  1. Depends on how heavy you are lifting. My doctor told me no lifting more that 30lbs for 6 weeks. When i saw him at my 2 week post op appt I told him I had hit the speedbag the night before and he was mortified. He was like stop that until 6 weeks only walking for now.

I totally lost my taste for my muscle milk rtd shakes i cant even stomach them. I have just been skipping them try getting your protein in other ways keifer, and greek yougurt are a good source. even milk has 10grams per 8oz
  4. you just had a baby, post partum your body is getting rid of excess fluids. Seems almost natural that you would have some inflamation. You might want to stay on liquids for a couple of days like the other folks recomend make sure you keep hydrated stay away from salts. It might help to walk around a littlebit also. Can i ask a question and i hope I'm not intruding? was this a natural birth? The only reason I ask is that all the bearing down might had slipped your band. You might want to get in and see your surgeon if your symptoms dont improve.

    Dying for coffee!!!!!!!!!

The reson most doctors say no to caffein is because it is a diuretic and can dehydrate you faster if your water intake isn't addequate. Also its acidic and can cause stomach upset. My doc said only decaf Coffee is in my jeans (I'm Cuban) and I havent had any yet because i refuse to drink decaf lol!!

  8. I love how you picked my post apart.. a bit neurotic aren't we? I know forums are for people who have different opinions and i will take your post as just that. Your personal opinion. I'm not an e- thug lol!! So I think I will leave this one alone. Have a good time with your soon to be tight band.

    realize banded!!

up your excersise hun thats the best way to drop weight you dont want an overly tight band and have to live on liquids
  10. So what are your qualifications to argue with a doctors policies? I'm not looking for an argument, It is true that you should listen to your body. But as we all know we are a society that is focused on instant gratification. Sadly I think thats what your mentality is based on. I question some of you becauseI feel that If you think your doctor is not a good one why are you still seeing him? It's an unfortunate thing that happened to your hubbys exwife. But we are not talking about cancer here. Were talking about a band beeing progressively filled to give you less room in your tummy to fill. I think that we banded folk need to learn how to use our tool and that takes time. There are alot of bandsters on here who have had complications because they never adapted to their new way of eating. Most of them live with an overly tight band, product of beeing filled too fast. How many pbs have you had? Why do you think that might have happened? Hmmm.. Along with the band beeing used as a tool there has to be some sort of behavioral adjustment. What do you think?
  11. I need to chime in on this one. All doctors have different approaches when it comes to fills. Just like they do with post op diets. Some doctors are conservative and slowly get you to your sweet spot while others want to get you there as fast as possible. Now with that said, people do your homework figure out what your doctors MO is. Prior to surgery i asked my surgeon a ton of questions and i researched the lapband very arduously. My surgeon was actually impressed with all the questions i asked of him. He was like "wow you did do your research". I told him that i like to be an informed buyer that i wouldn't buy a car with out figuring out if it was satisfactory to my needs and expectations, and I wasn't going to have something implanted in me wiothout doing the same. The OP stated that you should fire your doctor if he doesnt comply with filling you as often as you would like. Keep in mind that he is the doctor not you and that he knows best.
  12. you are doing really well just because your doctor has you booked for a fill doesnt mean you have to get it. You dont want to live with an overly tight band if you dont have to. I you continue to make progress you can always change it for a later date.
  14. i excercised alot before i had surgery and i went 5 weeks without loosing a pound. I got discouraged and i stopped working out while i still dieted and would you believe it i dropped 3 pounds just like that. I am going to be cycling my workouts once i start again. I strenght train and hit the speedbag and heavy bag for cardio. I also jump rope but not sure if I am going to be able to do that again. dont want to slip my band lol. Do you lift weights? might want to incorporate that into your work outs just keep in mind that when you work out you are gaining muscle and might not loose any weight. So you hae to have periods when you cut and periods when you gain muscle mass.

  15. Hola como estan espero que bien encontre tu mensaje por casualidad. Porque crees que tu lapband no esta funcionando? Cuantas libras has bajado? mentionas que no tienes restriction. si tienes preguantas aslas quie llo te puedo ajudar.
  16. so far i have lost about 13 lbs post op so not too bad i guess but like i said i really havent been eating/drining much. Just cant seem to get it all down. I returned to work last night and let me tell you those 10 hrs were a little tough my belly was a bit sore from all that sitting i did. I tried walking around but it just wasnt enough.I'm glad that you are uping your excersise bad thing about excersising is that it makes you hungry make sure that you are getting in sufficient cals to ensure that you dont paltreau.

  17. the binder i wear is like a briefer its panties that come all the way up to under my bra line. Similar to spanks higher power panties. I tell you it has been a life saver.

    liquid diet while banded

hate to sound condisending but you guys did know that the band is just a tool and that you have to work with it. You still have to make the right choices when it comes to eating. You can gain weight with a tight band if you choose to eat milkshakes and potato chips. Perhaps you need an unfil so that you can get more food in and excersise more. Keep track of what you are eating. Go back to basics dont drink with your meal, Protein first then veg and fruit if you have space.
  19. hey girlie i saw Dr. K today and he was a sweetie pie he was so nice and it was funny how he complimented me for beeing an informed patient lol. I have one more week to go on the liquids and frankly can probrably do liquids for a while. I asked what band i got and i have a lapband ap standard 10cc. I asked if he filled the band at all during surgery and he told me that they leave the primer fill in there so its not deflated. I was like no wonder i totally feel it. I havent been hungry at all but i know that will all change soon. I had my first fill scheduled for the 30th of Dec when i told him he informed me that he would be out of town that week. So they scheduled me for the 23rd one week before sounds good huh.. I didnt realize that was just 2 days before Christmas eek no christmas dinner for me :( Depending on how i feel i just might cancel that fill appt. I dont want an overly tight band. Sorry for the long post just a bit excited i guess..

  20. wow sucks chica hope youre feeling better I'm seeing Dr. Khalilli today. Beeing on liquids doesnt suck that much lol

  21. Ditto marmar i also have 3 kids and a hubby that i have to cook for and temptation is always there as a matter of fact i just sat with them as they all had McDonalds. I had beef broth i'm less than 2 weeks out so i did get over it but man was it hard..
  22. wow i was banded on the 16th and i must tell you i have been wearing a binder just about since a week out. it makes everything feel better i have less swelling and my belly has that extra support i need. You might want to try that out see if the extra support helps out with your pain. Keep in mind that everything is fresh in there and any sudden movement can cause things to hurt. If you are really concerened or if yoiu have any new symptoms like redness or swelling you should contact your doctor.

  25. Sorry to hear about your thyroid issues

hope you get those resolved. as far as things go I'm not back to work yet..Going back Dec 1st 3 days before my bday yaay. Why did they call me from Dr. Khalillis to reschedule my post op apt i was livid. I just cant get them to see me when they need to. I'm getting better with the drinking. Today i just seem to have no energy painwise I have none just some minor discomfort here and there. I'm scheduled to see Khallili on Dec 1st for my post op. I guess better late than never. Could you believe than when I questioned what their back up plan was as far as if anyone had a complication they said that their on call Doc was ill and that they would be refered to the ER. I was like you have to be shitting me such a big practice with no plan C lolz.. Anyhoot I should have known what i was signing up for getting banded so close to the holidays.
