    bad breathe

    does anyone have any problem with their breathe. My wife told me my breathe smells bad since the surgery. Just wondering because i brush my teeth at least 3x a day and now I have to use sugar free fresheners during the day.

    Does anyone have a large band?

    I was banded on 5/5/09 and so far I lost about 70lbs. To date it took me about 6 fills with one minus .2cc and then 6 weeks later he put back the .2 cc. I'm presently at 12.4cc on my 14cc band and i'm at my sweet spot. I hear everyone is different with the amount of fills they need. I'm a guy so I don't know how different it is for women with large bands. Some days I feel alot tighter than other days, right now I'm very restricted but a few days ago I could eat more (2cups of chili compared to a 1/2 cup chili). I'm just happy I'm finally at my sweet spot and the weight is coming off with more ease. So good luck and keep working at the fills you will know when your at your sweet spot

    Going on a Cruise.. help!

    I was banded May,2009 and went on a cruise in August and then again in January of this year. The both cruises were great and I went on Nowegian cruise,freestyle cruises,which means I could eat whenever I wanted so I would eat small but often. It also depends on what resyriction level your upto. In Aug. I only had a 7 fill in a 14 band, and in Jan, I was about 9. Right now I'm up to 12.4 and planing on cruising this winter and I have no worry at all about the food. Believe the choices are many and if you eat at your own pace you'll be fine. At breakfast i would get mixed cutup fruit and sit poolside and snack at my leisure and later progress to the band friendly foods available. Good luck and enjoy your cruise,you will find you get more exercise than you think with all the walking you can do; Suggestion,pedometer and walkie talkies to keep in touch with other people you go with especially if you are waking the track on the ship.

    good luck on your upcoming banding. I am so happy I did this but I only wish I did it years ago. You won't believe the diffrrence in how you will feel. Once again good luck and congradulations on your decision. Don't forget on this site there are many helpfull people and you can ask any question no matter how silly or sick you may think it is. There are people on this site that has experienced it all.

    Thank you both very much, I don t eat much carbs at all so I guess I'll have to change my diet around a bit I consentrate on my protein alittle to much I think.

    9.25cc in a 14cc band

    for all my fills the doctor does a complete unfill/refill to make sure there is no leaks and so far everything has come out right.
  7. i ve had 5 fills and each time my doctor withdraws the old fill he says to make sure there is not a leak and then replaces it with new fluid as I always watch this procedure. Onee thing is I always got more fill than he takes out never the same amount

    i feel the same as you about sometimes eating in the later part of the day also. I also have a 14 band and I'm up to 12.2 fill and probably gonna get another .2 this coming thursday because tonight for dinner I was able to eat 4 cups of chili but earlier in the day I could only drink protein, water and ice tea. It's all very confusing to me also because I thought when your at your sweet spot you eat only about a cup of food each meal

    there is also a chance of high cholesterol and blocked arteries preventing the blood flow to the penis and this would definitely affect other body areas especially the heart. When doctors hear you have labido problems they will do blood work for cholesterol and test for blood flow and pulmimary problems. It would be wise to have a complete physical by a reliable physician which could be a life saver and add many years to your life.

    Maxuimn in 14 CC band?

    I have a 14cc band and yesterday I was filled to 12.4 from 11.5 yesterday and I was drinking shakes and liquids up to an hour ago. I just finished a half cup of progresso veg soup and I m hoping this is my sweet spot. I'm gonna try this for six weeks and see how I do but I think I'm close if not there now. At first yesterday the Dr. filled me to 13cc but drinking the water wouldn't go down so he removed another .6cc where it went down better. Good Luck I hope this helps

  13. Hey guys out there how many calories is the best range for steady weight loss. I ve seen it posted on the nutrition section but mostly women were posting their calorie counts but I believe men eat a different amount of calories. I just feel I'm just not eating the right amt of calories.

    Hormel Chili Recommendation

    it is very simple to make home made chili. Just brown ground turkey,drain add your choice of diced, chopped or crushed tomatoes,an envelope of chili mix(I buy the store brand its cheap and just as good as name brand) and red kidney beans and simmer about 1/2 hour. You can use your choice of beans or no beans at all. Make a pot full and cool and make serving sizes in a zip lock bag and freeze for future use.

    Restriction VS. Stuck!!

    I have the same exact problem. One day food feels like it gets stuck earlier in the day but as late afternoon approaches I get hungry and it's like magic I can eat again. I won't get another fill for awhile because I'm thinking if I do I won't get anything down. When I can eat sometimes I'm so hungry I can eat 2 cups which my nutritionist said is to much. I don't want to stretch my pouch so I'm not sure if getting another fill is good or bad. I'll let my Dr. determin if he thinks its a good idea or not. So to answer your question I believe alot of us have the fickle band when we get close to our sweet spot.

    Weight Watchers Online: Support Thread

    Went to WW meeting this morning and did well for the weigh in ,down 4.4 lbs for the week. I'm still confused about my restriction because some days I feel as if everything gets stuck and other days I can eat anything. I m not complaining as long as I keep losing but I can't understand the fickleness of my band. Some days I feel I need a slight unfill,other days I feel I need a slight restriction. Is this the sweet spot? Well anyhow good luck to all.

    I would ask my nutritionist as I really did for the same problem and it turned out I was not eating enough calories. When I started eating the calories allowed I started losing weight again. The web site fitday.com you can track your calories and you can bring the print out version to your nutritionist to look over. So in a nutshell you may not be eating enough calories especially with the exercise you are doing.If you don t eat enough calories your metabilism slows down and you stop losing weight.

    Well i went to weigh in today on the sixth day instead of tomorrow because i ll be away from my local WW. I did good this week losing 2.6 lbs. which I'd be happy with everyweek but it s not what I expect because I don't want to be disappointed. I cannot do the amount of points allowed ( 34) but I lowered my points to approx. 20 pts,I believe that is as close as I can get to 1200 calories. I track on weight watchers as well as on Fitday.com,I would love 2 1/2 pounds a week but any loss is considered an accomplishment. Good luck to all.

    I got my last (3rd) fill Aug.6th and lost about 5 lbs since. I've been eating about 1000 to 1500 calories a day so now I'm gonna try weight watchers starting today. I've been having trouble with my fill because some days I can eat some days I can't. I have a 14cc band and i'm 9.4 fill. About four years ago I lost 40 lbs on WW for my 2 daughters weddings but went back to my old habits after the weddings so on May 5th of this year I had my LAP-BAND® and so far I only lost a total of 20 lbs since the day of surgery. I believe I'm not eating enough and haven't been exercising due to a 2 month bout of bronchitis,which went away a couple of days ago. Now I m laid up with the gout,whats next. I'm confident I can get through this with the help of following weight watchers and my LAP-BAND®. So starting today I m determined to track what I eat and be successful in my journey no matter what obstacles get in my way. I ll report my weight loss weekly,thanks for your support.
  20. I get such restriction in the morning that I cannot eat any food including mushy eggs until mid afternoon. When dinner time arrives I can eat alot of food almost anything i want except salad which lettuce gets stuck. I m scheduled for a fill on Thursday so i m not sure if I should increase it or not. I know in the evening I can eat 3 cups or more. My weight seems to be fluctuating 2 & 3 pounds up and down.

    suggestions on morning restriction

    Thank you all for the suggestion about water etc in the mornings. Ive been drinking my cup of black coffee warm,then I drink about 1 qt of water and that seems to do the trick. It s been about 3 days now it s much better. After the water I have the EAS protein powder shake I buy in costco or BJ s, it has 27 g of protein plus the 8g that s in the fat free milk comes to 35g in the morning. I prefer chocolate over vanilla and sometimes I add a tablespoon of low sugar nestles quick, it adds to make it taste more like a shake for only an additional 30 calories. Thanks for all your advice good luck in continuing success. P.S. I also add crushed ice cubes to my shake

    8.2 fill no restriction

    i still have restriction especially in the AM i cannot eat solids but that is my chance to have my protein shake until lunch. Unfortunately i m at a stand still weight wise because i have chronic bronchitis and taking heavy doses of prednisone also i cannot exercise because of my severe coughing so I m going through a bit of a tough time but still eating healthy. i hope your next fill helps good luck.
  24. I am just wondering how much anyone that has a 14 lapband is filled with. I have a 14 and 8.2 fill with no restriction. I just came back from a cruise and gained 5 lbs. I m scheduled for a fill tomorrow and my Dr lets me determine how much of a fill I would like. This will be my third fill so I don t know how high fill is to high. I m thinking maybe 11 but I have no idea. Do men need more amounts in their bands for some reason? If anyone has any suggestions please let me know because any info will help. thank you again Al

    8.2 fill no restriction

    well since my last post things have gotten much better at 9.4 I eat about a cup of food for lunch and dinner to go along with my EAS choc shake in the A.M. I don t get stuck in my throat in the morning anymore. In the 6 days since my fill I lost 7 lbs but I know that was alot of water weight from the 3 days before my last fill I had alot of chinese food. I m happy things are moving along it takes patience to get to where you want to be.
