and smell the roses. I am on liquids for a week then the doctor will determine if he is going to add anyhting after that. And the best thing....I can shower right away! Good luck to all of you that are still waiting, I think my anxeity made it worse for me, try to relax and remember the reasons you are doing this!
